Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We came with Parents/In-Laws for the Christmas Menu and returned in January for a traditional Sunday Lunch. All 3 meals were of the highest quality and value. The service is always exceptional, attentive, without being intrusive, and the setting is stunning. We will return again...and again.More

Another lovely night at this great pub! Although the staff have changed over the years, the quality of the service/food and friendliness of all involved remains unbeatable. Still our favourite place to go to for an evening meal. Brilliant!More

Really disappointing. I had the lamb, very chewy and poorly cooked. The waitress (wearing glasses, didn’t catch her name) was rude, dismissive and disinterested in the guests dining. Would NOT come again.More

Four of us went for Sunday lunch and were very disappointed. Three had the roast lamb and I had the four meat roast we all found the lamb was full of fat and gristle some I had I had to remove from my mouth because...I couldn't chew it I also found the beef and pork were a poor quality although the chicken seemed ok. I complained to the waitress she said she would mention it to the chef but we got no feedback or a reduction in the bill so I'm definitely not recommending any to try this restaurantMore

We found today that the Rising Sun has changed their menu. We enquired as to the vegan options and we’re told we could have “Vegan Chicken Tenders” either in a baguette which chips and side salad, or as a salad or in a burger bun...(however they had run out of burger buns). We ordered two VCT as a salad and two portions of garlic bread. We were rather surprised when it arrived to be presented as a sort of Caesar Salad, but having taken out everything non-vegan, a Ceasar salad is just lettuce and a splash of dressing… Our meals looked unappetising at best but at £14.50 each, we felt they were overpriced. We asked for some additional salad, tomatoes, cucumber, pepper etc to make it more of a salad and to be fair, were brought a small bowl of tomato and cucumber, and another with “Salsa” which was diced tomato, cucumber and red onion, at no extra cost. I queried the price of the salads when we paid, and was advised that “vegan food is expensive to buy in”, but we had £7 (two garlic breads) generously taken off our bill. We do love this pub, mainly for the regular staff who are delightful, the lovely ambience inside the pub (especially in winter with the fires and candles) and fabulous local walks. However I think future visits will just be for a drink.More

We went to this lovely place, last night. What a lovely place to go. The staff were very wellcoming and friendly. It was my birthday treat with five friends from church. I had the lamb steak, four of us had the same, it came with...mash and vegetables, which was carrots and broccoli spears, to my taste the vegetables were abit hard someone else agreed, the mash was lovely and the gravy was really tasty, it had mint flavour..Another lady had the cannelloni, which she said was delicious. For pudding there was two of us had sticky toffee pudding with cream, one had crumble, another had orange flavour cake covered in chocolate with creamsomekne else had the lemon sorbet, all were lovely presented. This is a lovely place to visit, it's in the countryside, lovely outside area for children to play, they had a marquee up, so must do weddings or events. It was a dull rainy night, so must be beautiful when the sun shines. Hope we go here again soon.More
