We had a truly amazing night at Fem Sma Hus last evening. We were looking for a restaurant with reindeer on the menu and didn't really have any idea what we would find. The restaurant is set in cellars under the streets of Stockholm, candlelight, romantic with fantastic service. The food was outstanding and worth every penny ( KR )... More

We were able to book on-line which was great for us. Asked for a cosy table as we were on honeymoon, this was only requested in the day! Super cosy table, lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. Do book as others were being turned away. Highly recommend.

We walked in on Friday night so we waited around at the bar to see if we could get a table and we did. The bartender was delightful. Once downstairs, the wait staff were all smiles and happy to accommodate us. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. I don't eat meat but had a meal of seafood (three starters... More

We discovered this restaurant in a business meeting and it was absolutely fantastic! The food was great and I was delighted with the Swedish cuisine. This is a must visit if you go to Stockholm!

This is a very interesting restaurant with traditional and typical Swedish food. It is a combination of a number of houses and therefore the building is interesting, historic and quirky as to where you are taken in relation to the various areas for dining. An excellent experience with very good service and we would strongly recommend it. One of the... More

Fem Sma Haus means 5 Small Houses from what I was told by the server. It is one of the oldest restaurants in the city and at one point it may have also been a brothel. The door to the restaurant is off on a little side street in the old city. It has multiple levels (split) with different seating... More

Nice place in the old town, in an underground local. Warm atmosphere, spanish speaking waiter, clasic decoration. Typical and really fresh food. We ate smoked raindeer with toast (amazing and surprising taste), salmoned trout (super fresh&well cooked) with sauce in a side, a lot of different breads with salted butter and a perfect flavored ice cream to finish. Nice swedish... More

The building is very old and the interior is nice, partly in a celler. They serve traditional Swedish food, including Reindeer.

Situated in Stockhols old town this restaurant serves food based on what is considered the finest cuts and raw materials for classic scandinavian fine dining. The rooms in 5 joined small houses have been used very creatively to make a restaurant that feels intimate despite its size. Not cutting edge gourmet experience but a charming and friendly dinner for friends,... More

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
