Friendly staff, reasonably priced and really nice food. Couldn’t ask for more, definitely recommended.

Dropped in to the Mendip for a casual dinner while travelling and were very pleased we did. I ordered the scamp and chips. Crispy batter on the scampi, freshly fried chips and generous portions of coleslaw and salad. All very tasty. My partner went for...the vegetable wellington. A large slice of the wellington stuffed with a tasty variety of veg and accompanied by a good selection of roasted vegetables. We were both very pleased with the flavour, presentation and quality of our meals.More

Good experience for a family meal. Post lockdown the service went really downhill but it has improved now. Food was excellent and reasonably priced. As with a lot of restaurants it seems to take the staff ages to sort out your desserts but apart from...that I am happy that the Mendip Inn is back!More

We've just got back from a last minute one night stay and wow, what a great little find The Mendip Inn was. The room was spotlessly clean and had everything you'd need for a night away. The bar is lovely and cozy with friendly staff....We ate in the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast, there was plenty of choice including a variety of vegan options. The food was absolutely amazing for both meals and we couldn't fault it, from the presentation and quantity, to the quality and flavour, it was all outstanding.More

We have driven passed The Mendip Inn on so many occasions, but never stopped for food. Today we went in and it was a delicious surprise. It doesn’t look much from the outside, but the inside was super pretty and the food was very good...gastro cuisine. That good I had to give them this little post. Yes it’s in the middle of nowhere, not the prettiest location, but glad we gave it a try. We will be back! Recommendation: chicken supreme with mushroom sauce, the beef brisket and the sticker toffee pudding! More

My wife and I and another relative stayed for one night last week. Parking is plentiful in the Inn Car Park. It was busy when we arrived which is always a good sign. Our welcome was very friendly and we were immediately shown to our...room which was absolutely lovely. A large room with a roll top bath in it, and a nice but small bathroom. Everything was very clean. Our night stay was very comfortable and we all had a lovely full English Breakfast in the morning. We were able to choose which items we wanted the night before and send the order down so it was cooked very promptly at the time we requested. A short but very pleasant stay. Would recommend.More

We’ve just finished a Sunday Lunch here- I opted for the leg of pork and my Fiancé the Mendip Trio, consisting of beef, pork and lamb Wellington. Meals were beautifully presented but that’s about all. The meat was flabby and chewy and the roast potatoes...were undercooked. The bed of watery veg that everything was served upon lacked flavour and seasoning. The pub itself is lovely- I just wouldn’t have the roast if I ever came back!More

We called here on our way back from Cornwall. The landlady was very welcoming, beer was excellent and our lunches were great. Toilets very clean but I can't really comment on the internal ambience as we ate outside in the very pleasant rear garden.

Had high expectations but badly let down. One person in the group was forgotten when starters were delivered. When the main dish was eventually served one gluten free dinner wasn’t and could have caused real problems. The roast tasted as if it had come from...a canteen. One dinner was excellent, the ham dish, hence 2 stars and not one. The drinks were very expensive, the orange juice tasted like it had come from a cheap squash. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant.More

My husband and I had two excellent meals at The Mendip Inn during our recent holiday. Initially we visited for lunch on our first day and had such a good experience we booked for dinner on the Saturday evening. Everywhere was very clean and I...was very happy with the Covid measures in place. The staff were helpful, friendly and worked extremely hard, especially on the busy Saturday evening. Both our meals were well presented, of generous portions and very tasty. I would thoroughly recommend the Lamb Wellington. Thank you to the chefs and all the waiting staff for such enjoyable experiencesMore

We didn't book as we stopped by on the spur of the moment one weekday evening. But if you are thinking of a Friday evening or over the weekend, I would book, to be on the safe side.

Average cost for 3 courses is around £25 to £30 but definitely worth the cost for what you get.
