Had an excellent meal last night.
Good cocktail list, ordered and delivered promptly in the bar area.
Decor has been completely revamped from the rather eclectic prior style, the old bar has been removed as it was in the way of the view, floors updated and all new tables and chairs. Very peaceful and stylish.
The wine list is extensive, with a large selection of Italian wine varietals (falanghina, Greco, fiano, aglianico franciacorta etc) that are imported by the restaurant and pricing set to encourage people in that direction, rather than the more usual international wines that are also well represented. Both Italian wines we had were very good and good value for the quality level by restaurant standards.
Starters included an exceptional red shrimp carpaccio, which were butter soft and sweet, a three fish tartare, tender grilled octopus and parma ham and melon. Presentation on all was top notch.
Main course was grilled fish, all perfectly cooked, moist and fresh, together with tender calamari and shrimp. The lasagne noodles were thin and light, not heavy and stodgy. Seafood tagliatelle was devoured quickly.
Desserts of tiramisu and a chocolate dish were also great.
Service was warm, attentive and timely throughout, great pacing.
Pricing is similar to Tides, so on the higher side, but worth it.
We'll be back.

We went to QP as a party of six to celebrate 2 special birthdays in our group a 50th and a 60th, we booked months in advance, told the restaurant the occasion and asked for a round table by the edge which is exactly what we were given. The restaurant is visually stunning especially as you walk in and there has been no expense spared on the decor.
We had cocktails to start and once again told the staff about the birthdays in our group the Cocktails were excellent and we were then shown to our table, so far so good.
We ordered our food and wine and most of our party went for Octopus, and Crab Salads, both dishes were lovely although the crab salad did contain quite a bit of shell but hey no drama. For mains we had 4 fillet steaks, 1 fish of the day and a Chicken dish, the mains arrived and as soon as my sister in law cut into her Chicken you could see that it wasn’t cooked and was running with blood, we called the waiter who then called a manager and he apologies profusely and took it away to be recooked. Obviously the rest of us are all eating our mains which were excellent.
It took 25 minutes for a replacement chicken dish to be delivered to the table, by which time the rest of the table had finished their meals, this was served but looked completely different to the first one and had seemed to have not been given the same amount of love and attention and instead had been quickly thrown onto the plate, the waiter said please cut into it to make sure its cooked and unbelievably this one was also raw in the middle and running with blood!!!!!!
So we tell the Manager to forget it and he insisted on providing desserts for the table which he did, and these were very good. Now I realise things go wrong in any kitchen and the mark of a restaurant is how they deal with it, we felt that after we had complained we were more or less ignored.
Our taxi had arrived so we asked for the bill which took around 20 minutes to arrive and we had been given free desserts, but no other acknowledgment that one of our group hadn’t had a dinner on her 50th birthday meal and while we are at it the restaurant hadn’t acknowledged the birthdays in our group at all, despite lots of other people in the restaurant having cakes, candles and a visit from the Gypsy Kings tribute act to sing Happy Birthday.
So to cut a long story short we refused the offer of free desserts and suggested an alternative option that was acceptable to us, however, none of us were happy with the way it was handled and it totally ruined our visit!
In closing we had no hangover from the fact that QP is not the Cliff any more as only 2 of our party had been to the Cliff previously and our food apart from the Chicken dish was very good, but the restaurant need to understand that you can’t serve raw chicken to people once, let alone twice, and if you do then expect to compensate them accordingly!!!!!!!
Also if you are told its someone’s special birthday and they have chosen to spend that special day in your restaurant then at least acknowledge it in some way!!!!!
So would I go there again, probably as it is stunning and the view is amazing, but there are real problems they need to address.

The remodelling of QP from the Cliff Beach Club has created a super venue that is comfortable especially for pre-dinner drinks. That's the good bit out of the way unfortunately.
The food was okay, couldn't fault it but it was nothing to shout about. We all ordered pizza as it seemed the most affordable thing on the menu. I actually like a sourdough pizza but if you go there expecting and Italian style pizza you'll be disappointed (why not just say what it is) They arrived, well 3 did and the 4th was taken away again before we saw it but returned some minutes later as the staff had trouble identifying what pizza was what and had to do a quick switcheroo on the table.
What annoyed me was the price of the wines. 'Normal price' for a bottle of M de minute Rose on island is somewhere between 90-110 BBD, here it's a whopping 135BBD and that's before the 22.5% tax, fees and charges that are added of which most the restaurants include at least 12.5% of in their menu prices with only 10% service added on. Oh and by the way this goes for all food menu items as well.
In summary and huge bill for an average meal in a nice setting - you can do better.

