Came here having booked a table on a busy Saturday evening. Took a while to get our order taken but our waiter was very friendly . He came back 5 minutes later to say the roast dinners were off, so I ordered pork belly, he came back 5 minutes later to say the pork was finished too... went for the expensive lamb shank and my partner order a sirloin steak. Long wait for food and my lamb in red wine gravy tasted nothing like lamb, which was a dark bitter meat in a thick gravy with a skin on it. The mash was fine though but the rest unpleasant. Tried some of my partner's sirloin steak which was as tough as cardboard. Was still hungry after leaving most of my main and waited an age to get noticed to order dessert. Had an apple crumble which was very nice, which at least bumped the rating up to 3 stars. They tried to palm us off with someone else's bill and we had to wait for the correct one. Had far far nicer pub meals and certainly wouldn't recommend here.

We visited on a Friday night and the "restaurant" section of this busy pub was already full so we took a seat in the bar area which, perhaps, meant it took a little longer than usual to get served. Service was friendly, particularly at the bar, and there was a good range of beer from near and far available. Food was solid, pub grub staples done well. The minced beef and onion pie came with fantastic fat, crunchy chips and the Lamb Shank was meaty and tender. Atmosphere was pleasant with a good mix of drinkers as well as those dining. Very pleasant experience.

Visited The Albert on three occasions for lunch during a midweek break in Llandudno. Because we were staying in a hotel we’d had a cooked breakfast so only wanted something light so we picked from the sandwich menu. The sandwiches were delicious and accompanied with the best pub chips we’ve ever had plus nice fresh salad and coleslaw. They also had three real ales on offer with the opportunity to try all three served on a paddle.
The staff were very obliging and provided a second plate and cutlery so we could share. We’d travelled to Llandudno as part of a party of six couples, on the first day it was just me and my wife, the second visit another couple joined us and on our last day all six couple came along and without exception enjoyed their food and drink.
We would definitely recommend anyone visiting Llandudno visit The Albert for a welcoming atmosphere and delicious food.

Visited here over the bank holiday weekend after reading reviews..........What a disappointment.
The menu was a very limited one and even by 8 o'clock had sold out of certain items.
I eventually chose a Sirloin Steak and priced at £18.95 I expected it to be pretty good...how wrong i was, I asked for it to be cooked medium but chewy it nearly gave me lockjaw! I even had to ask for a steak knife. The 'home cooked chips' were poor some were hardly even cooked.
My husband ordered the Minted Lamb Burger priced at £13.95, we've had tastier minted lamb steaks from Iceland!
We asked for a side of 'cheesy garlic bread' whilst we were waiting and it arrived with no cheese on it, thankfully we weren't charged for the cheese.
The big gripe for me was that I was charged £6.50 for a large glass of Merlot, I know wine is more expensive in pubs/restaurants but £6.50??
It sounds like I'm a cheap but I'm not and I don't mind paying for good quality food.
In fact we ate at Weatherspoons the following night which was much better.

This was our first and last visit im afraid , I don't mind paying over the odds for good service, good food and a full stomach alas we got none . Service is a shambles , we had the large beef meal and I could have eaten both of them . £14 for a minute portion my young grandson would have finished on his own. Waitresses run around like headless chickens with no supervision at all . We ordered soup starter and beef main course and the waitress asked if we wanted the soup and beef bringing out together ??? We wherd given our cutlery with salt , pepper and vinegar?? Not asked if we wanted any horseradish etc . A complete shambles but not the young staff members fault as there was no leadership. We asked 4 different people for the bill and waited 20 minutes for it ... we are not fussy people but expect decent service and value for money it really is a place too avoid

an expensive waste of money. The meat and potato pie should have been fantastic but it was microwaved to the point of mummified, and covered in gravy, the filling was equally disappointing, six very small pieces of steak that were hard, very much like it had been heated twice!! The portion size for the same meal is not equal for the price, just don't draw the short straw when meals are set down. It's very evident when two the same meal are ordered. Any chef their worth would never serve a plate like that. Old dry food.
When asked if everything was ok, I mentioned that the pasty was very very dry and the filling was barely there, the reply was ' I'll tell them in the kitchen'. So take my money and brush the complaint under the carpet. Not going again.

Took up the 50% offer for Conwy residents during our local lockdown as we also wished to help local businesses. Now we wished we hadn't. When my husband suggested The Albert for lunch, going on past experiences, I didn't hesitate to say yes and certainly never thought of reading previous (poor) recent reviews.
Not sure whether there's been a change of ownership here but the food quality and portion sizes has gone downhill. My husband ordered the large roast beef dinner and what was presented made you seriously question how big the standard size was! Two small roast potatoes and a tiny bowl of veg consisting of one broccoli floret and about six round pieces of carrot. The dish was also lukewarm. He only ate it as it was a late lunch gone 2pm and he was starving. He was still hungry afterwards.
My lasagne was a joke. I too ordered large and what was presented was a tiny dish of 20cms long with no depth which was full of what can only be described as dry mince with some burnt cheese on top. No tomato or cheese sauces within the dish. You could tell it was a frozen, re-heated effort. Cat food springs to mind. This was served with three small pieces of ciabatta bread. No chips. Ordinarily this dish was £13.95. Wow. It was genuinely only worthy being half price, and even then a Macdonalds would've been more enjoyable. Again, I ate it coz I was starving.
I asked the young waiter whether the kitchen had made a mistake with the order and served me a standard size. He said no. I then asked him what a standard size (for £9) would be then and he looked awkward and said it would be a child's portion...
Coupled with a glass of wine costing over £6, we decided to forget a pudding and were just thankful we ended up paying £23 instead of £38 for this experience.
I have a feeling, after now reading similar reviews to mine, that the management just don't care and are obviously cutting corners during the 50% lockdown offer.
A real shame as The Albert always used to be one of my top 5 gastro pubs to visit but I won't be going anymore.

