I've been meaning to write a review for a while about this fabulous place but I am only now doing it after having another gorgeous meal here on Friday evening. My family and I have been coming to the restaurant for a couple of years now and between us have probably visited over 20 times if not more and there's not a thing we can be critical of. Firstly, the restaurant is small but unlike a lot of smaller places you don't feel as if you are sat on top of one another so you can enjoy a conversation without worrying about being overheard. The decor is modern with some lovely art pieces on the wall, a small bar area and an open kitchen towards the back. I tend to prefer sitting by the bar area as I like watching the cocktails being made, I can't drink them since I drive but it's nice to watch! The second thing that should be mentioned is the staff. I saw an earlier review complaining of arrogance and that's never been the case for me or anyone in my family. In fact, they've always gone out of their way to help. When I attended the restaurant on Friday evening with my younger cousin, she was a bit disappointed to see that her favourite spinach and ricotta ravioli was not on the menu, when our waitress Paulina came over to take our order she remembered that my cousin likes that particular dish and said they could make it for her if she wanted it. To me, that is fantastic customer service and one of the reasons why I will keep coming back to this place along with my family. Lastly, the food. I've had many dishes from the menu but my personal recommendations have to be the rib eye steak with Dolce Vita sauce, any dish with scallops or prawns in it, their chips which are to die for and lastly their caramel cheesecake which I hope to get the recipe of one day! It's not the cheapest place to eat in so perhaps if you are looking for somewhere to eat on a tight budget it's not the best place but it is so, so worth it. Highly recommended.

From the staff, to the décor to the food, this restaurant is fantastic. Service of high quality food delicious food, from happy smiling staff. You're ensured to have a wonderful dining experience. I particularly enjoyed the staff using the occasional Italian phrase to maintain the Italian them of the meal. There was plenty of dishes on the menu that can meet everyone's desires, from pasta, to fish as well as a number of other delicious Italian dishes. I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys an authentic Italian dining experience.

We were a party of four on Tuesday the 18th August 2020. My wife and I usually content ourselves with two starters each, being unwilling to tackle large portions of food. We ordered the same two each and were very disappointed at the miniscule amount of food considered to be a starter. The scallops, for example, comprised three very small scallops with a sauce. That was all! For a price in excess of £10.00. The other starter was also extremely tiny being three muscles, a prawn (yes, one! small), a piece of bread and some sauce. Also over £10.00 and literally about three bites. The other two adults had tiny starters and then the lamb and a fillet steak. It may be traditional somewhere to roll up a fillet steak into a round shape measuring about three inches across and maybe 2 inches high but all that does is disguise, poorly, the very small amount of steak being served along with a few (maybe 8-10) chips for over £24.00. The lamb comprised two skinny chops with alleged 'vegetables' which were 90% roast potatoes and a few slices of carrot. Again around the £24.00 mark. Te entire meal was completely inadequate and grossly overpriced. We all felt ripped off. I'd suggest you have a large sandwich before dining here and something standing by in the fridge to fill up on when you get home.

We booked for two at 8 pm on a busy night at La Dolce Vita (staying 5 nights in Mumbles in September for a holiday). My wife had a lasagne and I had a Seafood Linguine and for wine we both had a single large glass; Pinot Grigio for my wife and I had Chianti Classico. The food was quite ordinary and where was a side salad? If I chosen say a bottle of wine and the Lamb for a main course the bill would have been over £70. I would not recommend coming here.

From the outside this restaurant is easy to miss. As soon as we walked through the door we entered a very inviting space. Modern decor and well spaced tables with comfortable chairs. The staff are really welcoming and served us with smiles. The bottles of table water were chilled and the glasses came with ice cubes and lemon slices. We could choose from the lunch menu or the main menu. We decided on the lunch menu £13.95 for 2 courses, £16.95 for 3 courses. Our starters were whitebait and mussels. Both were tasty. Mains were chicken breast and a chunky cod fillet, each served with chips or seasonal vegetables. We didn't realise that the seasonal vegetables included new potatoes, lightly pan fried, I think. If we had we would have both had them. However, the chips were delicious too! Both mains were delicious! Panacotta and tiramasu were really good! Although we didn't choose pasta there were good choices to be made.

This place is nice. Good atmosphere and ambiance and a decent menu. However the portions were way too small. Had to have a small bite to eat when we came home. There no reason to do this. Wasn’t cheap and good money paid. I wish them well like all restaurant and hospitality outlets but I believe people want value for money. Adding a little more to portions will cost them very little.

We made a last minute long weekend in Swansea and The Gower, having had to cancel our trip to Crete. We struggled to find a decent place to eat on the Saturday evening for 5 people but were fortunate that La Dolce Vita could squeeze us in. We were pleasantly surprised and blown away by the quality of the cooking and the exceptional service. The food surpassed all our expectations as did the perfectly made Negroni! Thank you the chef and staff at La Dolce Vita for a wonderful evening

We ate here and the food was fantastic but unfortunately there’s not much of it. Small starter, a very small square of lasagne to follow and a poor cheese board. Normally I am stuffed after Italian food but was quite hungry upon leaving., the service was good but poor value for money food wise.

I must say I have been here several times but this time was not good. I fear prices have gone up and food standards have gone down. Our food for the price was not adequate.. I think they are not trying to attract locals anymore but trap tourists. We paid over £90 for starters and main with one bottle of wine 😩 my partners chicken was minute and I paid £10 for starter which was also awful In size and did not compare to previous experiences at this restaurant. Disappointing 😩 It’s such a shame as I was so happy at one time to find this restaurant. I know Covid has been tough but you can’t expect people to pay silly prices for food in such small quantities unless it’s perfection.

My wife and I had appointments in Swansea on a Friday morning and again later in the afternoon, so we decided to have lunch at La Dolce Vita. This was our first visit and we were pleasantly surprised to find that it was a proper Italian restaurant with good, traditional, Italian cooking instead of the usual Pizza and Pasta only menus that we so often find nowadays. We opted for the the 3 course set lunch menu with Whitebait or linguine starters followed by Cod with a caper and tomato sauce, served with saute potatoes, carrots and cabbage, accompanied by an glass of Sicilian white wine. For desert we had Panna Cotta or Affogato with hazelnut ice cream. The food and wine were delicious. Paulina and the Chef (owner) made us feel very welcome, as did the general ambiance of the restaurant so we will definitely return next time that we are in Swansea.

Stumbled across this restaurant whilst walking in the Mumbles. Warm welcome and brilliant service from staff. We had the set lunch menu - mussels and mushrooms for starters and then for mains we both had the cod; all beautifully presented and served hot as I like my food. Great value for money £13.95 each? It doesn’t stand out from the road so you might have to walk along a look for it but the inside is lovely. Do make the effort to go and you won’t be disappointed.

Delicious meal. Well presented. Very attentive considerate staff. Waiter even came back and forth to pour our wine. Sone may consider it a little pricey - I say you get what you pay for and with exceptional service coupled with exceptional food I certainly didn’t mind the cost. The chef is phenomenal, only a young chap but clearly well trained. Would we go back? Already been twice and looking forward to the next visit. 5*

We found the food to be of good quality but the portions were tiny and overpriced. My son had 3 courses including the fillet steak but this was a tiny piece of steak, he went home hungry. For the price we paid, £176 for 4 of us, our experience was very disappointing.