This new business has taken over from the very successful Cliff Beach Club, always our last stop at the end of our holiday on the way to the airport.
There’s no denying this is arguably one of the best locations on the Island for a restaurant.
Unfortunately we were disappointed with our final dining experience of the holiday.
They have still retained the high price marque of the other well established eateries along the West Coast, but the standard of both service and quality do not match .
I ordered a glass of red from their small selection of wines by the glass, it was “tired” suggesting it was more than a day or two old. When I ordered a 2nd glass ,but from a new bottle, I was told they had no more of that particular wine, surprising when they only offer a small selection by the glass.
Whilst our waiting assistant was extremely friendly, I had to ask for the table to be cleared as the aperitif glasses along with the old wine glasses and one plate from our appetisers where still on the table when we were eating our main courses.
I chose the Fettuccine which quite honestly for an Italian Bistro was really quite ordinary.
Overall it was a really poor experience, so much so we had left within an hour to finish our final lunch at one of the other quality restaurants along the coast that can justify charging the prices QP charged.

Birthday dinner booked well in advance, asked for table near sea, got the highest table in the restaurant next to the pizza oven.
Complained and table changed to a lower level. Staff at that level , including the two Italian brothers were outstanding .
Food ok, but very expensive for an Italian bistro. ( 40 US for a small portion of lasagne )
Why the owner insists on a very loud out of tune mariachi band playing walking around the tables in an Italian bistro, god only knows.,,,
It was impossible to talk when they performed in the main body of the restaurant .
The decor with bright strip lighting and plastic hanging baskets, does nothing to enhance the beautiful setting of the original Cliff Beach Bar.
Why change the style when it’s not broken ?
All in all , if it wasn’t for the staff looking after us personally who were charming and professional we would have walked out
Get your act together QP , Barbados is a small island and news travels fast, especially bad news !!!

0ur party of eight were treated with contempt by the manager when we turned up at Xmas having booked the main restaurant three months beforehand. They changed our reservation to the brasserie ten days beforehand because they main restaurant construction was late.
When we turned up and were offered a table literally in front of the kitchen servery with almost no view at all (except the servery itself) we rejected it.
Their excuse was that we had booked late. Three months is clearly too late.
The manager could not have been less helpful and was borderline offensive.
The drinks beforehand had taken three times to get right and we were served by the bar manager!
We had a terrible experience and will not return. There are many other great beachfront restaurants where they really know what they are doing. Try Sea Shed and Cabane as much more engaging experiences where they work hard to make a great experience.
The Cliff was our favourite place on the Island and we will now

We had booked the main restaurant three months ago. A few days before the due date the restaurant emailed to say the place was not finished and they had unilaterally transferred us to the bistro.
We turned up on the day and had a drink in the bar served by a woefully inadequate bar manager who was interrupted by staff no less than three times whilst taking the order which he then got wrong.
The decor is very mediocre unless you like cheap hanging plants.
At the appointed time they showed us to a table literally above and away from the main restaurant right next to the kitchen/serving counter with no sea view.
We complained that this was unacceptable and were told it was because we had reserved late ie ten days before the due date. In fact we had reserved with the organisation three months beforehand which we proved to them with their acknowledgement and they themselves had made the reservation. It’s the same premises with the same owner!!!
The manager could not have been less interested and was so clearly out of his depth in terms of understanding anything about hospitality. We left and if they attempt to charge the $180 per head cancellation charge this will not be the last communication they will been getting from me.
Horrible evening, awful
manager and one of the finest places to eat in the Caribbean has been turned into a miserably run place which, judging by the reviews we have read about its food , is best avoided.

Truly awful dinner experience
1 of our group wanted to visit this restaurant and we booked before we left UK.
We were unaware it’s now called QP Bistro until we arrived. Even though the website and email still use The Cliff details.
Gazpacho soup arrived in a massive soup bowl and all slopped up the sides, utterly tasteless.
Our side of french fries again arrived in massive soup bowls and our sharing steak was left beside our table where we waited for 8 mins for someone to come over and carve it.
It was 1 of the worst steaks of my life.
Asked for amaretto coffee and was given a Disaronno substitute.
Even as we were made our way out to the taxi people in front of us were complaining about their experience to 1 of the staff.
The only thing they seemed interested in was having guests party and do the conga line.
Save your money and tastebuds and go elsewhere!!

