My husband I went there last night for a Thai curry as I was looking forward to having a duck curry. Must admit I was disappointed with my curry as the duck was quite chewy. My husband had the red curry with prawns which he said was very nice. I found that this Thai is quite expensive to other restaurants and the staff wasn't the most attentive, even though there was only 4 of us in the restaurant. I am not sure that I would visit again anytime soon. This is purely on my own experience.

Little Elephant is not just the best Thai restaurant we have ever visited, it is the best restaurant of any kind. As awkward vegan/gluten free customers we find it incredibly difficult to find options when eating out that aren't just a salad or 3 bean chilli. Little Elephant went above and beyond to cater to our needs, including emailing with us in the run up to our visit to make sure that our every need was being met. We would 100% recommend Little Elephant to anyone looking for a great atmosphere, delicious food and outstanding customer service.

We have been coming here for a few years and it's always so lovely and the service is so friendly but not smothering. We are culprits of ordering the same food, vegan pendant curry and chicken red curry but whenever we bring other people they always rave about their food also. It's not often we find somewhere we go to regularly as we like to shop about but this place just keeps drawing us back. The atmosphere inside is so lovely and welcoming, would recommend.

We decided to order via the QR code to benefit from 10% off which wasn’t an issue, drinks were bought out promptly. We had the sharing platter for starter, majority of which was super hot and tasted amazing, however we felt as though we were served undercooked satay chicken. We raised this with a waitress who promptly got management to come over, he explained that it was the marinade the chicken was in, which we would believe if the chicken was piping hot, however it was cold and tough to cut let alone eat. My boyfriend tried some and said it didn’t have the right texture. We explained that we were not happy eating this and were offered a refund for 1 person - we will see if this comes through. Our mains however were so delicious, we opted for the duck dish and pork pad thai (I was skeptical after the chicken), everything was piping hot and tasted amazing, we shared the two dishes as we couldn’t decide what we wanted!

Hello, thank you for visiting. I am happy to hear that you enjoyed the rest of your meal with us. I am really sorry to hear about your chicken satay, but I can reassure you that our chicken satay is properly cooked. We would quickly deep our chicken into 180c oil to cook the chicken from the inside, before grilling in our griddle to get it to be cooked evenly. The pinkness from the chicken actually came from marinating, as we marinate our chicken in a variety of different spices over an extensive period of time. This is actually a very common occurrence in every restaurant that serves chicken satay, as we have been educated to think that pink chicken is bad when it's actually very safe if it has been cooked properly at the right temperature. The weird texture of the chicken, I would believe might be down to a bad cut of the chicken breast as when the kitchen had a look at it, there was honestly nothing wrong with it (Trust me on this, our chefs have seen a lot of raw chicken). As for the chicken is cold, might have to be more with the case of it when it was cooked, bought out to you, and to the time of you consuming the chicken, it would have cooled down to room temperature. I hope you understand that we have no reason to be dishonest to you about the chicken satay, as there is nothing for us to gain from that. Especially if a refund has already been offered (and honoured). if you would like to speak to me, I am available for you to drop me an email anytime over at eastbourne@lil-elephant.co.uk Kind Regards, Mark

Keep coming back to Little Elephant and never disappoints me. Service quick and efficient - we actually placed our order electronically in doors and food was served just moments later. As for the food - a truly authentic thai cuisine with variety of options to choose from and really generous portions. I'm not easy on giving food review but their food is so delicious. My special compliments to the Chef for his great work.

Had dinner on a Saturday night in May. Decided to book as it was shortly after indoor restaurants were allowed to open again, it is a good idea to book as we saw people get turned away without a booking and the restaurant is quite small. Was asked and did check in on arrival with the NHS app and so was everybody we saw arrive. The atmosphere in the restaurant is good as it is quite small. The option was offered to order via an app with a discount for doing so. This was very easy to do but does mean you have to order and pay for everything at the same time. If you want anything you have to get a desperate bill. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. The food was very good, arrived quickly and was very fast. Great dinner.

