Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The food was really good - service and attitude was bad. Menu is misleading - hard to notice small printed details. If you want a four-course menu, read the menu very carefully because the waiters do not tell you about the dishes marked that are...included in the price of the 4 course menu. We got to experience that afterwards it is impossible to fix the issue with the staff.More

Part Wine bar and part gourmet Restaurant Arakataka has existed in its current form for over a decade, and although staff has changed over time the kitchen continues to challenge itself with bold plates based on local products combined with Nordic sensibilities plus global influences....Open 16h00 to 22h00 Monday through Saturday, an a la carte menu served alongside the NOK 895 six-course tasting, tiled floors and wood decorate the L-shaped space where bilingual service is unremarkable but friendly enough to get the job done. Bolstered by a fairly young crowd and extensive Wine list, each table starting with Malted Sourdough tinged in Fennel, Monday night’s amuse consisted of young Broccoli with briny Cream and Horseradish before the requested addition of a luxurious Donut topped in quality Caviar and Cream. Served as six proper courses, several hiding the Protein such as in the case of Steak Tartare with unripe Strawberries, local Tomatoes were brightened by two types of Currants before proceeding to delicate Custard beneath Mussels and Beans. All properly cooked, each Ingredient contributing to the whole without excess, Monkfish showed well alongside a package of Zucchini, Nuts and Onions prior to the main course of juicy Chicken alongside bitter and earthy components. Glass-fronted but currently obscured by construction it was within 90-minutes that a Dessert of Raspberries and White Chocolate was served, the addition of florals and Caramel creating a beautiful composition before diners departed to home, a nearby concert venue or other nightlife.More

Our party of four selected the 8 course tasting menu when we visited. There were some great dishes. The monkfish in particular. Overall the food was good but not great, although several courses were of a high quality. We really love the restaurant’s ambience and...the staff were very friendly and professional. Perfect place for a special dinner.More

Snappy place with bright, young and eager staff. Had the food-booze pairing menu and was glad I did. The courses ranged from good to sublime - mostly excellent - and the wines were solid. I think the star will come when every course is elevated...to the best ones on the menu.More

Thoroughly enjoyable dinner, almost every course excellent (the chicken leg excepted), premium wine pairing simply superb, well worth the modest extra cost.

Lovely cosy atmosphere and the food was outstanding. We had the 4 course tasting menu and every course was delicious. I am gluten free and they made it gluten free without any issues. We had a wonderful evening while staying in Oslo

Had the good fortune of being treated to a meal here by our lovely friends who live in Oslo. It's a stylish, informal restaurant with a relaxed feel to it. The food & wine pairings were really, really good & the staff were friendly, professional...& well informed. Highly recommend.More

The restaurant was recommended by a US transplant to Norway. It was our one night in Olso and the food was excellent. Local food served as small plates. Extensive wine list. Excellent wait staff. Highly recommended.

Bistro style, young crowd (guests and team). We enjoyed ourselves with the set menu which was served a bit rushed, nevertheless nicely cooked. Mixed flavours. Our experience may well have had to do with the fact that it was the second last day before the...summer holiday closure. F.i, the announced mussels in one of the dishes may have already not been ordered such that the taste of the mussels broth was still there, but the advertised pieces mussels were not hitting the tongue. Nice selection of wines by the glass so that one could change flavours between courses. We need to go there again, mid season!More

Arakataka is what a great restaurant should be; outstanding, fresh, and unique food, warm and friendly service, and a well-designed interior. Every dish we ate was better than the next. We could see the open kitchen from our table and watched the chefs laughing and...having fun while creating their masterpieces. You could taste their passion and happiness in every dish. One of our best meals in Oslo, don't miss it.More
