This trendy-ish restaurant was previously a traditional Danish tavern (vaertshus), popular with some of the famous Copenhagen poets in the 70's and 80's. Nowadays it's serves fine food and good wine. The price for the individual sandwiches are a bit to steep for my liking. The same goes for the wine. As I'm a bit of a chocolate connoisseur, I... More

This has the decor and atmosphere of a traditional country inn. They have a limited menu and the best option is a three course prix fixe with a salad, main course and dessert. It is all listed on their website and only changes seasonally. Service was pleasant and efficient even though they had a busy night. My only negative was... More

I had lamb with satueed cabbage and mashed potatoes. The mashed potatoes were divine with a special herb in them. When i asked what it was the chef came out and gave me a sample. All in all a very friendly place with good skilled cooking and proffessional staff.

Pointed out as the place to dine if searching for an old fashioned Danish classic dinner. The place does not offer typical, Old fashioned Danish classics but mordern style of seasonal ingredients, which are all well picked and somewhat well prepared. We had main course and chose the cod which was served with potato cream and red beet. The serving... More

We have had dinner here more than once and have always been excited about the food and the service! The food is very high quality for a reasonable price - compared to other places in kopenhagen. The service is informal, relaxed, funny but very attentive. You can even go there with children, they offer some special dishes for the small... More

After some GREAT meals in Copenhagen we decided to try Sans Souci on our last night. Without a reservation they squeezed us in - but make a reservation if you can! It was fairly full even on a Monday night. My wife and I both had the beetroot and goat cheese salad starter - which was very nice. My wife... More

This restaurant has been there for a long time. From time to time it has been restored and upgraded. I really like the atmosphere. The menu card offer a good part of the french cuisine. The wine list offers good wines and there is even a danish gin that is sublime. This is a place I gladly come back to.

We celebrate a birthday quite dinner with some friends at Sans Souci and from the red wine that I had while I was waiting for my friends till the moment I was taking a business card to remember the name and address everything was great. I have been here with my wife. The place was suggested us by a Danish friend. We have booked in advance and we had our lunch. We had a sull degustation of herrings. Amazing, then a beef tartare and a eel sandwiches. The food was nice. Also Aqvavit was nice. Enjoy!

Spontaneously visited this restaurant because of inviting menu and location, with my grandma. Came without reservation but got a table after waiting 30 min. Started great with good bread and butter. The menu looked nice with a lot of classic dishes. An hour after ordering food, still no food and the fire alarm went off. 30 min later, a total... More

Sans Souci Restaurant & Wine bar Sans Souci was established in 1902 and is today still located in the beautiful Frederiksberg only 10 minutes from the City Town Hall Square of Copenhagen. The beautiful decorated and historic premises hold a very special atmosphere and has until today only had 5 owners. The restaurant is known for it's traditional Danish lunch with classic open face sandwiches on rye bread. The evening menu offers a selection of Danish and French classic bistro dishes with focus on quality and seasonal ingredients. The passion for wine can not be denied and the wine bar offers a wide range of bottles handpicked by our sommelier and we also offer a great selection of wine by the glass. We are proud to be able to offer high-end wines from Burgundy, Bordeaux, Napa, Piemonte, Alsace and Tuscany. All our favorite wine districts. We look forward to welcoming you.

Staying in Frederiksberg

Neighbourhood Profile
Located between Noerrebro and Vesterbro you’ll find Frederiksberg, which is actually a municipality in itself but completely surrounded by Copenhagen. Here there are several fine theaters, from the experimental to the great Det Ny Teater (The New Theater) which specializes in transcribing the great London and New York musicals into Danish, and has done so for several years with huge success. In Frederiksberg you’ll find Denmark’s most beautiful (and expensive) city villas. These 4-5 square miles form the Beverly Hills of Copenhagen. Here you’ll also find Frederiksberg Have (Garden) which sports huge outdoor concerts, from classical to electronic dance music. To top it off, dining options range from cozy family restaurants to some of the area’s most trendy cafés.
