We went to the Grand Cafe for dessert and coffee at 9:00 pm. We tried to sit outside because there were several open tables but were whisked inside because “dessert is served inside only.” We were seated but no wait person greeted or paid any...More

Had lunch here with a good friend, as part of a tradition. Had the today’s special meat which was veal steak. Food was god but nothing more. Only English speaking staff at a Norwegian icon like this is also strange. Would expect more from this...More

We were staying at the Grand Hotel and booked dinner for two months prior to our arrival. Service was okay (it seemed we were "handed off" from our original server to another after ordering our food, but then he reappeared when it came time to...More

Nothing spectacular but the food was nice and atmosphere fine. It was a bit expensive for what it's worth and the dinner is definitely better than the breakfast.

Outdoor seating and great people watching. We have stopped here for mid-day coffee and stayed for lunch. Appealing menu, excellent small bits and appetizers. Our waiter was very attentive but not obnoxious. Would come back next time around.

The Grand Cafe first opened in 1874. In the restaurant, Henrik Ibsen would eat his daily lunch and Edvard Munch once offered to swap the painting ‘Sick Girl’ in return for 100 steak dinners. Now, more than 140 years later a new era has begun. A new restaurant and an extensive wine cellar. We are looking forward to welcoming new and returning guests, starting the next chapter.
