This was our first visit, having been recommended by friends. Warm and friendly welcome, polite and friendly staff, delicious food and an excellent atmosphere. Fixed price lunch was great value, along with wine offer, €5 for a glass plus free refills. Definitely worth a visit.

My husband booked for my birthday 10 June From start to finish staff were amazing. A varied array of food waiter and owner Fernando were very knowledgable about the food and ingredients. Fernando showed us how to navigate the barrels of wine self serve, which...both red and white were easy drinking. Dined at Solar Do Farelo tonight and collectively decided (6 of us) it was the best meal thus far in our 9 day Spain/Portugal vacation. We met Fernando, the owner, and were treated like family. Absolutely first class as always. Fernando the owner always makes you feel so welcome. This is our 5th visit in 8 years. My husband had the oxtail as always because it is so good, slow cooked in red wine, its juicy and succulent. I usually...go for the lamb but chose the steak stroganoff, for €5 extra you can help yourself to as much red or white wine as you like during your meal. The red wine is very nice. You can choose additional starters but we had enough with the bread, garlic carrots and Olives. We had the mixed dessert plate which was delicious, especially the chocolate mousse. I had a white coffee and a large bottle of water. The food was quality and offered good portion sizes. Our whole meal came to €56 . What sets this place àpart is its authenticity, ambience and its owner and staff. It is situated between Alvor and Lagos just off the N125. We have been here many many times. Every time is the same. Great Fernando always makes everybody welcome. The setting is beautiful, staff efficient food hot and delicious. What more does anybody want.

We took a chance on this restaurant as its over an hours drive away from where we live, hoping the reviews were as good as they said, have to say it passed our expectations.The owner greeted us on arrival and even remembered our name from...the booking, nice little personal touch. I like that they do not have an extensive menu as everything they prepare is fresh and cooked to perfection. to top it off we didnt have wine by the bottle it was by the barrel for £4.50 per person and the wine was lovely. staff are very friendly, food superb, another little gem that we will be returning to.More

My wife and I have been coming here for 11 years and I can say with hand on heart that this is our favourite restaurant we have ever ate in....and we have travelled a lot. Fernando and his staff (especially Uri with his shared love...of fishing) are always so warm and welcoming, which is an added bonus to the amazing food served. A must is the beef Stroganoff which is incredible, but you won't be disappointed with anything on the menu. Lunch is great value for money with wine from the barrel on tap for only a small amount extra. A must for all food lovers.More
