I had purchased one of the Plachutta's cookbooks the last time I was in Vienna, so was intrigued by going to one of their restaurants. While we didn't have a reservation, we were able to have dinner (more later). My husband had the Wiener schnitzel and I had the Tafelspitz. Both were delicious. Mine was served as a cup of... More

It was a bit full when we visited even though quite late at night but the service was good and the food delicious.

Food was actually good and tasteful (roastbeef, gullasch with tomato salad) but staff seemed annoyed and unfriendly.. I had a lamp hanging right in the line where the waiter decided to stand every time - quite annoying that he didn't just stand on the other side of the table..

Came here with a couple of friends. We ordered the Veal schnitzel and we loved it! I also enjoyed the potato salad that came with it, very different from any of the ones I have ever tasted so not everyone would like it. My friend had a celeriac soup with truffle oil and it was delicious, I had a tartar... More

We enjoyed traditional Austrian dishes and food was really good. Small minus was that the waiter forgot to serve Gustostücke traditional Austrian way. Nevertheless, the meal tasted still very good. We also left without dessert as waiter came never (after bringing us desser menu) to ask what we wanted. Great atmosphere!

Once you´re in Vienna you must try local version of schnitzel. Instead of pork you should get the one from veal. I tried this one in Plachuttas Gastahaus zur Oper and it was perfect. As a side dish is the perfect option potato salad, also original. The place is really crowded so I recommend reservation and avoid this place if... More

The Plachutta Gasthaus zur Oper is a very popular restaurant located right next to the opera. We made a reservation for two persons two weeks prior our trip. It was worth it !!! Without a reservation you don't have a chance to get a table on a saturday evening. The restaurant's interior is kept simple and modern. Friendly and effcient... More

The resturant has a good location, tasty food and good service. The schnitzel was very-good but not unlike anything i've eaten before. The desert (chocolate mousse) was tasty and fresh. All the food was reasonably priced and the portions were on the large side. Godd place to have a lunch break while visiting Vienna.

This was recommended to us by Austrian friends - and we agree it was a great place to have dinner before heading on to the Opera ! We were lucky to get a table, on a Sunday, the place was jam packed !!! Classic and good Austrian food in a modern setting, good wine and excellent service. A nice start... More

Very good and professional service, had as always here the taflspitz and that is realy good, first soup, then toast with bone marrow and then superb cooked beef , vegetables with some horseradish, potatoes... Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
