The best experience in Reykjavik, hands down. What a fantastic evening and experience had. We went for dinner on Wednesday evening and we were absolutely delighted from start to finish. The service was impeccable, friendly, well informed and delightful. The food is on another level...of perfection...Tasty, fresh, local, well presented and the flavours, mind-blowing. Special mention to Nick, the Head Chef for making our experience an absolute jaw dropping memorable moment. I will definitely be returning as Fish Market is definitely the place to go in Reykjavik. Nothing disappoints on this menu, It is definitely worth the hype. Well done and Thank You!!More

We were staying at the Reykjavik Centrum Hotel which is next door to the restaurant, we came out of the hotel and nearly walked straight past it ! This was one of the best meals we had in Iceland and the food was absolutely stunning,...service impeccable and we were lucky to get a table without booking as the restaurant was busy. If you love fish then this is absolutely the place to go. We had house wine with the fish and it complemented the courses beautifully.More

Small, charming and friendly atmosphere. Absolutely great service and staff speak several languages. Good selection of honed alcoholic drinks and local beer. Taste of the food was waaaaay better than expected. The able of 9 and we were all pleased. Lightly Salted COD dish was...impressive, wasn’t expecting much but the chefs play with the pallet was spot on.More

The fish at the beginning was my favorite and then there was duck and lamb. Hakon was absolutely charming! Our group felt this was the best resto so far.

We are on a family vacation to Reykjavik and my husband and I had been to the Fish Market before and really enjoyed it, so we took our family there for dinner last night. The whole family agreed to order the tasting menu but that...created a challenge for me because I have diet restrictions. Our server, Ulfhildur, went back and forth to the kitchen to consult with the chef, and together they designed a perfect dinner for me, too. My family loved the tasting menu and I loved the dishes they brought for me, too. We had a wonderful evening!More

Very nice place- good atmosphere and attentive service. Food was lovely- fish, of course and imaginatively prepared with a Japanese twist. Iceland is painfully expensive everywhere and this place is no exception so quite a sober evening ;-) but the experience was great and I...would recommend lovers of Japanese cuisine and fish in particular to seek this place out. By the way- skip desert and go to the ice cream shop a few meters down the road!More

We were really looking forward to coming here having read the positive reviews and pre checking the restaurant online before coming to Reykjavík. This meal was booked for my partners birthday, we frequent a lot of fish restaurants back in Scotland and we had high...hopes for this one. On arrival we were greeted by a young lady who took us downstairs to be seated. We were sat in our seats without a menu or water for over 5 minutes. A waiter then noticed we didn’t have menus and came over with them. We were recommended a bottle of wine and requested water. The waiter struggled to get the bottle of wine open then broke the cork. Although this didn’t bother us it set the tone for the rest of the meal. We had to request water again as it was forgotten about. On to the food, we opted for the fish tasting menu. Ofcourse the first dish came out before the water did. First dish was tempura prawns, very juicy but quite basic. We were asked whilst eating the first dish if we had received the second dish (scallops) yet. Very odd, it arrived just as we were finishing the first dish. Scallops in champagne were beautiful but small. Next dish was sushi, we were disappointed by this dish. The fish lacked seasoning and flavour. The scallop had no taste as did the yellowtail. We then waited ages for our next course which was the most disappointing dish. This was meant to be the main dish. It was cod, mashed potato and cherry sauce. The dish was tasteless, again lacking flavour and seasoning. We eat a lot of fish and have had some very nice cod dishes at restaurants but this was completely underwhelming. Our plates were then removed, we awaited the next dish. A waiter arrived with 2 plates of cod again (these were main courses), we mentioned we had already had this dish, the waiter then realised he had the wrong table, this was another service issue. Duck dish next was lovely and the best. Our dessert later was strange, not only did we ask twice what it was nobody even bothered to ask us at the end of our meal how it was. The meal in total cost 42,700 ISK. In our country this is £250. In our opinion we wouldn’t recommend Fish market to anyone, keep your money for somewhere that’s actually worth it.More

Excellent food, very good service, wine was very nice. The soup was delicious and the tartar of tuna was very well done and the fish was very good too. The location of the restaurant is central, nice atmosphere.

Thelma was very friendly and had great recommendations. We had the white chocolate cheesecake from her recommendation which we wouldn’t have tried before. We wanted to try Icelandic gin and she helped prepare a great martini. The food and service was spectacular! Would love to...come here again.More
