This holds a special place in our family’s memory treasures. Son got engaged here in 2021 and he and fiancé were treated like royalty by Nikolas and his family. We visited and were able to show photos from the wedding. He was delighted and insisted...on giving us gifts for the happy couple. But let’s talk about the food . It’s excellent, authentic and typically Greek. Beautiful salad starters followed by grilled prawns and succulent chicken. Good local wines and beer. The setting is amazing with a taxi boat pickup from nearby Kalami. For a taste of real Corfu, you really must visit. Great valueMore

Hired a boat in barbati and pootled down the coast before deciding on some lunch in agni.....a man came out onto the jetty and kindly parked our boat. We went for a short walk around agni then headed back for lunch. We were really missing all the traditional Greek ways and food on our stay in Kalami so we decided to try Nikolas Traditional Taverna in the next bay and it is exactly as the name suggests - traditional. The food and service were excellent and...the atmosphere was fantastic. Much better than any of the restaurants in Kalami. We really felt we were in Greece at last. Strongly recommended but be sure to book as it is very busy.More

First the positive. Great position (at the end of the bay) and great service. Free bread, water and olives much appreciated. Swift and attentive service. Now the negatives. This is clearly a long-standing business and to some extent, rides on previous good reviews etc. The...menu is pretty standard (fish, meat, salad etc) and we went with the expectation we'd have local food pretty much cooked to perfection. Sea bass was overcooked Chicken souvelaki is great but some kind of shop bought lemon sauce slathered over it. Not needed. Green side Salad, tired and overdressed - a bit soggy. No need as vinegar and olive oil provided. The key thing is ingredients, good ingredients need no over dressing, shop bought sauces etc. Just cook them well and provide local touches (good olive oil, oregano, garlic etc). Maybe aiming at the lowest common denominator of British visitor not a great idea, keep your standards high and good reviews will follow... Front of house let down by the kitchen.More

This was our second year coming to Nicolas taverna. Both this year and last year we came for multiple meals because it is simply that good. The staff are incredibly accommodating and the setting in Agnie bay is beautiful. The food (especially the mussels and...fresh sea food) is remarkable. I would highly recommend coming to this taverna, it will be the highlight of your holiday. We look forward to coming back next year.More

Outstanding food, with matching service. This has been our 3rd holiday staying in Kalami. This Taverna has lovely staff, amazing food and they even lay on a boat transfer locally for a small fee. Out of the 3 Tavernas in Agni this is the number...1 choice. Can’t wait to see you again next yearMore

A lovely boat ride from Kalami to this traditional busy tavern. Thursday night was billed on the website as Greek night but we didn’t see anything out of the ordinary. Food was good but a bit rushed (no time for puddings) as we had to...get the boat back. Service was friendly but slow.More

We had heard that you could arrange for a boat to collect you and bring you back from Kalami Bay so decided upon this restaurant. This place is very busy and does have a traditional feel. Like everywhere around here prices have risen. We had...a lovely corner table facing the sea. The process was well regimented and in good time. We ordered tzatziki, Greek salad, Beef Stifado and Moussaka. With a few beers and water and including the boat taxi service came to 68 euro. The stifado was really nice as was the tzatziki, if a little runny. My wife’s moussaka wasn’t nice - it was dry and seemed reheated from maybe being made earlier in the day/week. All in all, a nice evening in a different bay. There are 2 other tavernas to pick from in the bay which we haven’t tried.More

Lovely location and friendly service. Lamb klefitco was great, but the salad wasn’t brilliant. Slightly pricey, but worth it for the view.

Came here for lunch while out on the boat for the day. The tavern has its own dock with an employee in charge of helping with docking. After you’ve docked, he’ll valet park your boat for you, which is super convenient. The tavern itself is...very traditional looking, a little dated maybe and sits right on the beach. Staff is friendly and attentive. I recommend getting only the seafood or fresh fish dishes, which were amazing. Don’t recommend the tzatziki. Seafood however is fresh and prepared nicely. A basic tavern for a quick lunch.More

We've recently returned from dinner at Nikolas Taverna. After reading reviews, we thought this is the place to go. And it does not disappoint. Booking a table is definitely recommended (ideally 3 days in advance) due to the popularity of the place. Luckily we booked...the day before via their Facebook page - which then they offered a boat taxi from the resort we were staying at around the corner. This was a lovely little surprise as we were planning on walking the 20 minute walk to Agni. (This is not included but added onto the bill at the end of the night). The owner (we're guessing) greets you like you're old friends, which was lovely! Food comes out quickly and efficiently. Like a previous review states, maybe a little too quickly in-between courses. But because the place gets so busy, I'm sure they do this for their own benefit. .We shared 3 starters, which were all delicious, and homemade. We then had a pasta dish and a lamb dish - both excellent. We were both so stuffed after our meal, we had to go sit outside for some fresh air before heading home. We were really pleased with our experience, and wouldn't hesitate to go back. Thank you!More

Nikolas Taverna is the most "affordable" dining option in Agni, if you exclude Korina's Kitchen which is more of a cafe. We booked a table (you have to book) for a relatively early 7pm thinking we would avoid the busiest times when the boat taxi...ships in guests from neighbouring Kalami and Nisaki, plus a large hotel. The food was good but unfortunately the service was so slick we could barely pause for breath between courses. We ended up leaving food because we felt rushed. I know these guys have been operating for decades but there's a balance between a finely-tuned operation and one that's so slick you don't have time to enjoy the experience. It felt more fast-food than family-run taverna. I'm sure they're great people and according to other reviews it's a fun place to eat, but we never got the time to find out.More

My wife and myself are currently holidaying in Kalima staying at the impressive San Antonio Corfu Resort (Review to follow) and earlier this evening we had dinner at Nicolas Traditional Taverna which is one of 3 similar eateries at nearby Agni Bay. We had booked...a table the previous day (essential to do so as not only does the property fill up quickly but you can’t get a seat on the boat without one!) and the interesting thing is that you are collected by boat (1930 hours on the pier at Thomas’s Place) for a 10 minute trip to the restaurant. This part of the evening went extremely well. On arrival, we were shown to a nice table but there was a cat by the side eating what looked to be a large piece of fish. The cat was quickly moved on - although both it and several others returned throughout the evening - and we set about ordering our meal. A nice Fish dip, Pitta Bread and a Greek Salad to start with followed by Lamb Klefico. Unfortunately not only did everything arrive at once but the Pitta Bread was hard and certainly didn’t taste fresh. The other dishes were OK but overpriced compared to what we had had before in many other Tavernas. We finished our meal around 2030 and faced with a 75 minute wait for the return Boat Journey we decided to walk back to our Hotel which- opif nothing else - provided time to reflect on what hadn’t turned out to be a particularly great evening. One of the few Tavernas we won’t be returning to!!More

We were there on 26th June and to be honest we weren't very impressed. The food was good, but the service wasn't great, very slow. We had a meal in a taverna in Ipsos that was a lot cheaper and better than what we had here.
