Had my final meal in Vienna at S&L and what a great night. The restaurant was very busy and we were fortunate to have booked a table although they did everything they could to accommodate any walk ins but this may involve a little wait. The menu was excellent, presented extremely well and cooked to perfection. Our waiter was spot... More

We only found out about Skopik & Lohn via tripadvisor - but a real find. Hidden down a quiet street the door opened to an exciting room full of eaters clearly enjoying both food and atmosphere. We started with a black pudding dish (excellent) and beet soup (ditto) and then braised lamb and corn-fed chicken, both well cooked and well... More

We've been at Skopik&Lohn Beisl once and we will definitely come back. Loved the small but exquisite menu and the even smaller but lovely arranged wine list. This is a "once a week place to go". Service was outstanding. Viennese at its best.

You won´t recognise the hidden quality of this restaurant from outside especially during winter season (which makes it even more precious for Viennese inhabitants). In summer you can sit outside on the little plaza and watch the calm movements in one of the rising in-quarters of Vienna. But Independent from your time of visit, and whether the garden is open,... the restaurant is wonderfully designed by artist Otto Zitko, an internationally known vienna based artist, the all over painting gives a warml atmosphere for viennese dining, enjoy finest wines and good food in a traditional viennese restaurant.

We had an amazing dinner in this place. We order a beet soup, a steak tartar and the famous schnitzel. It was amazing. The place is incredible and the waiters really friendly.

Staying in Leopoldstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Welcome to one of Vienna’s trendiest quarters. The second district has witnessed a turbulent ride, from medieval swamp to vibrant Jewish quarter, from pleasure ground for the noble and humble to current hip residence and workplace of Vienna’s creative crowd. Cross the Danube Canal from the city centre and take in life on Taborstrasse with its mix of old townhouses, churches, theatres, discount shops and ethnic restaurants. Head for Augarten via Karmelitermarkt, Leopoldstadt’s trendy marketplace. Baroque Augarten itself hosts a bizarre mix of manicured hedges and flowerbeds in front of a colossal World War II defense tower, the publicly accessible 300-year-old Augarten porcelain manufactory, the palatial boarding school and funky concert hall of the Vienna Boys Choir, and the modern art museum TBA21. At its opposite corner, The Prater not only houses the Giant Ferris Wheel but blends a bustling amusement park with lush woodland, perfect for a bike tour. Further east is the old derby racing ground of Krieau.
