This restaurant was recommended by a friend from Wien. We now agree ; this is the best resturant for Wien Schnitzel. Goose liver is also a signature. Highly Recommended !

Plachuttas restaurants are one of the most famous traditional restaurants in Vienna and one of the reasons is definitely their Wiener Schnitzel made of the softest veal there is. It just melts in your mouth. Even though with it you don't need any side dish, the potato salad that comes with it is also perfect. Portions are big, prices are... More

This place made my day! Excellent local food, great professional service and a beautiful hip decor! Great menu, excellent wines and very refined dishes. When you come in you think you enter a modern sushi place, but the next thing you notice is the local food culture on a very high level!!

I love Plachuta chain as their schnitzel is one of the best once in the whole Vienna. The restaurant service is at very high quality and the food is delicious. I definitely recommend the Plachuta near the Opera as it is near the tube station and the tramp stop so you can use the public transport to get there.

During my trip to Vienna, I really wanted to try the true Wienerschnitzel from veal, done as the emperor liked it. Plachuttas Gasthaus zur Oper was recommended to me, as I demanded a restaurant offering veal schnitzel, instead of the common pork one. Since we visited Vienna on Friday, I decided to book a table. I made a mistake and... More

Best schnitzel with potato salad. Try the great cucumber with sour cream salad to add to an already wonderful meal. This Plachutta deserves its place among the best restaurants in town and definitely the best our of its chain. The mood, the interior and the overall ambience creates a very positive and memorable feeling. Wonderful experience for the tourists and... More

My wife, daughter and I dined here on our vacation. We were told it had very good food and to try their Tafelspitz and wienerschnitzel. We did just that with some appetizers and local wine. The waiter was very friendly and spoke some English too, they were very accommodating with our 9 month old daughter in her stroller. They also... More

The food was excellent and the staff even better. It was a busy night and they had some computer glitches but our waiter was cracking jokes through it all. He recommended a great bottle of wine too. Wish i noted his name. Albeit the restaurant is in the tourists district but it seemed like a local's hangout more than tourists... More

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
