I didn't fly all the way to Iceland to eat Italian food, however this restaurant was one of the few still open at the time (it was pretty late at night). We were pleasantly surprised at the quality! As soon as I saw the menu I knew it was going to be authentic and delicious. The pasta seemed to be freshly made and was cooked correctly (al dente). The 2 of the 3 dishes were very flavorful, one needed a bit more punch but still tasted very good. We even had a chat with the owner; he was super cool! Our dishes were carbonara, lemon spaghetti, and some sort of meat ragu. We were pleased.

We ate here in the evening before going on a northern lights tour. Good Italian food was just what we wanted to keep us warm and they certainly provided that. We liked the candles in the windows and the cosy atmosphere. A good choice for a reasonable meal in a pleasant environment.

We loved the atmosphere and the food at this restaurant. So much so, we came back for our farewell dinner on our last night in Reykjavik. The service and food were excellent. We had the spaghetti w/meatballs and pizza the first night we were there. On the last night, we had the fish dinner special, which was a white fish with potatoes and vegetables. My only disappointment was they only had house wines by the glass. You had to buy a bottle if you wanted something from the wine list. Not a deal killer though.

Me and my girlfriend had one of our first dates at Primo restaurant. We had planned for a authentic Italian experience and Primo fit the description in restaurant looks. Our goal was to enjoy pasta in an old fashioned setting. We had our first platter of meat served to us as a starter. The platter had some cheeses, meats and olives. We both enjoyed it and made our remarks to the waiter. We then continued to order our main dish: Pasta carbonara, a well famous dish around the world whom we’ve had many times before and after. The course immediately had a funky smell to it, and after the first bite we both made looks to one another. Being polite and well mannered, we didn’t say anything until the funky smell turned to foul taste. We both agreed that the dish was well under our expectations and we could not distinguish anything other than the foul taste. Looking back we can not tell if there were any bacon strips, because the taste had clouded all senses. We politely told the waiter that something was wrong and we could not possibly take another bite. The waiter took the bearing news well and asked us if we would like a refund, or get a new dish. The thought of wanting to eat more from this restaurant made us nauseous so we accepted the refund and went on our way. After about 2 hours our stomachs had settled. Looking back we think that the cheese was well foul and had quite possibly gone bad.

Really disappointed by this restaurant, easily the worst place we ate during our week in Reykjavik. It took over half an hour for 1 shared bruschetta starter to come, which was majorly underwhelming and a very small portion size in comparison to other Italians. By this point we were starving. While we waited, we overheard the waiter tell the table next to us that pasta was taking over 45 minutes (if that was mentioned to us in the beginning, we would have went elsewhere). It took a further 45 minutes before our mains were served. The pasta was pretty average and the pizza was tasteless. The topper was the bill, extremely overpriced for the service & food we received. Would not recommend.

We popped in for lunch, having seen the lunch menu advertised on the pavement outside. Only a few people in the restaurant, but waited to be seated at a table, the server didn't rush to attend to us, just left us standing by the door. Eventually after finishing a long conversation with another staff member, came over to us, showed is to a table and gave us the expensive dinner menu, even though the lunch time menu still had an hour to go. We decided to leave as they clearly couldn't be bothered to serve us, we found a pub, Prekid, almost next door and had a great lunch, somewhere that wanted our business, for less than half the price.

We stopped in here for a late lunch after strolling down the harbor’s edge and shopping. Lunch was tasty and quick - we enjoyed spaghetti, pizza, yummy garlic bread and green salad. Service was friendly and efficient. Ambiance was nice. Tasty meal!

We visted Primo on the evening of 1st March. We had a a table by the window and all was cosy. The beef carpaccio starter was an excellent choice followed by a very tasty baked salted cod main course. The tiramisu dessert was quite novel but finished the meal with a flourish. Well worth a visit.

Soooo Disappointing!!! My husband and I had planned to celebrate our anniversary at this restaurant but on the way there we decided to stop for a quick beer at Bastard, a must visit beer place in Reykjavik. When we got to the restaurant it was 45 min before it usually closes. The server who helped us was pretty nice and accommodating. However, when he waved at the owner, from the distance he looked at my partner and I and nodded his head as if they were closing . The restaurant was packed but they still didn’t want to take us arguing that they had already closed the kitchen. REALLY? I am really trying not to think that this restaurant denied us service because we are a gay couple but it s really hard to believe that they closed their kitchen 45 min before 11 pm, while the place was still packed and many had not yet been served. Frustrated indeed. Luckily we were able to get seated at 10:30 pm at Caruso, another amazing Italian restaurant down the street. Thank you Caruso! You saved our anniversary!

We are truly sorry that you got this feeling and we would never deny anyone service because of their sexuality, gender, ethnicity or anything else. Our restaurant closes its kitchen at 22:00 and the restaurant at 23:00. The kitchen was closed when you arrived and therefore we could not service you as you showed up too late. The nod that the owner gave was because the waiter was checking if the kitchen was closed. We are glad that you managed to get a table at another restaurant that has its kitchen open longer and that your anniversary was good. We wish you all the best for your anniversary and all the love to you 🏳️‍🌈❤️💙💜💛💚

Our food was amazing! It was really really good. It was fresh, a lot of things on the menu are homemade and overall it was a delicious meal. I enjoyed the intimate setting as well. They have a good menu with lots of options! Definitely picky eater friendly too.

Visited here on our final night in Reykjavik and were satisfied with the food. We all had pizza - a Margherita, an Eggplant Parmesan, and Mexican. They were thin, had lots of topping, and tasted good. Also had 1 garlic bread to start - was decent and incredibly garlicky! Service was quite slow, but not horrendous. Price high but typical for Reykjavík at around £20 for each pizza. We used a 20% off coupon we had. Rated 3* as while it was good and we weren’t disappointed, food and service weren’t spectacular, particularly given the price, and they also didn’t have 2 of the drinks we ordered.

We ate at Primo on our first night in Reykjavik. The food was absolutely delicious and, we thought, really good value for money. Loved it. Cozy, warm staff, and nicely done Italian dishes. I had the Cannelloni which did not disappoint. We came in a little close to closing time but were still warmly welcomed by the staff. The mulled wine was a perfect holiday treat.

Very quaint little place, was sat by the window with a candle. The restaurant is decorated beautifully inside, quite dark and rustic, with lots of candlelight. The food we had was good. I had a cod and mash main and my partner a pasta dish. For desert I had the chocolate fondant, which was ok. The wine was good.the food was reasonable for Iceland. The service unfortunately was a little slow. I had to ask for desert menus etc. On the whole, we would really recommend this place!

We were in the mood for italian, and went to Primo. Ordered Bruschetta Trio for starter, which was very good, and the Frutti di Mare pasta, which is top 3 of that dish I have ever eaten, it was excellent. Very nice wine menu. The staff was friendly and professional, and very pleasant.

Very surprised with this corner shop restaurant. Walking In behind the curtains and seeing an authentic Italian in rejkavik...food was very very good and on par with the best Italians in Italy and to be honest, for Iceland an acceptable price. Grazie
