I like this cafe7pub, foods and drinks are very fine and the prices very reasonable. the only thing is that sitting outside is not really nice otherwise everything about this place is cool!

Not likely to be found without advance planning, Benno offers good food and value in a non tourist area. Generally only open in the evenings, those walking should be mindful how they got there before nightfall as twisting streets can be confusing making your way home.

Was staying in Donauwalzer hotel and after a lot of walking didn't feel like going too far for dinner at 930pm. Was in Vienna alone for business and always look forward to this alone dinners. Walked four minutes form the hotel, straight into this place. Friendly staff... speaking perfect english. Sat at the bar, huge schnitzel and beer, glass of... More

This café is a nice place to have a break during your visit to the area around Josefstadt in Vienna. It offers simple but very nice local dishes at very good prices. It is a popular place among local young people, so it has a lively atmosphere, especially at night. And it has a smoking zone!

This place has loads of atmosphere, food is great and staff very helpful. Second visit and took friends too, as they had a disappointing meal last night, they loved it too. Would recommend if you like a nice atmosphere and good food at a very reasonable price

Nice place for dinner, unfortunately we (as non smokers) sat in between 3 tables with smokers, outside. Ruins dinner for me almost everywhere. My partner had rice with chicken and mushroom sauce, which was good, not exceptional. I had the baurn spatzle, unfortunately I just didn't like the dish. So probably just bad choice for me, nice people and great... More

This cafe was close to our hotel, so we popped in and were glad that we did. The food was good - fresh and lots of it - the chocolate cake was to die for!!! It also didn't break the bank when it came to paying the bill! Would definitely go there again.

Staying in Josefstadt

Neighbourhood Profile
Josefstadt
The eighth district is an older generation’s Vienna at its finest: and this is what makes it popular with locals of all ages. Josefstadt has theatre, small independent shops, romantic passageways, neighbourhood cafés with regular clientele, church squares, town palaces and shady communal gardens. Trendy hangouts have conquered distinctive places such as the Old General Hospital (Altes AKH) and the vaults of overground U6. Theater in der Josefstadt on Josefstädter Strasse is the district’s cultural epicentre. Even if your German isn’t good enough to watch a play, you can marvel at the typical Biedermeier building and take a glimpse into the foyer. Lange Gasse houses an iconic local restaurant at its corner, as well as a legendary sweet shop and a bustling neighbourhood market every Saturday. For small palace atmosphere and a different view on Vienna’s history, make your way to Schönborn garden palace (Palais Schönborn), which houses the Museum of Folk and Folk Art (Volkskundemuseum). Maria-Treu-Platz, with its summer outdoor cafés facing baroque church Maria Treu, and the historic passageway of Lerchenfelder Strasse 13 hide top spots for insiders.
