We came here for the Sunday brand. The restaurant itself looked nice. We had a corner table but the seats were extremely small and you had to squeeze yourself to fit to the table. The plates were quite dirty on the backside. There was quite a good selection of different foods. Some foods were too salty and some didn't have... More
Do visit a "Finnish livingroom" in Alppila, 15 minutes by tram from Helsinki city center. Not a posh restaurant or decor but very friendly and relaxed staff. Big portions, now it is "BLINI"- season - try those with a cold beer! (Russian salty pancakes with different fillings). Try Finnish fish or reindeer stew. Kids corner for children, also childrens portions.
We had a meal out on Friday with a few friends. The servicd was really slow, perhaps they didn't have enough staff for the groups they had. The food was good enough, although lacked taste maybe its Finnish food that is like that. It would have been nice to have the condiments on the table rather than hidden on a... More
Weeruska is my current favorite place around this area when I'm in a need for a pizza. If you're bored with the often tasteless pizzas from the every corner kebab places, try Weeruska's! My favorite is Pesca with smoked salmon, shrimps, tuna, green olive and Aura blue cheese. I have also tried the Pubi Burger and it was really good,... More
Went out for "one beer" and a little dinner with friends. Weeruska is a suitable place for that. The menu includes a lot of Finnish classics. Don't expect a gastro pub. The food is good though. There is a nice neighbourhood pub -atmosphere with friendly and frank personnel. Well worth a visit especially with thirsty and hungry friends.
Food: The selection of food was disappointing, comparing to brunches we usually go to. The starters/coldbuffet: A few salad-like items (all drowned in factory made feeling sauce of some kind), a (surprisingly tastless) warm smoked salmon, "the cheapest you can find" -type parmesan chips (most probably straight from a whole sale bag), a guacamole-ish item that maybe also came from... With Weeruska, you never know what you are going to get. The service is sometimes so bad it's funny, and sometimes really slow as the other reviewers write. But on a good night, you'll leave happy after a good beer and a good burger, and good service too. You just never know if it will be a good night. Maybe... More