I hate leaving bad reviews, but this was really disappointing. The staff were very pleasant but really not very good. The drinks we ordered never came, the food came whenever and was small, poorly cooked and overpriced. The pizza was quite nice but no way was is worth what we paid. The views are stunning during the day, I imagine, but we went in the evening. It would be nice if they did what Champers does and illuminate the water at night. There are far better restaurants than this. I will say that they had an excellent singer for entertainment

We were in two minds whether to eat here based on the reviews but a few people recommended it based on the days of The Cliff.
Unfortunately we should have listened to the reviews because they are absolutely spot on.
Incredible location, stunning views and you can see that a lot of money has been spent, however the food was a real disappointment.
It’s an expensive place to eat and drink, and you expect outstanding food and service for how much you are paying.
Someone mentioned burnt fish and my Wife said every piece of fish on her plate tasted of the grill.
Many of the staff, and boy there’s a lot of them, seem disorganised and front of house make you feel like you are privileged to be there.
I’m afraid they have a lot of work to do.
We were in Barbados for two weeks and unfortunately QP was the worst meal we had on the island.

Having been many times to both the Cliff and the Beach Club I am afraid it didn’t work for us. Also no music as promised. It’s now got cheap new tables and why did you move the bar and change the decor. Unfortunately the staff, of which there were far too many, were pleasant but not trained so looked like they didn’t know what they were doing. At it’s height the Cliff and the Beach Club had a confidence and self assurance which has now gone but what we experienced this time was poor quality overpriced food served by ill prepared and inadequately trained staff.

Since dining at QP Bistro during opening week in December 2021, I have dined there on no fewer than on 8 occasions - lunches, dinners and sundowners.
I must admit that they are continually raising the bar!
The attention paid by the wait staff and sommeliers in particular has been quite impressive. I dropped my napkin and didn’t notice; before I knew it, my waiter replaced it with a fresh one. Water and wine glasses topped up!
I’ve tried the seafood, the veal, lasagna, the burger, the Florentine steak, the pasta and the pizzas. I enjoyed them all! There is a clear commitment to quality in the selection of seafood and meats.
The decor and ambience are simply stunning but to top it all off the atmosphere has been brought to life by live music. From smooth jazz to rock and roll to flamenco - there is something for everyone!
Already booked for next Sunday 🥂

I wasn’t keen on this place. The venue itself was stunning (see photos) and the food was fine.
It is however not child friendly (at least for young children). When I booked, I was aware that young children were not welcomed for reservations after 6pm. As we have a 4 year old, I therefore booked a very early dinner for 4pm. Upon arrival we were the only guests. We were presented with a lunch menu. We felt under some pressure to order as clearly they wanted to finish lunch service and move to dinner service which started at 5pm.
The whole process of reserving the table was all over the place. Having booked for 4pm,
I rang the day before and was offered 6pm which was much better. I thought this odd as it went against their no young kids in the evenings policy. Five mins later, they called me back to say they couldn’t do 6pm after all but offered 5pm, which I accepted. They then called a second time to say that they couldn’t do 5pm either as there was supposedly another large group of diners arriving at that time (who didn’t arrive when we were there, so that was clearly an excuse). So, after a lot of messing about, we reverted to a the original 4pm reservation.
Their handling of reservations was just plain incompetent.
The place is expensive - although I expected this - but still didn’t think it represented good value for money.
This place is probably great if you like paying top dollar for a long dinner which you can show off to all your friends about.
For us, it was far too formal and fussy and aimed at extracting the maximum possible amount of money out of you (but that’s business, I suppose).

While I’d give the decor and ambience a 10/10, the food
was completely underwhelming. The menu lacked innovation and I found it difficult to decide on what to order.
We started with the sharing bruschetta and cold cuts which was presented very poorly and after a recommendation from the staff, I ordered the seafood pasta for my main. Again, the presentation and flavour (or lack there of) was disappointing and I left majority on my plate.
While the service wasn’t bad, it was rather slow and with no special touch. The long wait time would have been much more enjoyable if we were able to order additional drinks to pass the time.
On the positive side, the cocktails were quite good and If i were to return, it would be for this and the raspberry, passion fruit panna cotta which was the bright light at the end of an otherwise disappointing meal.
The location is a win no matter what and the new stunning design leads to high expectations. I hope the food will catch up.

We arrived for lunch promptly but had to wait 35 minutes before we could order any food……..the starter course then took another 25 minutes to arrive.
When the main course arrived, I had ordered spicy tuna tacos. The tacos were really soggy and the tuna was raw. I am allergic to raw fish and it wasn’t described in the menu as raw.
One of our party has a whole glass of wine spilt over him and whilst accidents do happen, the apologies were not exactly forthcoming.
We sent the tacos back and asked to speak to the manager. We issued our complaint and asked for the bill, this arrived and the two taco meals had been removed and a 10% discount given. Unfortunately, they then applied a 12.5% service charge which we refused to pay.
Slap dash service from a restaurant who knows you probably won’t return so they are in it for a quick profit………….shameful.
