I've been a regular here over the 2 months that I've been in Iceland. The food is fantastic, and the people are very friendly. I travelled around the country and had plokkfiskur many times, but this place does it best. It also has a beautiful view right on the old harbour.

This excellent restaurant serves the best fish I've ever eaten in Reykjavík for lunch. They serve a different fish almost everyday. Make sure you grab a seat on the terrasse in the summer and sit next to the wharf where you can look at the ships.

This is a lovely and friendly place on the harbour, where you can sit outside when it's sunny and get shelter from the often cold Icelandic wind. Their specialty fish soup is very nice and they have lovely coffee and cakes too. The staff is very friendly and the service is excellent.

One needs to know that there is a restaurant inside the Maritime Museum, by the harbour. And it is much more than a museum cafeteria, it is a real restaurant, run by a talented chef who has a simple but brilliant menu. Bright inside, but the secret weapon is the terrace directly on the harbour, where one can really enjoy... More

Honestly one of the loveliest fish I've ever had and beautifully presented. The restaurant looks relatively ordinary so I was very pleasantly surprised by the quality and presentation of our lunch. The area outside of the restaurant was also very pleasant in the afternoon sunshine. The staff were very helpful and friendly too, particularly Gunnar who served us.

Fresh plaice of the day (€15) was delicately cooked at Vikin, accompanied by potato threads and a fluffy remoulade-type of sauce and surprised me with rhubarb jam, a perfect composition. Vikin offers two variable fish courses of the day at lunch and coffee and cakes during museum hours. The coffee house is on the ground floor of the Maritime Museum... More
