It's off the beaten track (beyond the old harbour near the Norther Lights Center) This place is value for money considering the prices you pay in Reykjavik Plenty selection of hot and cold buffet.

We came across this by accident and I was so glad we did. We just finished a Whale Watching Tour and were cold and hungry, walking by leaving the harbour we spotted it. We got the fish and chips, soup came with it, and we tried the fermented shark with a death shot (just had to try). The staff were... More

Great place! Not for furniture or other useless stuff. The essence is sea food: super, super super. Mr. Magnusson is a real master.

Eating out in Reykjavik isn't inexpensive, to say the least. Unless you shop for groceries and cook yourself, it'll be close to $50/person for any lunch or dinner. However, we had a very good lunch of fish and chips and a beer each for about $30 each at Sjavarbarinn at the port. The fish was totally fresh; and the batter... More

Oh boy, where we pleased to find this restaurant! It's off the beaten track (beyond the old harbour near the Norther Lights Centre) and you probably wouldn't find it unless you were looking: the area looks a bit residential and/or industrial but do make the effort to seek it out. The food is absolutely delicious (range of shell fish and... More

We visited Sjavarbarinn a few days ago and were welcomed into this fantastic fish restaurant. We had the famous fish soup (Heimsfraega Sjavarrettasupan) which was bursting with fresh langoustine, mussels and ling. it is the best fish soup we have ever had and asked for the recipe and Magnus the owner and chef kindly gave us a recipe book so... This was the best value restaurant we went to during our stay in Reykjavik. The food was delicious and all the accompanying salads were also great. The staff are super friendly and it's just a great no frills eatery.

Had the lunchtime buffet - excellent value for money. Delicious soup with bread for starter, selection of hot and cold buffet (eat as much as you like), for main. Coffee and water included. Very friendly. Will definitely visit again 😀
