Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The friendliest place we have ever stayed! Loved meeting Grannie Annie and Auntie Jeanette who made our visit so special! On top of the amazing staff the room was lovely, clean and super cosy. Breakfast in the morning was great and having just checked out...are looking forward to reasons to come back! Mostly for a big cuddle! Great time!More

Lovely atmosphere in lovely bar and great food. Nice service. We had a variety of excellent meals from a broad menu and can also highly recommend their own ice-cream for afters.

Stayed for three days over the Easter period in the Skylark suite. Beautiful room with a huge bathroom. Decor including the natural stone and roof beams added to the superb appearance of the room. Lots of places have lovely rooms etc but what made this...visit so different was the warmth and friendliness of the staff. Everyone without exception made us feel welcome. We ate in the restaurant for each night of our stay and enjoyed a varied menu with beautiful cooked and plentiful food. So, if you want a relaxing stay with good food, beer and the sheer warmth of the welcome go and enjoy.More

Went to Elsdon for the weekend and visited this pub for a social drink, and an evening meal. Jackie and Maureen were absolutely fabulous !! nothing was any trouble, and they accomodated our every need. The icing on the cake was St.Patrick's day, and as...we went by the pub, all the girls came out with their St.Patrick's day hats on to say hello !! what a wonderful pub !! hope to get back soon. xMore

Visited for a Sunday roast with a large group of work colleagues and not one of us were disappointed. My soup and beef roast was fantastic and there was more than enough veg supplied with it. 11/10 to the chef! The highlight for us were...the team of ladies serving at the bar, the till and our tables. I don't mean any offence when I say think loose women, a hen do and your favourite aunties. They were so upbeat and hilarious. I'd fo back just to sip a beer and watch them entertain. Absolutely brilliant! The venue felt more of a posh cafe/bar rather than a pub but I highly recommend a visit 👏More

Very friendly low-key rural pub, with great food (Sunday lunch last month and light lunch this time around). Brilliant and welcoming service, great beers including 2 cask ales, and an all-round great environment. Would definitely recommend a visit if you're out walking in the area...or passing down the A696 to/from the Borders.More

This used to be our favourite pub, (I know it’s up for sale), but the place was cold, the beer was flat as the nozzle was set incorrectly, 4 staff, No customers except us, place needed a good clean after Christmas, sticking tape needed removing...from along the bar. Hope this is just a blip.More

I would recomend this to anyone looking for a nice break in the countryside...with some fantastic views. We will definitely be back.More

Amazing, cosy little pub in a beautiful peaceful village. The staff were wonderful, so welcoming and friendly. We spent an evening in the bar and were the last ones there and had a lovely chat with the team before heading off to bed. The locals...in the pub were also really friendly. The food was delicious, and the portions were so generous. We were lucky enough to be given one of the suites, Skylark, and it was one of the most beautiful rooms I've stayed in. A huge thank you to the team at the Bird In Bush for such a lovely stay!More

Thank you Jackie and team for a really good funeral buffet. Lots of choices. So many people commented it was as good if not better than a wedding buffet. Everyone went back for more ( some of us several times) and there was plenty to...go around. Thank you very much from the Macpherson family.More

We stayed in Elsdon for 2 nights to attend a wedding, if we could give more than 5 stars we 100% would. The staff are so friendly, helpful and accomodating. We arrived late for our check in due to being stuck in an unbelievable traffic...from London, they’ve made sure that certain arrangements were made for us! Shout out to Jackie and Rebecca, thank you so so much! On top of this, the room was nice, clean and cosy, breakfast was a delight, and their coffee’s the best! would highly recommend staying here.More

Lovely spot for a pub/restaurant. Nicely refurbished from a few previous visits but service erratic and quality of food quite poor and really not good value for money. Staff mostly friendly but seem quite disorganised. Recommended for a drink rather than a meal - so...many better options around.More

Mince, dumplings and mash potato were very dry as if they'd been in the oven all day. Partners Hunters chicken was also dry with very little bbq sauce. The children's macaroni cheese was watery and straight out of a packet. The dining room decor was...very nice, and the public bar very good with some good local ales. A shame about the quality of food as its a very nice place.More
