Excellent dig to visit with a group of my student for an end-of-term recap. Not too pricey, good eats and nice ambiance.

Thank God! I was very disappointed last time I was here as I thought the quality was declining but, as it seems, that was an one-off occasion! Now, everything was perfect. I had the fish and it was more than delicious. One of the best french cuisine restaurants in Athens.

Situated in an old school, this restaurant is definitely worth a visit. The food was superb and the service was outstanding.

I found this restaurant because my friend grew up in Exarchia. I said "where is the school?" and he said it's a restaurant now- Greek in the schoolyard, and a French bistrot downstairs. the Greek restaurant is flawless, but Chez Violette is special- quirky, personal, sweet. Rose or pastis (get the pastis with a little almond syrup for a grown... More

Very nice location, friendly staff! A small list of plates and wines but very delicious any of them. It s a value for money choice if you like to taste French cuisine in the heart of Athens. The bistro is located in an old school and the front yard is recommended during the hot summer season.

Nice place for a french atmosphere night. Sited in the oldest in age but young in heart neighborhood of Athens, this cozy bistro offer a small number of well selected plates, 10 labels of well prized - mostly french - wine and some doses of French spirits, through decoration, attitude and live (don't panic, it's quite) music. It is perfect... More

I always go with big groups of people and this restaurants always gives us more satisfaction. The more you go the better. Great food and polite stuff surrounded in a nice enviroment all year long. Summers in the courtyard and winters inside the long-ceiling interior. Prices are always reasonable. Salads are my favourite but also meet dishes are always fine.

Last night in Greece and really wanted a change in food. Found this place a small walk from the Radisson. You have to ring the bell and the gate opens. There is also a Greek restaurant, but after seeing how adorable and vintage Chez Violette is, I decided to eat there. I ordered the French onion soup (authentically baked and... More

Staying in Exarchia

Neighbourhood Profile
Exarchia is in many ways Athens’ best-kept secret, discovered by relatively few international visitors. Located behind the main University and Polytechnic buildings, it is unsurprisingly home to many students, intellectuals and politicos. This is reflected in the area’s vibrant street art and graffiti, which seems to cover almost every inch of wall space. Some of the best Athenian tavernas are located here, as well as its most alternative bars and underground music venues. You'll find political bookshops and quirky stores here, yet it is also a neighborhood inhabited by families and older folk. On Saturdays, punks and grandmothers alike head for Kallidromiou Street, nestled below Strefi Hill, to pick up fresh produce at the traditional laiki agora (street market).
