This restaurant was recommended to us by a fellow traveller and it was even better than we expected. It wasn’t full of tourists, but a great local restaurant with nice stuff and excellent food. My boyfriend and I ordered an Espada, it was delicious, big portion and reasonable price.

We were taken here for lunch by a local guide on our day out around the island. Food was fresh, and enjoyable particularly the lapas, and the shrimps. A real local eaterie. Great value for money as each dish cost around 5 euros.

This restaurant was recommended by my sister in law . Good location with a good menu also. My partner and I had the Espada and I must admit that during my stay in Madeira it was the best Espada . The service was great and the waitresses uniform is probably the most fancy one in Madeira. The price is reasonable.

I call to book a table for 10 person and at first was told that they don't make any reservations. But soon they change their mind and said that they would reserve but we need to come on time to not lose the table. As soon we arrive (before booked time) there was no table avaiable and after asking for... More

They were apparently drawn by the prices. It was Easter Saturday and there wasn't much food left. My wife had fish and I chicken. Beverage selection was so limited that I chose to drink nothing. The food was OK. Service was rushed but mostly efficient. The prices were the lowest we found in any Madeiran restaurant. If you are in... More

On arrival a man seated at the bar reading the newspaper stood up, paper in hand and pointed to a table available in the back. The waitress soon came to the table and asked if we had ordered... no "good afternoon or hello" No menu was provided, she simply verbally advised of the what was available. Whilst waiting we noticed... More

This is our second visit to La Cala and it didn't disappoint. Their menus are good with different languages including English which makes ordering food easy. As we'd already tried the Espada fish which was very fresh and is among the nicest we've tasted in Madeira, we thought we would try the Steak served with an egg on top at... More

recommended to us by waitress in our hotel, wide choice for a 5 euro lunch menu, lots of locals use this place so pleasantly busy, they didn't speak English so they got a shopkeeper from down the street to come up and help, very friendly clean restaurant, (I think an expresso was .50 euro). its overlooking Canical on the ER109...
