About
Kokkeriet is a place with contrasts. It is a small restaurant with big ambitions. Familiar taste in an unfamiliar context. High-flying passion with a hint of grounded reality. It's a gastronomic choice in a different rendition of classic as well as new Danish dishes. Kokkeriet is all four seasons. It's sprouting and succulent dishes in spring, light and elegant dishes in summer, longing and melancholic tastes in fall, and comfortable, warming dishes in winter. It is love, understanding and respect for Danish gastronomy. With a twinkle in the eye, curiosity, obstinacy and a genuine intention to serve sublime Danish food reconstructed in the best possible way. Something we by the way are very proud of being awarded a star for in The Michelin Guide. Kokkeriet is modern and old fashioned, innovative and traditional, decadent and minimalistic, pretentious as well as humble... And we are looking much forward to invite you in.

It was the second time for us visiting Kokkeriet, every time with a voucher, which makes the prices more affordable. And if occasion will occur, we will probably go again. The food and presentation were excellent, and the service probably one of the best, if not the best, that we had. Well, it is the only Michelin star restaurant that we have visited, but we did have our share of restaurants... I don't remember the names of the 18 dishes that we had, but we do remember that we liked them all (even if some I would never have chosen myself from a menu).

I have been enjoying dinners at Kokkeriet a couple of times and I keep coming back. Compared to some of the other Michelin-restaurants in Copenhagen I find Kokkeriet to be sharper focused in their servings and in general more generous with their set menus (including the wine pairings). They are definitely creative but not in a degree where you feel as being part of a food experiment. Some may find Kokkeriets prices a bit steep, but they are actually quite moderate in this class of cuisine. My best recommendation.

Our evening at Kokkeriet was great in every way. We met a highly professional and dedicated team that provided excellent service. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun, and the rhythm and attention of the serving staff was anything we could have asked for. We had the 18-course tasting menu with the full wine pairing. The food was both classical and imaginative, complemented with an interesting and varied wine-pairing.

We purchased a voucher for a takeout NYE 4-course menu online. When my husband arrived to pickup the food, precisely at the agreed time, he needed to spend the first 10 mins to find the end of they queue. Since we have very small children, he could not stay in the queue for what eventually had been 4-8hrs for most people and we had to resort to Indian takeaway food instead. Found out the issue was that the restaurant over sold the NYE menu by selling nearly 5000 covers for one evening..!!

We visited Kokkeriet for my wife's birthday to celebrate with a special meal. Her birthday happened to fall on a Tuesday, which meant we could take advantage of the restaurant's Tuesday Tasting menu. We ordered the "small" menu which was anything, but small. It included 5 tastes (including one of the best steak tartars that we have ever had), 8 regular dishes (more later), and 5 Tuesday tasting dishes. We had some amazing creative dishes, including 4 appetizers, 4 main dishes, and 2 desserts. Each serving was small but sufficient to enjoy the subtleties of each dish. They included seafood selections (mackerel and langustino), meat (pork, beef, and veal), and a vegetarian dish (a broccoli-based dish). The food was amazing and the service was impeccable. We enjoyed a nice bottle of Chateauneuf du Pape as well. Overall, this was truly a special meal for a special day! The only slight negative regarding our experience was the very high price of food in Denmark.

I am full of admiration for how good these people are at what they do: We tried four dishes each from the take-away menu, following the advice from the restaurant. This is the right amount of food for a nice meal, three dishes would probably be a bit too little. The food comes with instructions on the very minimal work you have to do to prepare it and arrange it so that it looks good. Both my Spanish guest and I thoroughly enjoyed each of the four dishes; delicious and elegant. I highly recommend this take-away option: it is something really special, but will not cost you more than two completely regular sushi take-away meals.

