Went here during the restaurant festival in Oslo. Felt welcome right away when we walked in the door! The food was great! The waiter gave you lot of attention during the whole meal. Will absolutely come back!

This place has the little extra. The service is friendly and alert. The seafood dishes are innovative and good tasting. Fresh and airy premises

We were little bit disappointed. We expected top seafood after the reviews we had read. We are not coming back. Oslo has better seafood than this.

Mares used to be among the top seafood restaurants in Oslo. But this visit was very disappointing. Service was slow and food was just average. And the menu was very limited with only few possible selections among starters and main courses. The restaurant was full, and the waiters hardly had time to attend to the table. Not a good experience... More

Beautiful fine food, seafood restaurant. Were very obliging to accommodate for a coeliac diet. Lovely atmosphere, good wines, unusual and finely balanced menu

Excellent service and amazing food! You get the feeling that the people working there really care for their guests. Have also been here for business purpose with really good experience (had one part of the restaurant for us own).

Amazing food really recommended. Exclusive dinner based on seafish revisited with fine French touch. Expensive as Oslo can be but definitely worth the level of the food

Mares is a great choice for a tasting menu caliber meal that is out of the tourist centre. I enjoyed the meal, atmosphere and service. For my meal I found the dishes to be creative and tasty. The only somewhat miss was a large (too large) piece of halibut for the main course. The accompanying sweet breads and black olive... More

My husband and I had the good fortune to find Mares while visiting Oslo and we loved it. Tucked away off the main drag, Mares has a very intimate atmosphere. I think it may specialize in the Prix Fix meal, with wine pairings, but that is not what we did. We had a wonderful appetizer....gazpacho with smoked scallop, and for... More
