We often stop off at the Church Café on our way to Wellington. The staff are friendly and helpful. There is a good selection of food and the coffee is great. The staff will also make sandwiches to order. If you like to sit outside there is a lovely outdoor eating area.

Ordered nachos for lunch, stale nacho chips with a tablespoon of mince thrown in for good measure which was sent back. No apology, they gave me a toasted sandwich as compensation which was nothing special. Husband had lambs fry and bacon which was basically gravy with mashed potatoes, no bite sized bits at all, he described it as baby food.... More

Step back in time with some real Manawatu history in this little Café that serves modern and delicious Café food. You become absorbed with your surroundings as you enjoy the quality food and excellent coffee.

A couple of hours north of Wellington and we were ready for a break from driving, and in need of coffee and a nibble. The church Cafe at Samson was a great find. Coffee was good and the cabinet food provided a refreshingly wide range of gluten-free fare. We couldn't have been more pleased. This cafe will become a regular... More

Called in for a coffee on the way from Wanganui to Napier. Wish we hadn't bothered....it's the only place in 2 years plus of touring NZ that moaned about us topping up a water bottle. What is the water there for if not to drink? Just top up the water container when empty surely? Overpriced, slow service and an overall... More

On our way from New Plymouth to Wellington, this was our second coffee stop. It is a lovely old church converted into a cafe. The cakes we had were home-made and lovely, the tea and coffee were lovely. We sat outside on the deck and enjoyed the fresh air and sunshine.

We were on our way home from the Elton John Concert on Sunday afternoon and needed a pit stop. To my delight roast chicken and veges was the special which was exactly what I wanted. My husband had bacon and egg pie with fries and aoli and finished off with a mille feuille just delicious. A quaint little place well... More

I haven't stopped here for a while, so thought ' I wonder if anything has changed?' sadly no... Grumpy service and food very poor.. pancakes were from the supermarket. few bananas chopped up on top and a squirt of syrup..., a slice.. it was suggested that I have it warm... yes I could see why.. it was as dry as...
