We were visiting Salzburg on a mid September weekend and at the end of each afternoon we came here to sit in the shaded beer garden and enjoy the fresh and flavorful beer. When you arrive you grab and pay for an empty regular or large stein and then step over to the beer pourers who fill your stein with beer made on the premises and stored in wooden kegs. The beer is so smooth. There are also a variety of food booths that allow you to order various meats, breads, and desserts. We loved people watching and enjoying the beautiful fall weather. This is a must visit in Salzburg!

A visit to Augustine’s Braustuebl is a truly authentic Austrian experience.
We’ve visited this place numerous times in the past in Winter and Summer. It’s awesome at anytime.
There’s a fantastic atmosphere created by a combination of locals and tourists.
We arrived mid evening for drinks and a snack to find the place absolutely packed full. It was noisy as a result of many visitors enjoying an evening out chatting with family and friends. Despite this service is rapid.
Part of the fun about this place is choosing the size of beer mug to suit your thirst from modest to enormous! Once you’ve made your selection you take your empty mug, pay for your beer, then join the queue to get your mug filled straight from the keg. To add to this, if returning for a refill can swill your mug in clean water under one of the numerous taps.
A variety of food can be found in the huge corridor leading to the beer halls. There’s pretty much something for everyone here. No nonsense, make your selection, pay for it and find your seat in one of the numerous halls.
This is a great place for couples, meeting friends and large groups. It’s family friendly too.
Check the hours of opening to save disappointment and look out for the main entrance, it disguises this enormous place. Once through the door you go through a large room before heading through a door and down a large and imposing marble staircase.
Augustiner Braustuebl is just a short and enjoyable walk from Salzburg city centre.

This place with its specific atmosphere is absolutely special. I am not a beer enjoyer but here I gladly ordered a couple of great beers in one liter mugs, the best beer I’ve had in years. But the place is about more than just bear - the large halls with so many people drinking, talking, singing are just special. Food is great, just the type of fatty food that enables you to drink a lot of beer. Absolute must visit when in Salzburg.

We came here for dinner on Karfreitag (Good Friday) and it was packed! Luckily, we were able to find seats at a communal table and really enjoyed the experience.
This is a brewery, so you can purchase draft beer very cheaply (3.80€/half liter). They have a number of food vendors at kiosks outside the hall. I found it similar to an American stadium experience. You have many different options, but each kiosk specializes in just a single type of food. There was a vendor for schnitzel, a vendor for pork, a vendor for bread, a vendor for cheese, nuts, and olives, a vendor for chicken, etc.
The food was great, because each vendor is focused on doing just one thing really well. So it was fun to sample the different offerings and enjoy the local beer at the same time. The people were friendly and a good time was had by all!

We went there for 2 nights out of our 3 nights stay because this place is absolutely amazing! A real gem in Salzburg for many reasons:
1. It is very reasonably priced. Get wings for 2 euro and spare ribs for 13 (with potato and all) or half chicken for around 11. Best thing - 1 pint for 3.60 or 1 stein for 7.2. And there is so much food variety its like a food court where you can order from any store.
2. The beer is to die for an absolutely one of the best I have ever had. I had 3 steins on my 2nd trip and it was just so good! You have to try it to believe it
3. The place is spectacular with many different traditonal halls and a wonderful garden place, which makes dining under the stars an absolute experience
You can get there with bus no. 4 or just walk about 15mins from the main Alstat (depending on where you are) but its not too far from the cruise place/bridge with locks.
This place is absolutely amazing. You have to visit at least once!

I had already been to this spectacular brewery in its winter version a few years ago and I honestly preferred it to the summer version, all developed in a gigantic garden.
Its typical features are precisely the beautiful rooms located inside, in this truly characteristic former convent.
The beer, needless to say, is the bomb and is quite cheap (7 euros a litre).
You pay at the cash register, collect a mug on the large shelves adjacent to the cash registers and serve yourself from the master brewers who expertly tap the beer from the giant wooden barrels.
Inside there are various businesses where you can order food of all types of Austrian cuisine.
Choose your favourite, order, collect and sit at one of the tables in the many rooms.
We ate a lot and very well!
Specially sliced shank, as well as kartoffelsalat, sauerkraut and dumplings.
The smoked salami accompanied by gigantic pretzels is also excellent.
Fun with friends is guaranteed!

