Delicious food. Free bread and salad at self service area before your main course arrives. Very relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Special, more reasonably priced, lunch menu only available in Swedish, but if you ask they are more than happy to translate orally-definitely worthwhile if you are looking to keep costs down. I would thoroughly recommend the vegetarian lasagne, it was... More

we booked table on 31. Desember 16. When we came there was a queue of 20 people who booked table at the same time. We waited 1 hour for out table. Food was very salty and qualitify of meat was not good at all. And for all this we paid about 250 euro!!!

The restaurant planned with 2 seatings, the first supposed to finish at 20.30 CET but didn't manage to get the guests out as planned. A big crowd had to wait at the bar or even in front of the restaurant - many guests got their seat 45 minutes after their reserved time or even later... That having said: food was... More

Good authentic Italian cooking. Service attention good. We had various dishes and none disappointed. If you see locals in the restaurant is always a good indicator it is good!

Been here a few times now over the years and it has never dissapointed. Yes, it is right in the touristy heart of the Old Town and there often is somebody who comes outside while you are looking at the menu to entice you in. That being said, the food has always been fine. It's a very nice cozy interior... More

Went here for our last meal in Sweden but food was not as great as we expected. We ordered fried calamarie and mussels for starter. It was ok but nothing special (however the starter was pretty big). We ordered meat ball and roasted reindeer for the main dish. I was a bit disappointed by the meat ball. I had it... More

Had a pizza, risotto and salad. Nothing special I thought. Location is great but it is over priced for what you get.

Going to Sweden and having meatballs sounds like a no-brainer and Agaton do a great job. The fresh lingonberries, mash potato and gravy are all superb. The complimentary salad was also really tasty - don't forget to take a couple of the small bread rolls, so delicious. It was very busy at lunchtime and lots of Swedes in there too.... More

The italian food was "OK-ish" but not what you''d expect for the price you pay. It got very loud and crowded which made the whole place feel more like a mass consumption bar or pub, not a restaurant. It also smelled like some cheese had gone bad. Would definitly not return

You can savour Agaton's well prepared meat and fish dishes in a warm, pleasant environment with a Mediterranean atmosphere. The menu also features a host of pasta dishes and excellent pizzas served direct from the oven. Choose from other Italian specialties, such as: zuppa di pomodori e chilli con risoni (tomato and chilli soup with risoni served with parmesan and basil cream); pasta ai frutti di mare (fresh pasta with mussels, scampi, squid, garlic and white wine and tomato sauce); as well as splendid desserts such as mousse di cioccolata con fragole e Grand Marnier (chocolate mousse with strawberries dipped in Grand Marnier).

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
