The very first bite of sushi at Omasake was by far the best piece if food I ever tasted. It was an explosion of taste, far beond anything I have ever tried before. The meal continued to be an amazing experiance. It really expanded my...view, and challengen my tastebuds in a delightfull way. The wine pairing was also excellent and made the experiance utterly perfect.More

Save money for better place than this one. Too much wet rice was in sushi. A terrible silent chef as well as his helper. Only good experience with wine but they were overpriced. Nothing else was good!

We visited Sabi Omakase in Stavanger in November 2022 with high expectations. Unfortunately, the experience fell short, primarily due to unprofessional service. We submitted a formal complaint to the restaurant but have received no response after almost a year. We've made multiple attempts to reach...them via email, to no avail. This is extremely disappointing, especially for a Michelin-starred restaurant. We would therefore caution potential guests to think twice before booking a table here.More

I’ve eaten at a few high-end sushi restaurants but this restaurant is in a league of its own. The sushi was sublime with great flavor combinations. A lot of the pieces melted in your mouth like butter. I didn’t know that squid could be so...tender. The wine pairings were good but expensive - same price as the food. The servings were rationed practically by the swallow, This is because they’re are so many different servings of sushi. It’s still a little odd, though. I think I would get a bottle or order by the glass if I returned. Service was excellent. My only complaint is the length of the dinner. The restaurant opened promptly at 7:30 (no need to arrive prior to that as the doors are locked) and our dinner ended at 12:20. The last hour was painful as it was dedicated to after-dinner drinks which we didn’t want. You’re sort of trapped there, though, until everyone is finished as the server/sommelier is explaining and preparing the drinks. Aside from the length of the dinner, everything else was outstanding.More

I and my two friends from the USA decided to end our holiday together with an evening at Sabi Sushi / Sabi Omakase. It was my first experience with sushi ever, and I like my first experiences to be done properly. So this seemed like...a good way to introduce me to this style of food. It was a slightly busy evening, with 9 in total seated. However, the service was excellent, and the food was a revelation for me! Locally sourced ingredients for mostly traditional dishes, with a few of them being made with new techniques (e.g. torch), and one made with reindeer meat! I really appreciated learning as I was eating. It was a full evening with nearly more food than we could handle. My advice: Set off 5 hours of your day, arrive with an empty stomach, leave the phone behind or in your jacket, and just appreciate the craftsmanship and company of the chef in person, fully present in the moment.More

I had a fabulous night at this restaurant that words are not enough to describe it. But I will try my best. The sushi and the soups had very sophisticated flavors that exploded in a magical aftertaste. Every dish tasted heavenly. Not to exclude the...drinks, such a great selection of wines that all of them suit perfectly to the palate. This was a lifetime experience. Thanks, chef Roger.More

Not to say that even with a Michelin star and even for Norway it was absolutely overpriced, the top of the cake came when after paying 5000 NOK ( approx 500 euro) for a dinner for two, I see a good size spider in the...wall. I turned to the waiter and say “excuse me, can you please get rid of that?” To what he answered : “what? The spider? Common they don’t harm anyone” ... Lucky for them I was not a Michelin star critic....or else the star will be turned into a black hole...More

A total sensory experience. An encounter with the food of the seas surrounding Norway, mediated by a highly skilled, knowledgeable, experienced, dedicated and humorous sushi chef. I’ve never had a meal that so stimulated and challenged the senses. Hard to get a booking. Very pricey....But that’s how it should be. This evening will forever remain in my memory.More

I can't deny that the sushi at Sabi Omakase is tasteful, sofisticated, the art of simplicity.. Quality food with fresh goods. However, for 18 pieces along three hours, it is just too little food. I've been too many restaurants from the most simple ones to...starred michelin starred ones, and this is the first one that didn't serve enough food. That was the first flaw. What is most complelling about all is that no where it is informed that the client is practically forced to take the wine pairing. 1495kr is the price for the wine pairing, and very little is served. In the begginning the sommelier said that you can drink as much as you like to, but many times we had to wait with empty glass, and it is quite disappointing. Besides of that it was a very enjoyable evening. It is a quite social dining experience, so it is worthy going at least once.More