As visitors to Eastbourne we took a chance on this restaurant and struck lucky. The service was top class and the food absolutely delicious. My wife has a wheat intolerance, but the waitress (co-owner) was very knowledgeable and friendly, patiently explaining which dishes could be altered to accommodate her intolerance. We were on a 10 day holiday around the South Down and both agreed that this was our favourite meal in the whole trip, though it was far from the most expensive! This is not silver service and fine-dining, no linen table clothes and so on. It's more like a cafe with its laminated menus, but if you are searching for a warm welcome and tasty Thai food do not let that put you off. Highly recommended!

We’ve just had a lovely meal here. My husband is a meat eater and I’m vegan. The vegan menu was fair, the chosen vegan meal delicious. As I’m not particularly into tofu the waiter kindly brought out a bowl of cashews so that I would enjoy my meal. Unfortunately no alternative milk for a coffee but assured they will be looking into it. We ate during the early bird menu, excellent value !

Having lived in Eastbourne for a while now for some reason have never been to this restaurant. So decided to check it out. From the moment you step into the place the lovely decor sets the tone. I was served by a very friendly lady who added to the overall experience. The Prawn Crackers were extremely good but the main course dish Pork Khao Soy was a taste sensation with the sauce itself being the star of the show. Bottled Beer at £2.50 happy hour Lunch offer was very reasonable. All in all a great experience and will be visiting again very soon

I was delighted to find the Little Elephant Thai Restaurant as most to the meals I've had when eating out in Eastbourne were below average. I enjoyed a Thai dim sum starter and went on to appreciate a pork noodle stir-fried dish as my main. All this was washed down by a excellent cold Thai beer. The waitress was very busy but professional and friendly. The cost of the meal for two was a very modest £38. I would personally recommend this place. Also, good Covid sanitary measures.

Attentive and welcoming staff with food to match. I ordered the calamari starters and prawn special fried rice main - very flavoursome and not to heavy a meal. I would happily come back here.

We have heard a lot of good things about this small, family-run restaurant, so decided to come here with a friend and his daughter to celebrate my birthday before going to a concert at The Congress Theatre. What a great decision that was! We had pre-booked a table just in case and we were warmly greeted when we arrived. Unfortunately our friend's daughter was slightly delayed (she was coming over from Brighton) so it gave the rest of us more time to peruse the menu as there was a great selection to choose from whilst nibbling on some prawn crackers. We decided not to have starters (although they looked/sounded delicious) and went straight for main courses. Our friend had a Chicken Pad Thai, his daughter had Drunken Seafood Noodles, my husband had Crispy Duck in Lemongrass and Tamararind Sauce whilst I had the Pad Kaprow Pork with Crispy Egg. All of the food was beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and generous-sized portions. (In fact we all agreed it was just as well we didn't have starters!) We thought the cost of the food (and wine) was very reasonable. We will definitely come back next time we want some delicious Thai food. Thanks to the staff for making my birthday meal so special. Just one word of advice: it is worth booking in advance in order to avoid disappointment as the restaurant is quite small in comparison to some others.

Poor - pretty disappointing overal, started with a sort of attempt to order via app at the table which is just not necessary in such a small place, then ordered with a friendly waitress and ordered before a big group even arrived but they ordered after us and got their food first, were rowdy and rude and our food took 1.5 hrs to arrive from ordering will not be going back. Food was mediocre at best. Go to yummies if looking for Thai

