About
In Pothia, next to the old imposing building of the Italian Estate, for nine years, there is our tavern, overlooking the sea and the fishing boats that rest in the rugged waters of the harbor. Every year, friends from all over the world who have come to know us from time to time come with joy and nostalgia to greet us, to rest lazily on the chairs around our tables and to enjoy, with merciful mood, our freshly appetizers, “married” with ouzo and local wine. Stuffed and cooked on the charcoal excellent octopus, iodine and sea urchin mushrooms, pines, oysters and bubbles, delicious seafood and fresh fish directly from our hook and nets. Our caique plows daily the Kalymnian, generous sea and returns

Quintessentially Greek Seaside fish restaurant The staff are very friendly, helpful. The service is incredibly fast, the seafood is fresh (I recommend you try the oysters and mussels) they also offer you different seafood for you to taste free of charge (a situation not seen...in many restaurants). The prices are quite affordable, It is high on the list of restaurants to visit in Kalymnos.More

Good menu and quality of food. Shrimps and Cod dishes excellent. Prices were average for Parthia. Get there early for a table as gets busy.

Food was good, excellent grilled shrimps and saganagi. Slow service, waited for check for 20 minutes. Nice staff, nice outside tables.

We got a recommendation from a lady from a sponge shop - we wanted something authentic, where the locals go, and yes, only the locals were there. We chose ahtapodokeftedes - balls made from octopus, another recommendation from that lady, as one of the Kalymnos'...specialities, fried calamari, Greek salad and shrimp saganaki. The food was nice and rose house wine although bit on the sour side went well with it. The service was friendly and professional. good recommendation.More

Bad food, flavourless, no fresh fish. Do not recommend anyone going here unfortunately. Nice location but does not live up to the standard they try to have.

This is our first choice for eating in pothia. A wide selection of superb fresh seafood, always beautifully cooked. Friendly service and always ready to explain the more exotic delicacies.

We decided to stay in Kalymnos for 2 nights and stumbled across this rather busy harbour front restaurant advertising octopus in various forms. It had been that busy they hadn't had time to re-dress the tables but this didn't matter as that's a sign to...us that it's a popular place, so we plonked ourselves down and this was rectified almost immediately. We went for the recommendation of grilled octopus which we shared and also a Greek salad. I'd never had grilled octopus before and it was stunning. My wife has never tried octopus in any form and even she liked it. The Greek salad was good (but you can't really mess up a salad anyway) and we left rather pleased with our visit. We would definitely return again the next time we are in KalymnosMore

If you like seafood you will love this place. We had a mixed platter of local specialties, including red oysters and fouskes, followed by octopus patties and Kalymnos salad. Everything was excellent and very fresh. Helpful and friendly service. We only wished we stayed longer...on Kalymnos, so we could return.More

The owner who’s name is Michael hosted us. He was very nice and welcoming and treated us like family. The restaurant has its own boat and catches fresh fish and seafood everyday. I highly recommend eating here if you are in the port, it’s where...the locals eat. Tell Michael hello.More

We ate here twice during our brief stay in Pothia, and enjoyed it a lot. If you like fish and seafood, then I would recommend it without hesitation. On our first visit, my wife and I shared a tasty red snapper, with a very large...and fresh salad and the usual fried potatoes. This was chosen from the chilled fish counter, and the weight and price agreed when we ordered; so there no surprises when we received the bill, which was reasonable anyway. The owner also kindly let me try a small sample of red oysters, and the local delicacy, fouskes; and I enjoyed these enough (although, like oysters, they are perhaps an “acquired” taste) to order a large plate of them and some sea urchins when we returned the next evening; my wife preferring a fresh tuna steak. The bulk wine is perfectly palatable, in common with most Greek tavernas; although other options are available, of course. We received very friendly, courteous and knowledgeable (particularly with regards to fish and seafood) service from the Greek-Australian owner, who oversees the place and clearly “knows his stuff”. This restaurant is set back, with a busy main road roundabout between it and the sea; so do not expect to be gazing out romantically over the sea as you eat, and you may have to speak up occasionally to make yourself heard above the general noise in this very lively town; but the excellent food more than compensates for this.More

This place seemed to be a popular place with locals,so we had a dinner. Never had smaller portions in Greece before, also the squid wasn´t grilled through, half raw...and quite high prices on top. The beer was the best.

Are you a seafood lover? This place is for you!!! I wandered in with my group of friends one night, and was immediately greeted by the friendly staff and incredible aroma of their amazing dishes. The restaurant was filling up quickly but we managed to...get a table. Some of the amazing foods we ate we're the octopus meatballs, calamari and the amazing seafood pasta with the most delicious crayfish, prawns, pippi's... It was endless! Nothing more beautiful than immersing yourself in fresh, local, quality seafood. This place is perfect for everyone! Highly recommend this place. You can't come to Kalymnos without trying this restaurant!!!More

Michael and the guys at Manias are awesome, our daughters would ask to go there most nights as they have "the best calamari in the world", definitely pop in if you are down at Plateia for lunch or dinner.

It's not the first time we visited Manias Fish Tavern and for sure it's not the last one. All sea food is fresh, they even own their own fishing boat wich delivers every day fresh fish and all kinds of seafood and very tasty. You...must try the fish (ask the stuff for the catch of the day), the grilled octopus, octopus balls and of course the lobsters! Located in a central location in Pothia with a nice view of the port.More
