Dropped in for a quick drink and to warm up. Friendly greeting on entry very helpful. Great wine recommendation and great coffee. Food smelt wonderful but didn't actually eat.

Only wanted a lightish lunch so 4 of us shared a mixed cold plate - see photo. It was very reasonably priced and was delicious. The amount of bread was staggering!

We just made a short stop outside of this establishment to try the 'Sturm' which is wine in a very early low alcohol stage, more like weak cider. We sat outside and had a nice experience.

You reach Grinzing on the 38 tram from Schottentor on the Ring. On leaving the tram head up the main street towards the church. It is on the left before you reach the church. Go up to the garden and enjoy the quiet. The food is traditional and good quality. The wine is home produced and superb. The strudel is... More

Overall it is a very cozy place, superb if someone is visiting Europe rarely. You can enjoy the fresh air, the green scenery and a glass of a tasty Riesling. The service is good, though only until you have been initially served, then you are a bit forgotten. I do not really understand the buffet-thing, but this is not the... More

We visited on a Sunday night after eating in another Heurigen in Grinzing. Although they indicate that they are open late, these places close their kitchens relatively early and, if things are slow, they close early. We last visited Grinzing about 20 years ago and found that the number of Heurigens have increased significantly while the quality has declined and... More

We stumbled upon this wine garden in Grinzing because we couldn't find the one that was recommended. However, I am so glad we found it! It was very relaxing with a local, non-touristy feel. If you are in a hurry, don't go here, but if you are looking to try some very reasonably priced wines and eat good, home-cooked German... More

We stumbled across this Heurige on a sunny saturday afternoon at the beginning of April. It was very early in the season and therefore only a few tables out. We drank a lovely local wine and chose food from the buffet which included roast pork, sauerkraut and potato salad, all of which was delicious and very reasonably priced.

Neighbourhood Profile
Vienna’s poshest green leafy suburb is also its most romantic hotspot. Walk up Grinzinger Strasse with its many historic wine taverns. The tops of nearby Nussberg and Reisenberg hills make for great strolls through the vineyards, and the occasional discovery of a hidden winery. Popular local weekend hangouts are Neustift am Walde with even more great wine taverns, and café restaurant Cobenzl, up on Cobenzl hill – fantastic for great vistas of Vienna. The woodland around Kahlenberg has a wonderful and not too strenuous hiking path - just don't forget the insect repellent. If you have adventurous children, take them to Waldseilpark Kahlenberg (forest rope park Kahlenberg). A must-do if you want a taste of the Vienna Woods is a stop at Josefinenhütte next door with its great food, cosy interiors and wonderful outdoor space.
