After riding all the rides at the Prater, I had to eat something! I stumbled upon the Schweizerhaus with some friends and we had a blast! Our beers were amazing! Food wasn't too shabby either! I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Myself and a business colleague arrived in Vienna and decided we would like some traditional Viennese/Austrian fare, so we asked at Reception and were directed here. The bill of fare looked good, even with our rudimentary German, but when we spotted the pic of the dish shown above we were sold. 'Its for 2 people', the man said, so we... More

The Stelze and the real Budweiser is a must if you ever visit Vienna. Great atmosphere and the meal will be a great memory.

Right by the amusement park "Prater". It has the best authentic austrian cuisine and it's always packed, so be sure to make reservations. Really good prices for the amount you're getting. Im Prater, mit echter, guter österreichischen Küche. Es ist immer gesteckt voll und das mit der Riesenanlage. gepudert.net

I go to Schweizerhaus for one thing and one thing only - the Stelze! Tastes great every time and the skin is just perfectly crunchy! As a side I prefer the sauerkraut to the potato salad. The beer is great as well. Now don't get me wrong, other food might be good as well but as said when I'm there... More

Went there on a sunny november weekend. Service is very fast despite of the hundreds of guests. Food was very tasty. What really was not good that that it took me almost 15 minutes to get the bill. Asked five times but they just ignored me. I was about to leave and than finally managed to pay when stopped a... More

On a business trip and my colleague said he wanted proper Viennese food, so the hotel Receptionist directed us here. We sat outside and ordered a couple of very tasty Budget while we chose food. We decided we have the "massive-lump-of-roasted-pork-leg-to-share", and waited eagerly. We were not disappointed! The joint arrived accompanied two dishes of finely shredded sauerkraut with a... Ma this is typical German/Austrian place similar to a beer garden but with a bit of better level of restaurants. Good food cheap price and a loot of beer. No fancy place at all.

Food was OK. Waiters wasn't kind and polite and we needed to wait to long for get to receive. It is in amusement park and it is commercial. We think that you can eat on better place for same price.

The food was good, beer good, seating ok. Service was so so bad, rude and unengaged, made us feel like an inconvenience. It put a sour note on our visit. They serve large groups but dont take credit card . That is ridiculous ! We had to have over 100 euro in cash. Would never go back. Would not recommend... More

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
