Mixed feelings about this place, the food is lovely but the service lets it down. Not sure that wait staff wearing cropped tops is conducive to a food service outlet? Service always feels a bit lacking here, heard a table near to us ask for...their bill 3 times.....they also had been charged for drinks they didn't have and said it wasn't the first time. Might be an idea to get someone in who's actually trained in front of house to show them what good service looks like. Having great food and not so great service can bring a place down.More

Probably one of the best meals we've had in a long time. Went here on Thursday 31st August for an evening meal. We wanted a quiet, cozy evening to celebrate our anniversary, and that is exactly what we got. The food was absolutely lovely and...all freshly cooked. We had the set menu, and after the starters and mains, we were both stuffed and could not manage a dessert. Good portion sizes and at a really reasonable price. I have no hesitation in recommending this restaurant apart from the fact I don't want it to be so popular we would not be able to then book another table!! Will definitely be back. XxMore

Been here a few times before and even when quiet it's not the fastest of service, but oh dear, Easter Sunday was awful. Food very good, a carvery, so what can go wrong. Table for 6, took my daughter and boyfriend and grandson. Staff were...friendly and helpful. But the service? Sat at our table, after 10 minutes we ordered our drinks. 20 minutes later the starters turned up which was ok. 'Evrything ok', well, any chance of a drink? Eventually we helped ourselves to the carvery, nice. Ordered another round of drinks. There is no draught there, just bottles. 30 minutes later, still no drinks. It was a warm day. We had to ask for the bread rolls, ask for water, and the service was honestly abysmal. My daughters boyfriend said it was the worst and longest he'd ever waited for drinks. We were embarrassed to be honest. I didn't bother with desert, quicker to go home and have something and grab a beer out of the fridge. One of the young girls apologised and said a staff member was absent, but cmon, how hard is it for a few girls to serve starters, drinks (out of the fridge) and a few deserts. Yes, it was busy, but it was all pre booked! Honestly l, will not be rushing back anytime soon.More

Excellent Sunday carvery. Food expertly cooked. Spotlessly clean, you can even see into the kitchen. Staff warm and friendly. Delicious.

Food was very nice. Service could of been quicker. The burger my friend had looked really good. Would go again as it was good food at really good prices. I dont know if the slower service was due to the quiet restaurant and the other...people were a birthday party.More

My wife, brother, sister-in-law and I went for lunch at The Rose Garden. The food - duck, steak and chicken was excellent. The service from our waitress, Charlotte, was efficient and friendly. We all liked it very much and plan to go there again later...in the month. Would definitely recommend it.More

I went with my wife last night to the Rose Garden at Hockley as my son had paid for a voucher for a birthday present. We have been to every venue where the restaurant has moved to over the last 15 years or so. The...owner was Chef at the Hanover Golf Club where i was a member and I loved getting off the course on a Saturday to have his bangers and mash or curry or bacon sandwich. The meals i have had have never disappointed. Last night was no exception made all the better by the attention given to us by the lovely Charlotte, she took pictures of us as it was a celebration, nothing was too much trouble. I will be booking the Curry night when they resume again in February. Keep up the good work.More

We visited on Sunday 8th January as we had been given some vouchers for Christmas. My husband and I had a lovely meal. The food was excellent, the restaurant was warm and friendly and the service was wonderful. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this restaurant...to my family and friends.More

Visited the rose garden this evening for my husbands birthday and just can't believe we haven't been here before!! Such a gem on our doorstep! The food was simply outstanding and our server Charlotte was amazing. What a winning combination... Will definitely be back!!
