Excellent cafe, disappointing restaurant.

We based ourselves at Dolopes during both our visits to the lovely Leftos Gialos beach on Alonnisos, taking advantage of the deep shade and comfortable chairs as an alternative to sun loungers on the beach. The food, drinks and service at the cafe were excellent. But our experience of the restaurant where we ate lunch was disappointing. Neither food quality nor service matched the high menu prices. For example, the Vlita we ordered was not fresh - clearly made the day before and insufficiently boiled. To be fair, when we complained they removed the charge for this dish. But we were also disappointed by the chicken kebab which was undercooked, dry and served with stale pitta bread. When we asked to speak to the chef or the manager, we were told this was not possible even though we were the only customers at that point

best food experience in Alonissos

Following the recommendation of our local hosts we went to a variety of restaurants on the island and we found that Dolopes served the best food of them all. We had a great lunch and returned for dinner which was equally nice. Quality ingredients, great execution, beautiful setting.... we loved this place. Service was attentive and nice, in both occasions Antonis took care of us and he gave us very good advice about what to choose from the menu.

Great day at the beach

It was 12€ for two extremely comfy sunbeds and an umbrella. The staff were really friendly and worked so hard through the day taking orders; especially when an excursion boat came in and doubled the amount of people on the beach. We thought both the beach food and drinks were great value for money; given it’s a captive market they could easily charge more but we felt the prices were fair. We ate from the beach menu and the French baguette and tuna sandwiches were huge and really lovely! Toilet facilities were clean. Views - outstanding!

Excellent food, location right on the beach.

We had a wonderful meal at Dolopes. We had a great table overlooking the beach. Service was very good. The restaurant has definitely gone upmarket and more gourmet but with logical prices for food served with a wonderful flair and a bit different from the standard taverna. Highly recommended both for lunch or a romantic dinner by the sea. PS. Definitely give the cocktails a try.

The only thing that attracts this place is the beauty of the Leftos Gialos bay and the fact that it has very comfortable wooden sunbeds, the rest leaves everything to be desired. Unprofessional staff, a sandwich with ALONISSOS tuna and iceberg €10 to say it was inedible is an understatement...crazy prices for a non-existent service. Music in the background all day. Another unpleasant thing was the arrival of a dinghy from a yacht directly in front of our sunbed, despite the fact that there are buoys offshore that delimit the shore and on the left of the bay a small pier for landing. I pointed out to the staff that it is neither safe to arrive with the dinghy with the engine running to the shore nor polite (there were many people in the water swimming), he told me that there was nothing he could do. Much better than ELEONAS, establishment next door, delicious cuisine and great staff. Don't be fooled by appearance!!

The food is as beautiful as the view!

In June and again in July, I visited Dolopes twice. Once was with a large group, and the second time with a friend. It’s on the beautiful beach of Leftos Gialos. The food is beautiful, fresh, and delicious. They don’t have a gluten free menu. No one on Alonissos does. But clearly let them know your dietary needs and they will work with you. The first time with the group it was family style. Most dishes I couldn’t have—bread seems big on this island and it’s everywhere. I mean even sprinkled as a decoration around the edges of a gluten free dish like Greek Salad. But they made me one without bread! I had swordfish with a cauliflower purée. There’s also a peach, zucchini, and cheese salad that is very fresh and delicious. It’s the atmosphere that brings me back. The staff is friendly and professional and helpful. The view is out of this world.

Nice but...

Very nice shop, with very comfortable sun loungers in front of the sea. The only negative is the prices. In addition to the set of sunbeds that costs 15€ as throughout the island, the coffee (frento espresso) 6€ and the large bottle of water 3€. I think it's too expensive. As well as the food very expensive. In Alonissos we are not in Agios Dominikos.

Rude waiter, coffee like bath water.

Cold and overly sweet (even though I asked for medium) Greek coffee served. The worst I have ever had. It was like bath water. One waiter was lovely (young), another is the rudest waiter I have ever met in my life (the older waiter). He messed up our order and yelled at us for ordering it twice. He tries to make you over-order as well. Simply awful; would never return. Avoid this and go to the place next door if you end up here.

Definitely the restaurant to go when at Leftos Gialos

The beach is organised, though we are more into wild beaches it was good there, good water, scenery and atmosphere. The restaurant is really good, all dishes we had were tasty and the prices reasonable. Would definitely go there again when travelling to Alonnisos.

As spaces the beach bar and restaurant were nice. At the beach bar we chose from a cocktail, which was honest, in relation to the price and in relation to the place we were. Nice sunbeds, free of charge and without minimum consumption. We then chose to go up to the restaurant, which as a place was beautiful, when they brought us the food began to come bees on them. Fantastic Restaurant and Beachclub

Such a nice hide away! Really lovely people and delicious fresh made food. You can choose from typical Greek food or seafood or meat like lamb. Also vegetarians will find lots off different options. Tables are next to the beach with perfect seaview. But it’s not only a restaurant it’s also a Beachclub with pool so one can stay all day long starting with coffee at 9am and end up with dinner and cocktail in the evening. Enough parking space! If you are on the Island there’s no reason not to come to this fab place!

Beautiful setting & delicious food

Popped here for lunch and what a great find. Everything was lovely, the view and setting is beautiful. We had a couple of starters Halloumi with Fig Marmalade and a Red pepper and Feta dish. Service with a smile and view to die for what more could you ask for. Will definitely come back! Thank you

A beautiful nursery with crystal clear water that goes from turquoise to green. Exceptional beach service. Comfortable sunbeds and if you opt for those under the olive trees you will be able to enjoy wonderful peace and freshness. Nice Beach Bar

We visited twice Leftos Yalos beach. This beach bar was very organised and clean. It also has a lot of space for parking the car. Staff was very friendly and the seabeds and umbrellas where very comfortable. The beach is small and beautiful. Only issue when the little boats arrive with tourists at about 2.30 and the beach gets more crowded. Except this everything was nice.

A gem at the beach

Amazing. We wanted a restaurant by the beach. This place is at leftos gialos beach. Very clean, great pair of sun beds for 8 euros. I had fava and an amazing kadayif with a local cheese in the middle. It was topped with a lemon shorbet. The photo was taken after i ate the shorbet. So delicious. I also had mussels cooked in ouzo and fennel. My husband had grilled seabream. Everything was superb. Price was right.
