One of the most beautiful places in the center of Vienna to enjoy pastries and coffee, a meal or just to chat. The atmosphere and the delicious pastries are inviting! Arrive early before the line gets long!

I haven't been to them all, but I've been to enough to say that this one is the best in terms of the combination of coffee, pastries and decor. Not sure what the lines are all about--I've never waited.

Tourists lined up in the cold before the doors opened and lined up all day. Would be much more welcoming in the summer. Food especially desserts and service very good when you got a table. Enjoyed the visit would not return

We had lunch here recently. The food was OK, not outstanding. I think the reason so many tourists come to visit is the sensational decor, with the vaguely orientalizing architecture. Or maybe because it was once the preferred hangout for now famous intellectuals. Certainly nice...More

We visited late morning. Totally crowded. Took us two attempts to get a table. The interior is typically viennese, a historic place with decent service and inner-city price level. A bit noisy, perfect to look and see...

This famous traditional café with its 130 year history was first opened in 1876 and at the turn of the 20th century it was a popular meeting point for leading lights in the world of art, literature, politics and science such as Arthur Schnitzler, Sigmund Freud, Peter Altenberg and Leo Trotzki. Then, like today, the legendary literature café was a meeting point for all ages, regular guests, Viennese locals and visitors. Unique architecture combined with the best coffee specialties, classic Viennese cuisine and finest home-made pastries make every visit a special experience. Daily Live Piano Music from 5pm on! Reservations are strongly recommended to avoid waiting time - upon availability. Many thanks in advance for your understanding!
