I've been going to this restaurant for a while now, and it never dissapoints. I usually order pho because it's my favorite! They have good wontons aswell.
We went here on a random looking for a new joint to eat today. We didn't know what we we're going for. The place is yellow and the tables closely by each other. The old lady meeting us wasn't a happy person. She was showing...us our place and after a small while giving us the menu. The menu was various of pages and had one extra for drinks. We decided for the noodle dishes. I took the noodle-soup with duck and my wife took the beef noodle dish. We we're expecting more flavour. We have had vietnamese elsewhere and it has had an edge. Which this place didn't have. Neither did the fire alarm while waiting for the help either. The waiter nearly gave us the wrong dishes too. But the servings was big, the vegetables was fresh. Not as neat as we have had elsewhere. The soup I had a nice broth, but was missing something tangible. The duckmeat was also really fatty and not cut good to eat in a soup. My wife had very little pieces of beef in her dish and big pieces of vegetables compared to how much she paid for the plate. The dish was heavy and she couldn't finish. However, it wasn't to her expectation of it either. This place isn't bad, but isn't grand either. It's just basic.More
The menu was so hard to understand (bad English as well as Norwegian) and way too long that we just gave up and left the place. All we wanted was their famous lemongrass beef salad. Went to another Vietnamese restaurant and found the dish within...seconds.More
Food is good but nothing special or out of this world. Service has been quite poor every time I've been there. Reasonably priced. Average experience, not the first choice.
Good, solid pho with all the trimmings. Herbs, bean sprouts, sriracha and hoisin. Good depth to the soup, with a nice balanced flavor. Not too heavy. Large portions too, great value. Located in what seems like a faux cave. Friendly staff and quick service. Recommended...for a legit bowl of pho.More
We stopped by on our first evening in Oslo as it was tricky to find somewhere family friendly and not too expensive on a Sunday evening and we were so pleased we did. Fresh rolls and shrimp tempura were great and the pho portions were...a really good size, with very fragrant broth. Recommended!!More
I can't believe a restaurant in Oslo can serve burnt food to their customers unapologetically. When we informed them, the waitress simply said 'oh this one is burnt' and left. She came back with the same plate, replaced the burnt wontons, and added a new....They were cold and simply very very bad. I had always loved this restaurant but now the service has become too bad to ignore. Never coming back againMore
This Vietnamese restaurant is value for money. We dropped in for lunch. I had the Pho with chicken and a green tea for NOK184 ( 22 USD). The Pho was good and a very large portion. The broth did not have great depth of flavour,...was probably made quickly, but still enjoyable. Weird decor like a cave. Very central. Recommended.More
Have been there several times. Great food, very flavourful and a large variety. The beef pho soup is a favourite, it's so delicious! Portions are large, and the value is great (for Oslo). A main is 100-200 NOK. The decor is a little weird, but...charming in its own way. Casual, good atmosphere. Table reservations may be necessary at the busiest hours, but we've always come at somewhat less busy times and never had to make them. We've never had a bad experience at Viet Nam House, and definitely recommend this restaurant!More
The food here was really delicious. I has fried noodles with seafood and my partner had pho. He asked to swap the egg noodles for rice noodles and they were very accommodating. He said it was one of the best pho he has had in...ages! Both our dishes were well cooked with lots of flavour. The only downside is the service is really quite slow. They seemed more worried about clearing and cleaning tables to get more people in than taking our order. So we ended up having to wait quite a while (and we were so hungry!). It's clearly very popular though and the food was lovely so I would recommend it.More
Stopped in for a quick lunch just after opening hours. Good food at decent prices, I will go here again and get the soup.
The food here is still super good, and authentic Vietnamese. However the service is worse than ever, ranging from ignoring to slow or outright rude. If you come here anyway, the food is good, and the prices wallet friendly
My partner is Vietnamese, he knows his food and rates the authenticity highly - it is not some Euro/Chinese bland restaurant for western tastes - it is REAL Vietnamese food cooked by Vietnamese staff. Restaurant is a quirky fake Greek Tavern that has had a...few posted stuck over some original slightly tacky plasterwork but it’s quirky and keeps you amused.More
Its ok (average) food, good portions, for average price. It's not a special experience or special food, it's an average dinner.
