Bear in mind I personally don't like bread that much but I loved this place. It's simple but delicious. I had the pickles and egg which was fantastic, and also the salmon and horseradish which was also great. There's little visibility if you look in but don't be put off, it looked closed but it's open. The only thing I... More

This is a small place which specializes in open sandwiches. They have a large variety of meat, fish, egg and vegetarian sandwiches. It was very tasty and inexpensive. Sometimes you need to wait a few minutes for a table - since there are only a few of them. They do pack whatever you choose for a takeaway.

Ate 3 different slices of bread - all were great and fresh, the service is very professional and effective. The place is a bit crowded which is part of it's charm, and yet a bit problematic when it comes to find a place to sit and eat quietly - yet again, worth the visit if you're hungry and not into... If you're out and about in town and need a quick snack, this one's for you. An amazing range of small sandwiches to eat there or take out. Do try the 'Pfiff' beer!

These places are unique in that they have only a large variety of the above. If you can't find a selection of their excellent sandwich spreads to suit your palate here, you won't find it anywhere! You can eat there too, but take out might be more comfortable. Excellent if you are in a hurry!

A great place to pop in when you haven't got much time to spare and you don't need to sit down to eat. There is a fantastic selection of very tasty open sandwiches on rye bread that are all priced the same. Be warned though, at lunch time it is very popular and finding somewhere even to stand might be... More

Lot of local people come by to this place for a quick bite so this place is pretty crowded all the time. It's hart to find a seat. Sandwitches are nice, but not really that good. It was more about the experience than the food for me. Make sure to also get a small beer.

Whenever i am in the surrounding of this snack shop and have time I like to make a stop to enjoy some of the offered delicious bread Sandwiches. Although it is almost impossible to get into this place able-bodied nevermind with a wheelchair, we somehow DID manage. It's unbelievable...despite being such a hassle, still my favourite little sandwiches on the planet. Why oh why???

Maintaining the same quality and atmosphere for more than 30 years this place in the very centre of Vienna gets 5 stars. Even if they have expanded and opened other shops in Wien this first shops remains a must visit when in Wien - first time or re-visiting.

Neighbourhood Profile
Inner City
In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre. The Imperial Apartments and the refreshingly demystifying Sissi Museum are must-dos at Hofburg. Spacious squares such as Am Hof and Freyung often host beautiful seasonal and antiques markets.
