One of the best restaurants we went to in Iceland. Small, quaint and perfect for a quiet dinner for two. Excellent service. The soup is an experience and extremely tasty. Cod was beautifully presented and melted in the mouth. Baked cauliflower was also lovely and...delicious.More

We visited the restaurant based on the reviews we read on Trip Advisor and we were amazed with our meals. We did not make a reservation and were seated when we walked in. By the time we left the restaurant was full which was not...the case with many of the restaurants we passed on the way home. The menu was focused on local products and produce so everything was fresh and flavorful. I would certainly go back again. Service was excellent as well.More

The food was absolutely amazing. It is not the cheapest restaurant, but man, that was totally worth it! The service was also excellent.

Atmosphere and service were great, the food was superb. We didn’t wait long for any part but the restaurant filled quickly. Make sure you have a reservation.

During our first day in Reykjavik, we walked past Old Iceland Restaurant. The menu posted by the door caught our attention, and we decided to go back that night for dinner. We didn't have a reservation and showed up around 6:45pm, peak dinner time, so...we had to wait half an hour for a table, but it was well worth the wait. I had the pan fried Arctic char with celeriac-potato mash, broccolini, pickled celeriac, hazelnuts, apple-cucumber vinaigrette and my husband had the lamb ribeye and slow cooked shoulder of lamb with baked parsnips, fried potatoes, beetroots, parsnip pureé and demi-glace. He made his a three course meal and we shared the starter (cured salmon with pickled cucumber, dill mayo, rye bread crumbles and smoked roe) and dessert (brownie with toffee, roasted oats, vanilla ice cream and strawberries), as well as drinks. The food was pricey (every restaurant in Iceland is pricey), but the food was fantastic. My husband loved his lamb, and while I loved the Arctic char and broccolini and sauce, I didn't care for the hazelnuts and apple-cucumber vinaigrette, but it was still an excellent meal. The salmon starter was amazing, and the dessert was delicious -- the ice cream was very refreshing. I am very glad we stopped in and I highly recommend Old Iceland Restaurant.More

What a relief to find Gluten Free options in the heart of Reykjavík, this was after wandering the streets for hours to try and find something (very hard to find in this city). Our waitress was very helpful - she also gave us gluten free...bread to start. The food was great, but very expensive (I think this is the case across Iceland). I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting to try traditional food!!More

The restaurant is cosy, staff are very friendly. The menu offers plenty of choices for food and drinks. The lamb pulled shoulder and rump was just perfect with a good choice of vegetables on the side. Definitely one to repeat.

We hadn't booked but we were lucky enough to get a table, the food was absolutely outstanding - we shared a starter & dessert and had a main meal each with two drinks, so ended up at over £150.00 but really couldn't not fault the...food or the service.More

Came here for a final meal ahead of our flight home and it did not disappoint. The two staff working the service were absolutely delightful and took the time to explain alternative options to my wife who has a lactose allergy. Food was delivered at...a comfortable pace and allowed for a good flow of conversation and when it arrive it was simply excellent. Minus the expense of a bottle of wine we had 2 courses for just under £100 which is excellent value for the service and quality on offer. I must visit.More

A real find. Walked in after looking at the menu as we passed by. Lovely cosy decor and quite compact. We were lucky enough to grab the last available table. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable, were quick and efficient. I had a lovely...starter and fish of the day (Wolf fish) fo the main. All beautifully presented and very tasty. Total bill for two came to £99 which for Iceland pricing was pretty good. Highly recommended.More

Lovely small restaurant on main shopping street. Nice environment and advisable to book as limited tables. We had the three course dinners with chosen wines for us. The fish soup was to die for 😊

The staff was rude and seemingly doesn’t like Americans (which may be a draw for some patrons). Despite the fact that there was an open table for four, the hostess refused to seat us- claiming the open table was taken, and told us to come...back a half hour later. We shouldn’t have, but we came back a half later and the table for four was still open. The hostess continued to refuse to seat us- even though there was an open table, and told us there was still a fifteen minute wait, at least. Clearly she didn’t want to seat us- either because we’re American or because we had teens. With so many amazing restaurants in Reykjavík, don’t waste your time.More
