This is a beautiful restaurant located in Gamla Stand in a building from the 17 century very cozy and nicely decorated. The food was great food and the staff quite friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed the moment very much. Definitely will go back

For my last meal in Stockholm, I wanted something to be remembered. Fem Sma Hus was the perfect choice. Back in 2012 my sister and I had a delightful dinner at the restaurant and I often think back to it. This time was just as special as the first time I ate here. I love the coziness of the various... This is a lovely restaurant that specializes in classic Swedish cuisine. They have an extensive menu. It's 9 separate rooms on different levels and feels like a country place. Our service was excellent. She spoke English well and knew the menu items in detail so was able to made some great suggestions.

I have been twice to this restaurant hosting business associates. And i will not go again. The food is ok, nothing out of the ordinary. I do not really enjoy the overly crammed setting of climbing through multiple stairs up and down. The service is suffering due to the many tables being handled simultaneously. It must be really popular as... More

10 years ago, my husband was a college student studying abroad in Uppsala. He remembers walking past "Fem Sma Hus" with his friend, thinking it would be a fun place to go. Tonight, he finally had the chance! We appreciate the online reservation tool offered through trip advisor and were able to book a table a couple weeks before our... More

We had a truly amazing night at Fem Sma Hus last evening. We were looking for a restaurant with reindeer on the menu and didn't really have any idea what we would find. The restaurant is set in cellars under the streets of Stockholm, candlelight, romantic with fantastic service. The food was outstanding and worth every penny ( KR )... More

We were able to book on-line which was great for us. Asked for a cosy table as we were on honeymoon, this was only requested in the day! Super cosy table, lovely atmosphere and the food was excellent. Do book as others were being turned away. Highly recommend.

We walked in on Friday night so we waited around at the bar to see if we could get a table and we did. The bartender was delightful. Once downstairs, the wait staff were all smiles and happy to accommodate us. Every dish we ordered was absolutely delicious. I don't eat meat but had a meal of seafood (three starters... More

This is a very interesting restaurant with traditional and typical Swedish food. It is a combination of a number of houses and therefore the building is interesting, historic and quirky as to where you are taken in relation to the various areas for dining. An excellent experience with very good service and we would strongly recommend it. One of the... More

Five Small Houses you will find in the heart of Old Town, just off St. George and the Dragon. You are welcomed into a superb restaurant, which is made up of nine beautiful arches. These extend over five house, hence the name of the restaurant. There is also a modern conference room and lounges that are often used as function rooms On the menu you can always find dishes like herring, cured salmon, fillet of reindeer and a cloudberry dessert. Our parade course fillet´t of veal Anna Lindberg, it is served with morel sauce and potato gratin. It is also possible to organize wine tastings as related to conferences or as completely separate events.

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
