If you know and love Greek food (as in Greek food served in Greek restaurants in Greece), this place will be a disappointment. But if, like me, you need a break from the meat-heavy, cream-sauce-laden Viennese cuisine, this place will fit the bill. Don't expect...More

NOT RECOMMENDED!!!! One of the worst restaurants that I have ever been. The food was awful. We ordered calamari and they looked very strange, like if they have been breaded several times before. DEFINITELY NOT FRESH! See pictures. The Musaka tasted like actually NOTHING. The...More

The restaurant is located in the fourth district of Vienna, not far from the Karlskirche on the lower floor. Two small, cozy, but can be stuffy halls are decorated in traditional blue and white colours. Visitors in the evening of a working day was a...More

During our visit to Vienna we were there for having lunch. The restaurant is typically Greek, starting from tables and chairs, service and menu. If you arrive, you feel like you would be in Greece and if you engage in this culture and accept the...More

Sokrates offers a good choice of Greek cousine. If food is ok, the location is really nice. In fact, the restaurant is along the Danube, really close to the U-Bahn station Donauinsel. Ideal solution in summer.

I'm giving this a 4 because of the smoking policy. The smoking area is right when you walk in the door and you have to pass through it on the way out. This was the only restaurant of a week in Austria where there was...More

Not every restaurant has to be or will be fantastic. And so it is with the Taverne Sokrates. It's not bad and if you want simple food at reasonable prices it's fine. The pluses - it's on the river, there are lots of other bars...More

Visited their summer location at the Donauinsel. The food was poor, without taste or love. Probably the worst moussaka I ever had. The prices are average I guess for the main dishes, but expensive for all drinks and coffees. And they even charged a tiny...More

The fourth district combines elegant tradition with
contemporary style and relaxed living. More than a
dozen town palaces and churches such as St. Charles
Borromeo have added glamour to a neighbourhood known
for its traditional retail and crafts shops, taverns,
cafés. Wieden is also home to Naschmarkt, Vienna’s
largest street market. Many bohemian types have found
their way to Wieden: meet them in trendy cafés and

Filipo is a half Italia of half Spanish restaurant, much better than Sokrates. Try their fried jellyfish and the mussels.