I came to KOKKERIET right after Geranium to show my partner what Danish food has to offer when done right and boy did Kokkeriet hit the spot. The food was impeccably delicious and made me a proud Dane. Kokkeriet takes old Danish tradition in cooking seriously by serving you new and beautifully presented dishes that honour Nordic/Danish traditional dishes but in their own interpretation - and it is amazing (*Chef’s kiss*) Thank you and THANK YOU to the male Romanian/Italian waiter who entertained us throughout the night and recommended us the very best wines as we chose not to order a wine menu. I noticed some of the other staff being quite nervous when making mistakes (such as spilling wine on the table) and my tip to you is to rather have a laugh at it with guests instead of pretending nothing happened :) We will be back x

My partner and I have visited kokkeriet on thrusday as a last meal while enjoying some holidays in copenhagen. From the moment we came in we were beautifully welcomed in in the most ginuine way by all the staff members. The evening started right away with 5 complementary canapés and a lovely glass of champagne that the staff let you try first. What to say about the staff members:my god what to start with, they are absolutely devoted to what they're doing they are the most warmth and friendly people, not intrusive with a big passion and attention to details which is a big inspiration for us as we are working in that industry. Everyone knows what they're doing from carving the fish to recommend the best unusual glass of wine. We went for the small tasting menu with selection of wine by the glass that Nanna (our lovely head waitress) made us try to make sure we would like it which I must say makes such a big difference. The chefs come out by turn to present theirs dishes which is also what make this place unique. They are holding the michelin star since 10years and I must say they are not arrogant at all and they didn't go for the easy path neither as the restaurant is constantly innovating. We can tell that everyone is looking after this remarkable place and all of them are driven by innovation and hard work to please their guests. Thank you so much to all of you at kokkeriet for this unforgettable evening and it's been an amazing experience for us as a professional to get an inspiration from and it was a good training as well for us to see what the others are doing. I wish you all the best and maybe a second star on the way! Thank you to Nanna (I hope I'm spelling her name right) for a kindness and she definitely made the evening so special for us. We will definitely return!

We had a deal from Downtown for an 18 course dinner at Kokkeriet. On Tuesdays some of the dishes are experimental, thus the deal. The food was really good, but we liked the well-established dishes better than the experimental ones. The best dish was the paté of Karl Johan mushrooms, and the bread and butter was also more than excellent. All in all, I was not totally impressed, but the service was good - with the exception that it took too long between dishes. If they had been just marginally less slow, we could have been out an hour before... We only had a reservation for 20h on a normal weekday, and it was nearly midnight before we were through all the dishes. Actually, two of our waiters left before us, as it became so late. The weakest dishes were the fish and the meat. Actually the 'main course' the Danish meat was really tough. I hope that was an exception at this one-star Michelin restaurant...

Dear May Lill, Thank you so much for your lovely visit with us as it was a great pleasure having you here. Arriving at eight o'clock and leaving just before midnight may be just a tad too much but as you described you were here on a Tuesday where we love to test new dishes and new ideas. Servings that we add to the existing menu. All in all quite a lot of servings and we also like to use up a couple of the seconds collecting feedback on the test servings and receiving your honest opinion on each one of them. Therefore, it takes just a bit longer than usual. We hope that you come back soon to join us for another test night and please remember that our lovely students also do their own tests on Wednesdays for our outstanding ´Four Rising Stars' event, which takes place every week. Best wishes,

Just arrived home from having dinner that both my wife and I have been waiting for and very excited as well. I wish I could say our expectations were exceeded, matched or even it was just under. I can’t. The waiter greeted us in Danish . I speak Danish fluently. I couldn’t understand him so much. The tables are so close you have no privacy and you do feel awkward when you would like to talk . Really talk.. the waiters are very young saying that they are here to support their education. Nice. But in a Michelin restaurant where you will leave a big amount of cash behind, please can I have a waiter who speaks proper English that I can understand and knows that you don’t talk right on top of my food ? As he was saying his introduction to my food I was honestly thinking, “ please don’t spit in my food !” And overall I would like to know out like 20 people how many are happy with those detailed info about the courses. Wouldn’t that be more appropriate to say what, where, something interesting or fun fact. Plus ask anything else you would like to know? That’s what they do in other fancy places. Most of those little speeches doesn’t come through at all. Too much noise around and poor English. Food= out of the 18 curses 2 comes to mind , and again we just arrived home from kokkeriet..the rest is like you know the feeling when you try something that is suppose to taste special , then You put it in you mouth and wait for it to happen, but it just doesn’t? .. Overall my wife and I had a nice time , because for 4 hours we talked and no phone or gadgets.;) But that was a one time experience. Thanks kokkeriet, I guess

