Fantastic meal in this restaurant. We had not booked and every restaurant we had tried to go to was fully booked. The team at East Ocean found us a table on condition that we left by a certain time, as a booking had been made later. This worked perfectly for us, as we were due to meet friends for drinks. The service was very quick and attentive. The food was good quality. Prawn crackers were complementary. The restaurant was modern and comfortable.

We normally go to 'My Chinese' as a family Chinese meal outing. They were not providing dine-in meals during December 21 so we chose to come to East Ocean. They provided a friendly and relaxed atmosphere and provided us with a great selection of food in an efficient manner. Great experience.

Hadn't been here in years but a friend had recently been told it was excellent so we gave it a try. Quite a small restaurant but not massively busy for a Saturday night. Looks like it has been refurbished fairly recently. We had the set menu for four where you get a selection of starters, you pick four mains and you get rice noodles and tea. A good amount of food for four, the starters were particularly good, great price and the staff were friendly - even when we were the last table left and they obviously wanted to go home!

It took 2 hours to deliver the meal and when it arrived, one dish was crushed and had spilled into the bag, soaking everything else (photo provided). One item was wrong, it was meant to be 2 large spring rolls, but we received a bag of small ones. These were vile and had to be thrown away. The whole meal was cold and dishes weren't very nice in general. Very disappointing and overpriced. We paid £6.10 for the prawn toast and received the tiny strips in the photo. Massive waste of time and money!

Came here for a meal on Monday I found the lady owner behind the desk rude and unwelcoming. Food was 3/10 over priced and small portions for 21.50 per head. Sweet chilli sauce was watered down so much … also the food lacked real flavour.

Out with a group of friends, we booked for 8-8.15 but didn’t get there until 8.30 due to being in the escape room and it ran a little over. At time of booking they explained they closed at 10pm which wasn’t a problem. I called ahead to book the set menu to give them a head start as we were running late. One friend arrived at 8ish and was promptly told they close at 9.45 staff were rude. Starters and main course were pretty much thrown at us all at once, it was cold and dreadful!
They were talking in what I guess was Chinese to each other with attitude which made for an uncomfortable atmosphere. Won’t be returning and wouldn’t recommend!

Always lovely service here so kind and wanting to please you. Great vegan option I love is the sweet and sour vegetables and boiled rice. As a former neighbour they’re very positive to have around they light up Fore Street with positive energy. It would be nicer to have more vegan options but pre-vegan I enjoyed a lot of their menu.

Staff and food were excellent but the decor was nothing special. Good sanitising protection. It was noisy but that was due to two large tables of guests. We enjoyed our food and it was nice to have chocs with coffee plus additional coffee offered

Had a lovely dinner at this restaurant. We were pretty early, so the restaurant was quiet - but service was good. All of the dishes we ordered were really tasty and the set menu with flexibility of "any main dish" was really good. Recommended.

Staying in Ipswich for the weekend and found East Ocean from the excellent reviews. The restaurant was spot on with their Covid precautions we felt safe and well cared for. We choose the set menu food was delicious only downside is the kids are charged the same as an adult so was very expensive for a 4 year old. Highly recommend.

Here's the thing. The take away service was great, the Covid precautions great, the food looked good but....
There were 2 really good things : Mongolian Lamb and the Chow Mein. The fried rice was fine. The rest were ruined, and I mean rendered inedible, by a generic garlic sauce. Now, I cook and trained to cook French food. We grow garlic. But here every dish we opened (exceptions above) was overwhelmed by a garlic cloud. As in, pull your head back when opening! Had they used 'very easy garlic'? had someone lost their sense of smell (worrying in these times)? Feeling queasy, we left most of the food outside hoping the neighbourhood fox was OK with the smell.
We wanted to like this.

Our second visit to this small establishment and this was the best. We use it as a pre show dining option when visiting nearby Regent Theatre and it is well situated for this purpose. We booked via their website and were greeted enthusiastically on arrival. The service was superb from start to finish and the food is extremely good. Highly recommended.

Really welcoming staff, menu was easy to order from. We had set menu and the amount of food we had was just right for us. No waste, really attentive staff and food came out quick and hot. Really recommend this place.

You could be forgiven for walking past this Restaurant in the centre of Ipswich, and keep on walking. If you looked through the front window, you would see a rather drab interior (unlike most Chinese Restaurants these days which can be rather grand)
This place was recommended to us by a friend so we decided to give it a go.
What a find!!!!
Service ...... Truly Excellent
Food..... Best we have ever had in the UK
This place is an absolute gem.

We had a most enjoyable meal here last night, food is excellent very tasty. The staff are always polite and the service is fantastic. Your given prawn crackers and dip while waiting your main meal, a perfect meal in a perfect restaurant.
