We turned up on spec and we were able to get a table for dinner. The restaurant was busy on a Tuesday evening. Small and beautifully furnished restaurant, with quality glassware, linens etc. The reindeer was delicious and the food was carefully presented without being iverstyled. You know you are in Finland. Which reminds me, try the Finnish gin and... More

Followed recommendations for a 3 dish menu with wine fitted to the dishes. Were served fish soup, a white fish with veggies and som ice as desert All good - not stunning but very solid. Really liked the dining "room" in the cellar which allowed privacy. Would come back ! Helpful? Thanks for a hf vote.

Took a salmon soup which was good but nothing extraordinary. Desert was a small chocolate mousse at over €10 which was massively overpriced. Restaurant has a good reputation for local cuisine.

We were there twice, just wanted to come back due to their salmon soup, one of the best I have ever tried. We also tried elk and reindeer, very nice both. The menu is not too big, but everything we ate was very tasty and excellent quiality.

Excellent choice. Good service, delicious food and a very good city centre location. It has a relaxed atmosphere but the staff are very attentive and I could not criticise anything.

Aino is pleasant enough but, apart from a blueberry pastry that turned out to be a blueberry cheesecake, under-delivers on flavour. The dining room is very brightly lit and the tables too close together, meaning that this isn't the most intimate ambiance. The cuisine, described as Finnish, underwhelms in several departments. The "traditional" elk dish is like a burger patty... More

6 of us dined at Aino and not 1 of us could find a single small fault. if in Helsinki this is a real must for dinner and we all strongly recommend the Reindeer fillet--it melted in your mouth. The staff were friendly, attentive without being over bearing. A very enjoyable evening

This pleasant restaurant is located on the centre of Helsinki overlooking the Esplanade. If the weather is nice you can sit outside in lovely surroundings. I would definitely recommend a reservation - we were there at around 6pm on a Monday and after we arrived several people were turned away. I had the reindeer steak, which was excellent, my wife... I visited this restaurant a number of years ago and was suitably impressed with the quality of both food and service. Sadly the establishment has changed hands and with it the standards set by the previous owners have dropped considerably. The service was extremely lacking but that was due to the fact that the managers prefer to employ far too... More

Had to try some Reindeer steak before i left and Aino was the most reasonable choice with decent price. Had the lunch menu with the Onion Soup and Reindeer dish and white chocolate mousse for desert at 50 euro approx. Food is fine dining and high standards. Portions are small so don't come hungry. It helped me checkmark my Finnish... More

Aino is a Finnish restaurant, located in downtown Helsinki near the Kauppatori marketplace on the historic Esplanade. The restaurant seats about 100. Aino?s menu is inspired by traditional Finnish foods and the kitchen uses primarily Finnish seasonal ingredients: freshwater and saltwater fish, lamb, wild game, reindeer, vegetables, mushrooms and berries. The chef?s goal is to create pure flavors and generous classic dishes. In the basement, vaulted ceilings of old brick create a warm setting for dining with friends or co-workers. In the coal cellar you will also find a 12-seat vaulted room, Aino?s chamber, which seats 8 people, and the 28-seat Vaulted Brick Room. In Aino?s cosy courtyard is the 70-seat terrace, a verdant oasis in the middle of the city, and out front there is a 24-seat sun terrace. The terraces are open whenever weather permits.
