We had heard about this place from some friends who said it was the closest they had seen in Stockholm to a British type gastropub - restaurant quality food served in a relaxed environment. We gave it a try on a Tuesday night and were not disappointed. We sat in their dining room which is like a cosy bistro complete with table service, candles and cloth napkins
Scallops and black pudding as a starter, followed by a beef wellington for me and a hearty winter salad as the veggie option for my other half.
The choice of wines was more extensive than we would have thought - I guess this is a restaurant after all!
We didnt have room for desserts but they looked very tempting. Apparently the Old Brewer also does a traditional Sunday lunch so we made a note to come back for that.
The staff were a mix of Swedes and Brits and were really really friendly. This place has only been open for a couple of months apparently but I wish them good luck with it.

The staff are always delightful and knew me on a first name basis after only a few visits. The menu is updated regularly and the kitchen is outstanding, orders are usually served expediently and taste great. As English beers are generally my favorites I appreciate the cask ales as well as the generous selection of taps, although you do end up paying a bit more than some other venues nearby, the hospitality and atmosphere more than make up for it. I also can't help but notice that several of the bar staff come here to eat and drink on their own dime and time as well. To me that's a sign of an establishment that takes good care of their own.

Fantastic food and a lovely atmosphere. We started with a perfect scotch egg, then I had the delicious fish and chips - tasted just like should! My husband had the beef wellington which he said was delicious and we of course had to finish off with the sticky toffee pudding which was divine! They have a very good drinks selection too. We will definitely be back!

Superb! Great selection of beers including real cask ale and IPA from England, dinner was even better than I expected. I had bangers and mash with gravy and peas, perfect in every way. The real show stopper was the sticky toffee pudding for desert, I’ve never had better and it’s a personal favorite of mine. Service was friendly and professional the guys really make you feel at home which is a rare thing in Stockholm I find. Engaging and welcoming from the second we stepped through the door. I can’t recommend The Old Brewer highly enough. We will be back

This was sheer perfection. Scallops with black pudding followed by a meltingly soft beef wellington with just the right amount of red wine jus. Would have taken a picture, but I was too keen to get stuck in.
Food was flawless, beer range was excellent and the welcome was fantastic.
My sambo had booked this as a birthday treat since I've been missing home, and this really hit all the high notes. Will be back to try the sunday roast next!

We visited on a weekday August evening for drinks and dinner. We were warmly welcomed and had a fantastic evening.
The food was freshly prepared from great ingredients, and very tasty. I’d really recommend the chorizo Scotch eggs!!
Service was really attentive and friendly.
Make sure to visit the Old Brewer when you’re in Stockholm - you’ll have a great time.
Thanks for a fab evening! We’ll be back soon!

Visited tonight for the third time in three weeks. Great fish and chips - just like home. The chef has perfected mushy peas. British beer is good as is their choice of wine. Really friendly welcoming helpful staff - a real find and a definite regular for us.
Give them a visit - you won’t be disappointed.

I am staying in Stockholm till just before Xmas, I try to stay away from English food and immerse myself into the local culture and cuisine, however, being a Sunday I did fancy a Sunday roast.
I googled and found the old brewer, it was a mile walk and worth every step. I had pigs in blankets to start, then traditional roast beef and yorkshire pud for mains.
It was simply delicious to the point I could have licked my plate. The pigs in blankets were what they were and very nice, the main roast was honestly gorgeous with a nice sauce/gravy. I uploaded a couple of pictures, there were green beans hidden under the beef.
Staff were very friendly and just a very nice place, and yes I will go again next Sunday.
The only negative I can think of, and this is only for us Brits who pile on the food for a Sunday roast, it's not like back home where you need a sleep afterwards, portion is a la carte size and not what you would serve yourself back home, however, I am not going to knock my score for my greedy insight!! The beef was super tasty and same for the whole meal.
Honestly worth visiting, menu looks great and the food was sincerely delicious.

Definitely the best Fish & Chips in Stockholm.
Super friendly staff. Top food and drinks.
Been here too many times.
Sausage and mash is nice
Pies are savage
Sunday Roast could have a few more spuds but Amy favorite is the fish and chips.
The new prawns and home made curry sauce is super tasty.
Pints are lovely too.

I've been here many times, from having a quiet glass of ale, to spending a whole afternoon with great food, great beer, and great company. Excellent all round. Serving ale at the right temperatures was always going to win me around (as its near impossible to find in Sweden), but the top-notch food and staff puts the cheery on the cake.

We visited the Old Brewer for an early evening meal while we were staying in Stockholm.
Easy to book on line and we received a warm welcome when we arrived.
Lots of tables inside and some on the street outside.
Good selection on the menu and there was a specials board too
The starters and mains were really good and tasty. Unfortunately we were too full to order desserts but they looked lovely.
Service was great we were given enough time to choose options and they continued to top up the water bottle without us having to ask.
A great experience and we would return next time we visit Stockholm.

Enjoyed many Sunday dinners at The Old Brewer and never ever disappointed.. always high quality with great service. The Sunday Roast is quite simply the best roastie I have ever had - and yes it’s bizarre to experience this in Sweden. No it’s not the cheqpest, but it’s Stockholm - nothing is. Value wise - it’s great and it’s one of my favourite restaurants.. love it.

I’m not usually a great fan of British style pubs in other countries - but we found this one near our hotel on an evening when we were tired and didn’t want to go further afield. But the food here was excellent - traditional British dishes (fish and chips, sausage & mash etc) as well as other dishes with a more Swedish flavour. Apparently excellent beer as well (so my husband says). Nice atmosphere and very friendly staff. We ended up going back on another night as well.

Small, pleasant venue with a good selection of beers. The food is generally stable, a tip might be to choose from the chalkboard. Some strange mistakes lower the rating, such as the fries being badly burnt and the reservation times not being kept.

Vasastan
Vasastan is one of those neighborhoods that almost looks too good to be true. It has the winning combination of a central location, tranquility, and beautiful buildings – housing sophisticated bars and eateries – that makes this neighborhood Stockholm’s most sought-after place to live. If walking through this area makes you feel like walking through a fairy tale or picture book it’s no surprise, as it’s actually the film set of the famous Swedish children story Karlsson-on-the-Roof. No matter what season, Vasastan manages to impress in the sunshine, covered in snow and won’t even lose its charm when soaked in rain.