Warm and friendly welcome and dog friendly. Ordered our drinks and barstaff offered to open a tab as we were looking to order food and provided us with a menu then came over to take our order in a timely manner. Food was lovely with good thick homemade chips. Waitress offered to put wifi code in my phone and we notice another one go ferch a barstool for a customer definitely excellent customer service. Only negative was no moretti available however this didn’t spoil our visit. Tables get booked fir evening meals so recommend booking anything after 5 .

We ate twice here in October and generally enjoyed our meals but this time the beef on my Sunday dinner was very tough. The lamb mince in my wife's pie was too fatty. Everything else, veg etc was good.
At least the lady collecting our plates asked if everything was ok and upon telling her about the beef, she offered a free dessert, though we had a drink instead. Compared to other places we ate in town, it's not as good as it was.

What a fantastic place to eat outside on a cold and windy day in Llandudno. We had to book the little shed outside for two hours which was heated so it kept us warm .
The food was fantastic and we had the roast beef
dinner , which was superb and excellent quality . I topped my meal off with an amazing apple crumble and custard .
The New Zealand Sauvignon was well worth it and so was the Welsh Conway cask ale . A great idea for customers to eat outdoors and the staff were really friendly, although they were getting a bit wet coming out in the rain .
I would really recommend a visit !!

Been to The Albert many times over the years & have had many a lovely meal there, we went there today, what a difference it was....Firstly, it was in a desperate need of a makeover & a deep clean, it hadn't been decorated since i was there nearly 2 yrs ! Carpet was a disgrace, ive thrown better ones in a skip! My husband ordered a roast beef dinner, i had a sandwich, 2 roast potatoes which were barely cooked, hard& pale in colour, beef was ok, yorkshire pudding ok, a tiny portion of veg, shredded carrot 🥕1, shredded cabbage, 1 leaf, & gravy....cost £13, totally not worth the money, we complained when paying, so the young girl gave us our drink for free, Avoid at all cost, a kfc or McDonald's would have been more enjoyable.

We ate here for dinner on a Saturday evening and were really quite impressed. There was a waitress who was so quick to see if you needed something, polite and helpful - she really is an absolute asset and was running around working her backside off the whole time we were there.
The same could not be said about the other staff unfortunately. They were unhelpful, couldn't manage to get some mayonnaise for us despite asking twice and appeared to be standing around doing nothing.
That is the only negative though. We had a range of food between the 5 of us and all of it was really tasty and good value for money. The pizzas and pork belly in particular were absolutely delicious.
Lovely little place for a quick pub meal slightly outside the centre, so a bit quieter with a nicer atmosphere than other pubs in the area. If we visit Llandudno again we would not hesitate to return.

I have visited this pub in the past and enjoyed satisfactory meals. I had been told of a deterioration in food quality since reopening after lockdowns. I always prefer to make my own judgements so booked an evening table.
The staff were polite and professional and one cannot blame them for the quality of the food which I’m afraid was dire. I didn’t taste anything that appeared to be freshly cooked; it all seemed to have come in frozen or in catering packs and heated up or dropped in a deep fryer. Even the garlic mushrooms had a synthetic taste in a weird and unpalatable sauce. The bread that came with the soup was from a cheap white sliced loaf and appeared to be more than 24hrs old. I could go on!
I have no idea what has happened in the kitchen but would hate to see this nice old pub with its great variety of ales continue in this vein. Such a shame.

Visited many times over the years and always had great food. Always a little more expensive than some but I never mind paying extra if the food is of good quality. Sorry but it's not. My friend ordered the sausage and mash. Forget the mash it was no more than a dessert spoonful. The sausage was grainy and disintegrated when she tried to cut it. It was swimming in coloured water which was supposed to be gravy. We paid £13.95 for this slop.I had the roast beef dinner which to be fair was just about edible. It was served on a very small plate which made it impossible to cut up my meat. This was also covered in brown water.....sorry gravy. Sorry but we won't be returning.

Went twice yesterday, once for a late afternoon snack/lunch. Ham sandwich/fries was so beautiful it tempted us to go back at night where I had the ham (because it was so lush), egg and chips and hubby the steakburger. Huge portions and perfectly cooked - would highly recommend if you like good old British pub food, cannot be beaten :-)
