Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We went with our granddaughter for lunch. The table we were given was right next to a 'stacking station', a waitress was stacking dirty dishes and cutlery next to our table. I asked if we could move, she said we couldn't as they were too...busy, I said that I was not paying £50 for a meal and sitting next to dirty dishes. The waitress side she'd move the dishes when she had a minute. She did afterwards move them. I thanked her, she didn't acknowledge me. It made for an unpleasant start of our £50 lunch spend. Our granddaughter's lunch was really lovely. An egg mayo sandwich, crisps, fruit and animal shortbread. My chicken burger was not a burger at all. It was a large, rather tasteless breaded piece of chicken on a cheap white bap that broke up when you picked it up. A tiny bit of green leaves on the side. Very unrefined and could do better Denstone. Make the chicken smaller, give it some relish, and maybe a gherkin for flavour, and on a brioche or proper burger bun. The chips were great. Still a great place, but maybe not a big spend next time, just coffee and cake.More

We went for a pre-booked afternoon tea. Expensive for the portions, the food was ok. They sat us right in the centre of a very noisy mid-week cafe. There were people just having a coffee who were seated next to windows with views in quieter...areas. I think they should put people who have reserved tables for afternoon tea in nicer parts of the cafe.More

We were really disappointed during our visit. We sat in the garden with our dog to have breakfast. The food came out before our drinks, and we had to chase to find out when the drinks would be arriving. The food was not great for...the price we paid! I asked for the extra side of bacon and was charged £1.50 for one rash! The garden has a massive issue with wasps. We had to move into the cabin to get away from the wasps while we were eating! Not great at all!More

We have been irregular customers at Denstone Hall Farm Shop for a number of years. We always found it a pleasing place to visit. Unfortunately this viewed changed when we had a family meeting on 17/08/2023. We ordered food for a lunch snack. My wife...had Quiche and salad. The Quiche was lovely but the salad consisted of, one cherry tomato cut in half and a few bits of lettuce with a small pot of coleslaw and a few chips. We could not class this as a salad. I had the oatcakes with cheese and bacon. Previously these have been delicious. What a disappointment. The bacon had been shredded and was so sparsely distributed it was difficult to taste with the cheese. Cutbacks but this is ridiculous. We did not complain at the time to avoid embarrassment to other members present. The food prices are not cheap and we expected better quality than we received. We left feeling we had not received value for money and will not be going back again.More

Have passed a few times when close by and decided to call in for breakfast with 2 young children. Very good quality breakfast - we all had traditional English and you can tell the ingredients are quality. Mind you at £54 including drinks for breakfast...it wants to be! That’s before we had coffee to follow. The only odd addition was the ‘oat cakes’ which were just pancakes - seems to be a bit of a speciality here….:but was just very odd with a full English. Would much rather have had a hash brown. Also a bit stingy to want £1.35 for a slice of toast with it. But apart from that, it was very tasty. Lovely seating areas outside but everyone was getting pestered by wasps unfortunately. Everything in the farm shop and adjoining shop was excellent quality but again prices to match. We will definitely return again when close by…..but make sure we’ve saved up first!More

This was ideally located to meet up with my son who is from Burton on Trent. Plenty of room both inside and outside. The food was freahly made and very tastey.

It’s lovely to sit outside of the cafe here with such a beautiful view. I have tried several dishes recently & I’m really grateful that at a ‘farm’ shop and cafe they cater so well for vegans & have so many gluten free options or...adjustments that can be made. I have enjoyed the food that I’ve had. The only criticism I have is the tea always tastes “like the kettle” so I’ve started to refrain from having it.More

We were really looking forward to our breakfast before a long walk ahead but sadly didn't live up to expectations the eggs & avocado were piled on top of 4 slices(!) of soggy wet toast and the eggs weren't free range deep yellow more a...wishy washy version which was a surprise given its a farm shop. Our toast came well done to burnt which we obviously sent back. The breakfast was meant to have bacon but this was forgotten! All round we felt quantity had won over quality :(More

We bought 2 items from the farm shop and when we got to the till we were told that this till is not for cash payments so we went to the other till (which said card payments only) We were then overcharged. My wife told...the cashier that that was not the price displayed but she overcharged us anyway.. We went back to check the price and returned to tell the cashier she’d overcharged us. She went and checked the price and refunded us the difference .Their was no apology of any kind for their mistake. I think some customer care training would help.More

Went over the Easter weekend with family and despite it being very busy the food was lovely and hot on arrival as well as being served pretty quick after ordering. The quiche is lovely and would have again. The front of house service was not...the best - we were asked if we were ready to order despite having not even sat down in our chairs or looked at the menus, they messed up on our order and duplicated a meal. We ordered some drinks which were only provided after we had eaten half our meals and asked twice about our drinks. I would go again as the food was lovely however I would be cautious about the service.More

Our lunch was good, for a start. But above and beyond that, being Scottish, I was curious about their ‘oatcakes’ because they looked not remotely like the oatcakes I know. I interrupted Jasmine, one of the staff serving customers to ask her about them. She...was delightful - very friendly and helpful. What an asset you have in her, Denstone Hall! She described the ‘oatcakes’ and then very kindly volunteered that she would ask the chef if he would prepare one for us to try. It was served to us with melted cheese as the filling as that was considered fairly typical. It was interesting; like a crepe. I bought some for the deep freeze. We were very impressed. Great service.More

An overall very poor experience. My wife received her meal and mine arrive 15 minutes later. It should have been oatcakes with egg and sausage. The sausage was cut up into small pieces and was overcooked and quite hard in places, the egg was very...small and the top half of the white was still runny. The oatcakes were fine. When we had finished our meal the waiter reached between us and across to remove items without any word to ask if we had indeed finished. Really very rude. I also noticed that the fire escapes through the patio doors were both blocked by tables and chairs. So not only is customer service not important to you neither is customer safety. THE REAL VALUE OF AN ENDURING BUSINESS LIES IN THE ABILITY TO PROVIDE GOOD SERVICE.More

My son attends the nearby school so Denstone Hall Farm Shop and Cafe is a regular for us as a family but not anymore. We came into the cafe for a late lunch/afternoon snack and was very disappointed with the experience. My son's burger took...25 mins to arrive with no apology or reason for the delay and I had long finished my tea and scone. When I asked why this had taken so long the waitress didn't know and was clearly not interested. Another member of staff came over to explain that there was none of the normal burgers left so they had used a thicker burger which needed longer to cook. When I explained this delay had now made us late the waitress said 'it's not my fault,' and 'would you like a box to take away', and, 'we've been really busy'. My son's burger cost £13.95 which I consider is restaurant prices; and I would have received better service in McDonalds. I understand that these things happen in a busy cafe environment. However, I expect better communication than this and some kind of gesture of goodwill would have been appreciated, for example, the offer of a drink whilst my son ate his food. It's a real shame that this place has become a victim of its own success and lost sight of what makes them successful 'customers'.More

My two daughters and I went to Denstone Hall Farm Cafe to celebrate an early Mother's Day. My daughter is Vegetarian and therefore ordered accordingly an Oatcake with Mushrooms and cheese, but she had a surprise she found a small but clearly identifiable piece of...bacon. This was not only unacceptable but it meant that her mushrooms had been cooked in a frying pan that had been used for bacon etc. My chips were overcooked and some inedible. We have preciously been to the Cafe but are very disappointed with our visit this time and will be looking elsewhere to eat locally.More

If you sit at the tables outside dogs are welcome. I don't think you can take your dog inside the cafe and shop.
