What a surprise! The Brewery Tap is a gem of a place. Rustic decor, fairy lights and candles on the tables made for a romantic feel to this place. The staff were very friendly and helpful with the right amount of attentiveness. We were recommended a bottle of wine, which we found to be very helpful and enjoyable. The food... More

First trip to Ipswich and what a find, nice to see they use local Suffolk produce. Very varied menu, difficult to choose what to eat as it all looked so scrumptious. Good ambience and staff very hospitable. Would definitely revisit when in this area again.

I have had some really good meals here previously but my meal over the weekend and 2 of the other people in our party had poor meals. Fish batter very overcooked and not a lot of fish in the middle. Soup was more like a bowl of spaghetti. Didn't like the tomato sauce and no other relishes available. limited sweet... More

Found the pub on the internet as we needed lunch in a certain location. Initially we couldn't see the entrance to the pub but then saw a sign on a wall directing us further up the road, right opposite the dock entrance. There was a large car park and whilst the outside looked liked it was in need of a... More

Last minute decision to head out here yesterday - it was way quieter in there than usual. Food was top notch though - whatever intermittent issues they've had recently weren't in evidence. All three courses were fab - pick of the starters being the fish cakes. Mains of brill and salmon were delicious - didn't get a chance to try... More

The Brewery Tap is situated next to the old Tolly Cobbold Brewery in the Cliff Road Dock area. It's a free house and keeps the traditions of a Suffolk pub alive, serving lots of local produce and a range of local beers, and fresh Pizzas every Wednesday night. Great local beers and Suffolk lager including beers still brewed next door.

we visited this pub on 14th December, having booked and pre-ordered from the menu. It was NOT as described - mushroom pate was too mushy! the roast turked was "a pie with some other meat added" YUK. the xmas pud was served ONLY with brandy or rum sauce - which I hate. All in all NOT worth the money and would... More

Took kids and Mum for a mid week lunch at this old pub by Ipswich Docks. Simple but effective lunchtime menu which resulted in 4 x egg, bacon, sausage and chips and a half pounder burger. All nicely cooked friendly and willing serving staff who were attentive and willing to engage. The meals were excellent quality and a good and... More

Description
This is a lovely Gastro Pub, the new owners took over in October 2009 and have fantastic plans. They only serve locally brewed Bitter and Lager plus a great wine list. Mike is a fantastic chef and the staff are always friendly, smiling and helpful. Lots of space for private parties or meetings. Daily fresh menu with local produce.
