Café Opera is an institution in Bergen. Café by day, bar/pub/concert/music venue by night. Good food at reasonable prices, friendly staff and a varied clientele. Nice place for a glass of wine and a chat, for a hung-over-Sunday brunch or for a tasty burger for dinner.

Sorry, it's been a few months but it was a delicious meal. I do remember the seats being quite "relaxed" so you had to engage your core to eat dinner, but that's alright, hey?

Unprententious and great tasting food in cafe style place far away from the tourist traps. Conserts, pubquiz and many other arrangements. Will be back!

Very good restaurant located very close to the Opera House. Very good menu selection. Not very busy, probably because no show at the Opera! Café-type furniture, which seems to be the norm in many restaurants/cafes. Excellent food, average selection of beers. About average prices, but very much worth the visit. Atmosphere is very good.

I went here with some friends from couchsurfing the last day I was in Bergen, really cool and casual place with good service. Reasonable prices but the food was just a little under OK and when the dish finally came, it was cold. After finishing the meal we drank some beers and a bunch of musicians rigged the stage for... Very nice café with friendly staff. We had two omelettes that were way overdone, although the taste was good. It came with a little bit of salad on the plate, but although the greens were fresh, the salad was tasteless, with no dressing that we could see or taste. We finished our visit with some coffee, which was very good.... More

Thank you for your review, Kari2010. I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with the omelettes, and it certainly doesn't sound like the standard we like to keep. The omelettes are made by order, and are given a bit of toast on top before they are served. It seems like this process was overdone, and it should have been... More

My friend and I came here after a long afternoon fjord cruise. We each got a different seafood dinner dish and shared a dessert, and neither of us were disappointed! The food was delicious, and the wine was reasonable for a very generous glass. The service was quick- would definitely recommend for a budget-friendly sit-down meal.

I went here on my first day in Bergen as a solo traveller and was very hungry on arrival at around 3pm in the afternoon having not eaten since breakfast. The waiter was very nice and helpful, explained I should go and pick a table, note my table number, then come up to the counter to place my order and... More

Thank you very much for a pleasant review, MissSian! I'm happy to hear that you enjoyed your visits here. The chicken soup was introduced to the menu already in 1985. Since then it has been on and off the menu, but has been a Saturday special for more then ten years now - a true classic! The omelettes are made... More

we went to eat dessert and ordered chocolate fondant, but that was not good at all, then i ordered a juice and i was served a juice from regular supermarket with some ice in it, i know that because she opened the juice box in front of me and poured in my glass. or maybe i had higher expectations from... Hello RaidKhan. I'm sorry to hear that we didn't live up to your expectations, but find your review to be quite harsh. As for the chocolate fondant, it's home made, and not once have I heard anyone complain about the taste. If you like chocolate, you should like our fondant. Our juice selection might be what you would find in... More

We ate at Cafe Opera after we got off our plane and checked into our hotel, due to its proximity to our hotel and the decent reviews on tripadvisor. We both had burgers, they were decent portions, and were fine but not great. I thought prices were actually a little high for what we got. I think this place is... More
