Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food and interior were good as usual. The menu does not change for the last 3-4 years, which can be improved.
What I did not like at all was the attitude of the waiter, who rushed me. This is not an office canteen, people come to spend quality time there - not just eat fast and run away.
Other people who brought food to my table were not elegant in serving, they just left and went away.
At the end of the meal I was leaving a tip for the waiter only because it was my birthday and I did not want to be involved in unpleasant conversations.
I gave him 10 euro in one note in order to obtain some coins (which are always handy). He assumed that the whole 10 euro were for him, it was just impudent, he did not deserve anything.
The funniest thing was that the restaurant sent me an email asking to rate it and for positive reviews they attached Google link and for negative reviews they asked to write them an email.
The is an intentional deception of customers who would be relying on Google reviews.
So the conclusion is that this restaurant has worsened in the last 10 years that I have been visiting it and I am very unlikely to come back.

The large greenhouse located inside the Burggarten (Hofburg) park is used as a bar and restaurant. Given the reviews, we limited ourselves to the cafeteria service, in a certainly suggestive environment. Quick and cold service, a tip is asked for at the time of the bill (a common habit in Vienna). Don't miss the adjacent butterfly pavilion (8 euro entry per person), a small oasis of tropical plants and butterflies flying freely. Very close is the Albertina Museum, NOT to be missed

In the heart of Burggarten is this restaurant located in a kind of greenhouse that gives it a lot of personality, is full of plants and is beautiful. It is rather expensive but the food is quality and the taste and presentation do not detract from it. I ate an exceptional roastbeef. The staff is somewhat cold and distant but efficient. If you are going to keep in mind that the bill already includes the tip, do not pass like us who did not see it and we gave it the same.

A far too high bill and a feeling of rip-off that unfortunately makes us forget the majestic setting in which we ate.
When we had to pay the bill, the waitress did not give us the ticket details and simply charged us a 10% tip. By the time we realized that the tip would amount to 12 euros, my 82-year-old mother had already paid. We were finally able to see the details of our addition on the ticket. And that’s where we found that there was, in addition to this astronomical tip, 14 euros of cutlery! So we paid 129 euros for a burger, a ravioli dish, a Wiener Schnitzel and 2 bottles of water. That’s 43 euros for 1 course and 3 glasses of water per person!!!!
It was our first day in Vienna and we didn’t know what the tips were. When we realized that we had been duped, we took great care in the following days at the time of the check. But it turned out that no establishment (even the most prestigious) forced us to pay such a tip. The choice was offered to pay 5%, 7% or 10% or nothing. Sometimes we have taken the initiative to round up the bill when nothing was proposed, imposed.
This practice in this establishment must certainly be common with tourists and must be denounced. I will therefore advise the guides who advise this restaurant.

Beautiful place, beautiful palm trees, music and giant screen which suggest that we are in the right place. Wrong, Pretentious restaurant, with no interest other than a beautiful greenhouse where you can have at most one drink and run straight away. Any other choice will lead you to bitter disappointment. Tasteless burger with overcooked meat (we won't ask you what cooking you want anyway), the Flammekuche was closer to the dry aperitif biscuit without cream, also tasteless and the crème brûlée is 12 euros.. Having a drink there is a relatively good idea, it makes you stick to that... Detestable service which will sharply reproach you for not paying a tip here which is obligatory since it seems, the waiters are apparently only paid on tipping... Not sure if this is really compatible with Austrian labor law... Run away while there is still time...

Incredibly bad service. A banal request for mustard with the sausage was rejected so condescendingly by the waiter that he didn't even go to the kitchen, it was probably too much effort...
In addition to lunch and a beer, you pay 1.50 euros for a small glass of tap water.
Once and never again

We came here on a fleeting visit to Vienna after some thorough research. However, it was not to be the experience we had originally hoped. Upon entering the establishment we were promptly seated at a table next to two wide open doors, while the day was hot, the evening was less so and with a draft blowing in on us we requested to be moved. I ordered the schnitzel and my partner the teriyaki salmon. To be quite honest the food was overpriced and not up to scratch considering the price. The schnitzel was indeed tasty but lacked that “oomph” that Ive taste elsewhere. As well as this, the cranberry sauce was far too sweet and would perhaps be better accompanied by a dessert of some description. The teriykaki salmon was tasty and flavourful, but again, for the price, you may be left wanting more. All was well when we were requesting the bill until a glass of wine was spilled all over my partner and her new dress. The waitress was kind regarding the situation but it was some time until more wine was offered, to which we declined. We were the disappointed to discover the wine, which bas been spilled by our waitress was left to be paid on the bill. We countered this by requesting the money back, which we received somewhat begrudgingly by the staff. All in all, this was a very underwhelming and disappointing experience. I wouldn’t recommend this for that ‘special’ night out.