Love this place! The concept is great and wish we had something similar at home. You go and pick up a stein and pay for the beer you wish, take it back to your table (which you may share with others) and enjoy. There are food places in there also. You could quite literally stay in there all day lol.

This is a great fun beer hall with lots of different rooms, a large outdoor area and good food options.
The halls are within an old monastery so there is a nice historical feel to it.
The drinking halls are all large and were of varying degrees of busyness. We opted for onevof the quieter rooms.
The food options are generally quite traditional- lots of meats and bread. All very good and fairly priced.
A great place to spend a few hours. It is a cash only venue so go prepared - there is an ATM out the back of the building if required.

Good, very nice setting with the walls of the beer factory, the courtyard of chestnut trees filled with tables where you can sit and drink. You go get your beer inside, you have the mugs to rinse yourself, then you go have it refilled (low price, €3.50 per 0.5 L pint) and return to the garden. Possibility of buying dishes at different stands. German toilets, where you urinate "in company". Can be inhibiting 😃

Very fun restaurant concept with large tables or outdoors. You buy your beer by the half liter or whole liter and your meal in separate shops. Cuisine without frills but good. However, prefer the mug per half liter (there is less foam).

"Unmissable" location for those passing through Salzburg; Augustiner beer factory, cloister and beer garden is a place where you can spend pleasant time on warm summer evenings.
A little chaotic the first time to understand how it works because it is not the typical restaurant where you sit and order; you go to the cashier, order the beer (note that the large one is the 1lt Mass and the small one is the 0.50...), you take the mug and go to have it poured directly from the kegs.
For food you can buy in the various establishments present both in the beer garden and inside; Austrian cuisine, fish, cheeses etc.
Restaurant prices for food, absolutely excellent for beer (7.20 1lt or 3.60 a half). It's not easy to find a seat in the beer garden...

Our tour guide recommended this place during morning walking tour but let us know it did not open until 3:00P and warned that it could get crowded - and it did! We arrived at about 3:30 to find many people already there on a Thursday afternoon. By 4:00 it was nearly full.
You grab a mug off the wall, got to payment counter, get a receipt, hand it to one of the guys pouring beer, find a table and ENJOY. The beer is Very Good and the food court has a number of good looking offerings.

We went to this “restaurant” because of the good comments and because of the history, since it has existed since 1621.
But it is actually a brewery that initially made a beer garden and then added concessions that offer different types of typical foods.
You buy what you want (cash only) and sit at one of the tables in the 5 rooms there are.
The problem is that we went on a Saturday night, well, at 7 p.m. which is night for Austria, and it was very full, there was almost no room in any room. We were able to sit at a shared table because 2 people left, a table that no one cleaned, and eat a not very good Milanese with a rather oily fried potato cut into circles.
And on the other hand, smoked pork leg meat with a lot of fat accompanied by sauerkraut, which was the only thing that was good.
The waiters wash the beer mugs by passing them through a little water, it all seemed very unhygienic to me.
The atmosphere is very festive

A must for people who love the Bavarian way of hospitality. The manager of this monastery owned brewery with its beer halls and garden is still an abbot.
Great beer at good prices. A "food-corridor" with various shops selling typical beer hall food. Everything self-service.
Always crowded! Be prepared to share a table with others and enjoy the inevitable conversations :)
I social and other highlight of Salzburg!

Unfortunately, the outside beer garden was closed due to the rain, so we had dinner in the restaurant inside. We had the house beer, schnitzel and spinach dumplings (?). It was very delicious.
The staff were very kind and could speak English, and although the menu was only in German, they gave us the Wi-Fi password. The spinach dumplings were translated by Google.