Dear Michael, Thank you for your review, I would like to apologize on behalf of the floor staff and we will do make sure that this review will be read by them as well so they can improve. We strive to hire the right candidates but in these times as you know COVID has especially been hard on our business and most of our staff has left and started something totally different to make ends meet. While we do appreciate your review and we aim for delivering a great service with amazing wine and food, we hope that maybe you will visit us again sometime so we can show you and your wife what we are capable of! 😊 Best Regards Kokkeriet

My husband and I spent our walk back to our hotel debating if this was our worst dining experience ever, or second worst. The experience was laughably bad and we watched as the entire room where we were seated become defeated by the meal. We sat at 7:30. The meal started more or less ok with five snacks (that I think were for the Tuesday special?). They were good and relatively well paced. We then got the menu. First I was surprised because based on the website, I thought there would be clear vegetarian/pescetarian/etc options. They were able to accommodate changes but be aware so you can request these in advance. Based on our initial positive snack experience, we decided we would do the "long" menu (12 courses + amuse bouche ). This is where things went downhill. The first 5 courses + amuse bouche took 3 hours and 9 minutes. At one point there was a 40 minute wait between courses. We asked to switch to the shorter menu (8 courses) and thankfully they accommodated that because we realized we would be dining until after midnight at that rate. Overall the meal took four hours with the shortened menu. The food itself was hit or miss. Some courses were outstanding, others really fell flat or were poorly cooked. Tonight was a new menu so at first I thought maybe it was that, but I saw there was a review from a week ago with the same concerns. I thought maybe pandemic/staffing, but it seems like a month ago things were great and they at least appeared well staffed. Basically I'm not sure what was going on, but it seems like they need some time to straighten it out. Based on the vibe of the whole place, it wasn't just us either. I will also add it was disappointing to get the bill and be charged ~$25 for what seemed to be tap water. I read someone else say if you don't do the wine pairing, that's the price for water. We didn't do the pairing as I'm pregnant, but did order three sodas ($11 each) so it isn't like we had nothing else. We would have inquired but at that point we just wanted to be done.

Dear Katie, Thank you so much for your lovely visit with us and your good and honest feedback. We apologize deeply for not being able to deliver as expected on the evening and while I will save you from the excuses, we basically just got smashed due to changing the entire menu on that given evening. We take every single review extremely serious and we believe that we had all the right people on all the right sections that evening but we promise to do much better from here on.

I celebrated my 60 years birthday this weekend. Kokkeriet, represented by 2 chefs, including the headchef, and 2 waiters, prepared and served the 14 course menu from the restaurant at my home (21 guests). The food was amazing in taste as well as in appearance. Both chefs were very relaxed but still highly professionel, and the waiters were very professionel as well, also serving the winemenu I had prepared. It was as if we were in a restaurant. I, but more important, my guests, had a fantastic experience, and I can only recommend Kokkeriet.

An underwhelming experience. Friendly staff and good setting. However the evening didn’t quite live up to expectations. Some of the staff appeared new to the restaurant world, and coordination between kitchen, waiters and sommeliers seemed off, disjointed. Set menus with accompanying wines, some good dishes, but nothing shone. Laborious explanations about the wine selections, all of the bottles mediocre. And kitchen managed to completely overcook calf fillet to shoe sole chewiness. Luckily good company and conversation so did enjoy the evening.

Went for dinnner on a Wednesday evening. The restaurant was busy and the atmosphere lively. Upon arrival we were greeted by the friendly staff and was quickly taken to our table. Our hostess Sophie explained the setup and introduced an extra option to participate in testing new courses. A good idea to ask the guests opionions before putting them on the menu. I went for a vegetarian menu and my spouse jumped on the classic menu. Both amazing from start to end! Not a single element was off and we indulged in good cuisine and wine. We appreciate that the head chef walks around, making sure, that the guests ate comfortable and enjoying their time. That shows professionalism and a chef, that cares anout guests as well as staff. Three days after we are still taking abouth how amazing an experience and we cannot wait to come back. Thanks for a lovely time, amazing flavours and value for our money.