We are very sorry to hear that you are disappointed. Everyone has the taste buds they have adjusted to, but we are confident in our chefs' ability to provide our customers with delicious meals. Unlike many other restaurants, all our food is unique as it is prepared using our own recipe, in-house, by our very own hands, and nothing is cheaply bought premade from wholesalers. As you mentioned, we are a small restaurant, and noise control can be an issue sometimes as we have no quiet areas. We have privately informed the big table about noise and being rowdy, but please understand that we must tread the water carefully with drunk customers as things can get very ugly quickly. As the ordering via the phone has sped up things ever since we have adapted it into our service, and so have many modern restaurants. It will always be an additional option for customers to use, as it is generally easier and quicker. We appreciate your input, but I think 1.5 hours wait is exaggerated as we have timestamps in our kitchen ticket, and everything is run in the FIFO system, but I do apologise if you found the food to be slow. As mentioned on the menu and at your booking, we are working with a small team right now due to covid reasons. Hence, things are a little slow as we prioritise our staffs' health and safety, as our covid risk assessment concluded that we should not have too many staffs working at the same time as they will be in too much of closed proximity in a small environment over an extensive period. As we are approaching normality again, we are looking to hire more staff, drastically improving our service speed. Thank you for your feedback.

We have previously eaten here more than once and enjoyed our meal. However we went last night and wish we hadn't. The servers/waiters appeared very unethusiastic and the food - starters bland. I actually commented to the waiter that the satay sauce appeared watered down as it was thin in texture and had no flavour. The waiter advised he would tell the kitchen. There was no presentation like you see in the pictures and the evening was generally disappointing. The duck and green curry were better so we paid our bill in full. However we will not return as there are other restaurants that are better.

Hello Tracey, first of all we thank you for coming to dine with us, we really appreciate your hospitality, and feedbacks. I am very sorry to hear that you were disappointed in the recent dining experience with us. I also apologies that if I appeared unenthusiastic to you, but from what I remembered and checked on the camera footage that I have made sure to carefully checked in with you to see if your dining experience was going well. My waiter and I, might seem not interested but I can assure you that we were both off our feet for an unexpected busy Wednesday night shift making sure that everyone is being well catered for, so there wasn’t much opportunity for us to really chit chat with any customers. We wasn’t prepared for that many customers that night as we didn’t had that many bookings in advanced, so we couldn’t get extra hands to help last minute. As for the satay sauce, yes I did say I would report that in with the kitchen and that was what I did as you reportedly said the sauce was “weak” which the team did need some time to look into. However, I know for sure that the sauce wasn’t watered down since I know how much our father the head chef of the restaurant pride himself on only quality food made by him. He would definitely not let his food be watered down or taken a shortcut when he is at the helm of the kitchen. The texture might seem more watered down and that is because it was freshly made and that is the natural consistency of the sauce at a warm state or when it’s starting to cool down, if the texture was thicker it would usually mean that the sauce have dried out. You were actually served a fresh new batch of our homemade satay sauce that we made, so I don’t think there was anything wrong with the sauce and this is just based down on personal preferences. However, after this feedback we have discussed with the rest of the team and we will seek a solution to make sure that the sauce thickness stay consistent every time without using any artificial or chemical additives. We are committed to only using natural and fresh ingredients for the food that we prepared for customers, so I’m glad that you at least enjoyed our mains. Also please do understand that food presentation change all the time basing on the ingredients we have in stock and the time available for us to prepare the garnish, as far as I am aware from what you ordered we only marketed the starter platter and nothing have really changed from the pictures. We have never marketed or advertised our set menu pictures (which was what you ordered), since it wouldn’t be possible as the quantity of food changed by the amount of people sharing the menu. So there isn’t one size fit all pictures that we could have used in our pictures as we don’t want to mislead our customers. Therefore, the set menu photos does not exist so I am not sure how you could make that comparison, so I am very confused here. For everything else that showcase in our pictures, everything is as true to picture and the actual meal as it can possible be. We at Little Elephant, genuinely do care about our customer experience and there is always someone from the family around that you can speak to if you have a problem with any of food or service. If you would have told us about the disappointment that you felt during service when I checked in with you, I would have surely made it up for you in some ways or another. If you do choose to visit our restaurant again, I’m sure we can definitely make up for the lost experience that you felt on Wednesday night. Again, we really thank you for your visit with us.