Friendly waiter, no complaints about the service, pleasant setting, however the Award very excessive for bread at 4.5 euros per person for a few pieces each! Expensive desserts 11 or 12 euros with an announcement on the menu of a dessert with chocolate mousse and pistachio cream when there was no chocolate in the dessert! And as an explanation we were given the wrong card, price of a bottle of water at more than 7 euros.
Just go for a drink (coktails are good) or coffee but not to eat.

recently visited Brasserie Palmenhaus with my family, hoping to enjoy what should have been a delightful day in Vienna.
Unfortunately, what we experienced was nothing short of appalling.
From the moment we were greeted by the waiter, things went downhill.
Rather than welcoming us in a professional manner, he greeted me with "hello, Habibi" – something I found completely inappropriate. When I asked him not to address me like that, instead of respecting my request, he questioned me on why I didn’t like it!
This was not only unprofessional but completely unnecessary. To make matters worse, he then asked me where I was from – an intrusive and irrelevant question, especially after already crossing the line.
Despite this uncomfortable encounter, we placed our order. I specifically asked for green tea with lemon, but when the drinks came, the lemon was missing. After flagging this to the manager (who, to his credit, seemed understanding and apologetic), I hoped things would improve. However, the waiter returned, instead of apologizing, he had the nerve to argue with me! He denied that I had even asked for lemon and had the audacity to tell me to "calm down" and waved me off to shush me! I have never encountered such rude and arrogant behavior from a waiter in an establishment that prides itself on its reputation and high prices.
The fact that he was more interested in texting on his phone than doing his job only added to the frustration.
I am deeply disappointed with how this establishment manages its staff, particularly when the manager admitted that the waiter didn’t fully understand European culture – a weak excuse for such unacceptable behavior. Needless to say, I will never be returning, and I cannot, in good conscience, recommend Brasserie Palmenhaus to anyone.
If you value respect and good service, steer clear.

The location is amazing however the experience is awful.
We had drinks on the terrace before our meal, but we had to settle this bill separately.
We brought our own drinks inside and were ignored at ‘Please wait to be served sign’ by about 4 staff members drinking at the bar (opposite us).
When we were eventually served, they put us in a corner and did not offer us a single drink throughout the whole meal (even table water which is basic???).
When it came to the food, I never thought I’d write this, but the portions were so big it was actually unappealing.
After basically being ignored unless they were bringing the food, when we paid, we rounded it up to the nearest number, this meaning a €3 tip and the woman who served us said “only €3”
We thought that was generous considering the abysmal service.
Avoid 😊

Beautiful setting. Food is overpriced, but that was expected. Quality of breakfast was fine, nothing special. Our issue was the fact that they charged 1.5 euros each for tap water (none of the other 7 restaurants we visited in Vienna over the last few days charged for tap, only bottled). Then the waiter aggressively pushed to add a large tip to the bill. We generally add some tip even when service is included, but it was extremely rude on the part of the server to push the credit card machine at us and tell us exactly how much he wanted added to the bill. My advice is to either ask about extra charges before you order, or just stop in to see the place, then go and eat in one of the other very good cafes in the city.

Cool ambience, but this is also the only positive thing about our evening. The service super nice and tried, but everything else is unfortunately an absolute disappointment. The appetizers/soups arrived immediately after we ordered, our drinks arrived only after a long delay. The food was so lala.Gnocci were egg dumplings, the schnitzel absolutely tough. The value for money is in no way right . The food is completely overpriced and it didn't taste good either! Great location, but the chef belongs exchanged ...

The restaurant is nice, though it looks a little prettier in pictures than in reality. The atmosphere was still pleasant, just not as impressive as expected.
The food was okay—nothing bad, but nothing extraordinary either. The breakfast menu seemed more appealing than lunch, but we arrived a little late, so we may not have had the best selection.
Service was friendly, but it felt like there weren’t enough servers to handle the flow of business efficiently. While it was an overall okay experience, I wouldn’t return.

A glasshouse adorned with luscious green plants is always a haven in a city. Half the battle is worn when it’s a sight for sore eyes. We were lucky as the weather was good. With sunlight filtering through the glass roof during the golden hour, we chose to sit indoors. My dish of white asparagus was superb. It was not the ubiquitous asparagus with hollandaise sauce but bathed in a delicious basil and avocado sauce. My husband’s steak dish was however quite pedestrian and they missed the spot on the doneness, over cooking it when the order was medium rare. The 2 cakes we had for dessert were fine but not exceptional.
It’s still a wonderful spot to have a meal in the city.

Wish we’d read the reviews first, 340 euros for 4, and we shared one bottle of wine, one round of drinks and 2 underwhelming courses. Seriously, save your money. Waitress tried to upsell wine and had NO idea what she was talking about. Food was in my opinion below average and not as good as I make at home. Outrageously overpriced and absolutely not worth it.
Setting is pretty, apart from that, don’t bother.

In Vienna's best-known district, pedestrian boulevards Kärntner Strasse and Graben connect you with landmarks such as the Wiener Staatsoper (Vienna State Opera), Vienna’s iconic Stephansdom (St. Stephen’s Cathedral) and the vast compound of Hofburg, the Habsburgs’ former Imperial Palace. Peek down side streets such as Annagasse and Weihburggasse, and Graben’s Seilergasse and Habsburggasse, to get a feel for the centre.
