After a fabulous but tiring morning in the museum quarter, this cafe provided just what we needed: comfortable and traditional surroundings, delicious and fortifying soup, and friendly service. All the other diners seemed to be locals who were warmly greeted by the proprietor - especially the delightful trio of older ladies sitting next to us. The best of Vienna!

I think it is less of a 'touristy' place. I saw many local people there. The waiter was very busy, but seemed very competent and professional. Food wasn't expensive, considering the average prices in Vienna. It was a liiiittle bit salty for me, but I still liked it. Some people might find this place a bit crowded or small, but... More

This cafe is very close to the Natural History Museum, so it was the best place for us to relax after the day in the city full of beauty and vibrating facts about past and presence of the universe.

Walking around Museum Quarter we stumbled upon this restaurant on a hot afternoon......... We decided to stop for lunch and drinks. The food was exceptional and service excellent. Perfect ambience to sit outside in the shade and savour the moment of being surrounded by some of Vienna's finest historical sites whilst enjoying some delicious Viennese cuisine.

A nice, centrally-located little spot to enjoy a drink in an authentic Viennese coffee house, in between sightseeing. The decor is impressive but not too grand, so you can easily feel at ease and inclined to kick back and relax. Prices were just a little high to our taste but the location was perfect.

We found this restaurant on our first night and food and service excellent. Also piano player added to atmosphere. We went back a couple of nights later and weren't disappointed enjoyed our meals and the staff really looked after us

Popped here for a late lunch looked nice enough from the outside and lady who greeted us was nice. However that's where the positive ends, the old man who runs the place is rude and inattentive and doesn't seem bothered, he rudely barked at my girlfriend that the napkin was only for the bread and that she couldn't place it... When we stay in Vienna we inevitable spend a lot of time in Cafe Bellaria. It's warm and friendly with the atmosphere of old Vienna. Great food, superb service, daily specials, excellent coffee and a great range of cakes. It's where we go to meet friends, have lunch or dinner. At Bellaria we always feel like guests not customers. This place doesn't even deserve to have customers. We wanted to get a coffee but were sent to the dark seats right at the back. The cafe area had about 3 tables sat out of a possible 20, and we were told VERY rudely that we aren't allowed to sit there unless we eat. When we asked why not seeing... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
