Going to Sweden and having meatballs sounds like a no-brainer and Agaton do a great job. The fresh lingonberries, mash potato and gravy are all superb. The complimentary salad was also really tasty - don't forget to take a couple of the small bread rolls, so delicious. It was very busy at lunchtime and lots of Swedes in there too.... More

The italian food was "OK-ish" but not what you''d expect for the price you pay. It got very loud and crowded which made the whole place feel more like a mass consumption bar or pub, not a restaurant. It also smelled like some cheese had gone bad. Would definitly not return

I was in Stockholm for a day only and I felt like salmon that day. I was attracted by the warm feeling of the restaurant but I realized it was an Italian restaurant! As the waiter gave me the Italian menu and since I am Italian I asked for the menu of the day. The salmon was special! I also... More

Popped in for a quick meal post return to Airport. Food arrived swiftly as promised. Peppered steak was excellent, pasta and reindeer also good. Bill was 1000 Krona for 3 mains and some soft drinks. Good atmosphere.

As we walked through the old town, we passed the restaurant, the candles caught our eyes. The staff warmly greeted us, and we immediately knew we picked the right place to enjoy our first dinner in Stockholm. The food was amazing, and staff was over the top, most notably Peter. We cannot say enough about Peter, he was knowledgeable, friendly,... More

We visited this restaurant on Sunday 20th November - a party of five - which included myself, my husband and our parents. I have admired the restaurant from outside on a few visits to the Old Town and looking for somewhere to eat prior to us going back to the airport, decided to try Agaton. We were able to get... More

Visiting Sweden for business and pleasure and was attracted into the restaurant by the decor as well as the menu. It was very busy, always a good sign and we weren't disappointed. I had the fillet steak and it was absolutely delicious. The staff were very friendly and made us feel very welcome. If I come to Stockholm again I... More

The place was chock-full when we came in but we got a table in less than 10 minutes. The bartender didn't pay any attention to us but the proseccos we ordered from the waiter at the table arrived reasonably fast, as did the food. Both the starters and pizzas were very nice and made of fresh, tasty ingredients, like in... More

After a full day of walking around Stockholm we were trying to find a place to eat around the old town that it was not extremely expensive (rather impossible). We found this restaurant after being almost starving, went in after seeing the menu outside. My girlfriend wanted the meatballs and I was in for pizza or pasta. Pizza is not... More

We passed by in daytime and thought it look a good venue for the evening, also it seemed reasonably priced in comparison to others. Staff attentive, my husband had a nice seafood pasta, and my grand-daughter ate all her spagh.Bol. Three of us had the Quattro stagione pizza which was disappointing to say the least. We had expected it to... More

You can savour Agaton's well prepared meat and fish dishes in a warm, pleasant environment with a Mediterranean atmosphere. The menu also features a host of pasta dishes and excellent pizzas served direct from the oven. Choose from other Italian specialties, such as: zuppa di pomodori e chilli con risoni (tomato and chilli soup with risoni served with parmesan and basil cream); pasta ai frutti di mare (fresh pasta with mussels, scampi, squid, garlic and white wine and tomato sauce); as well as splendid desserts such as mousse di cioccolata con fragole e Grand Marnier (chocolate mousse with strawberries dipped in Grand Marnier).

Staying in Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen

Neighbourhood Profile
Gamla Stan & Riddarholmen
Gamla Stan is Stockholm’s historic old town and home to the Swedish Royal Palace. It’s the most central island of Stockholm and accompanied by the small island of Riddarholmen, mainly known for its famous Riddarholm Church. Gamla Stan tends to be a bit touristy at times but is definitely worth visiting: take a stroll past the well-preserved buildings and through the small (and also Sweden’s narrowest) alleys, which will make you feel like you’ve travelled back in time. This neighborhood offers a great combination of historical buildings and traditional Swedish restaurants.
