Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Poole Arms looks like the traditional pub that it is, with a facade clad top to tail in green ceramic tiles and a quirky porch leading into the bar. The inside is softly lit by wall lamps around wood panelled walls and a floor of...large flagstones. - The pub had a great atmosphere, busy but by no means overcrowded. We received a friendly greeting from one of the staff and were shown to a table. - For STARTERS, we had and excellent SEAFOOD CHOWDER (the waitress kindly offered to remove the muscles as my partner is squeamish) and the PIL PIL GAMBAS, ten tender peeled prawns with an appreciable chilli kick. Both were accompanied with very tasty HOME BAKED BREAD - MAINS followed after a comfortable wait. The DRESSED CRAB SALAD was really tasty with the crab shell sitting on a very generous bed of mixed salad. The SMOKED HADDOCK was another treat served on a bed of spinach and with a side of baby new potatoes. - The above was washed down with large glasses of MIRADOR TINTA and BRUNO ANDREU MERLOT, both of which we recommend. - The DESERT board provided something of a dilemma but we eventually made a decision! Highly recommend the LEMON MERINGUE PIE. It is so good to get one which has a sharp lemon bite. The APPLE & BLACKBERRY CRUMBLE was also very agreeable. - All in all a thoroughly enjoyable comfortably paced pre-show meal. Truly restaurant quality food served in a warm and friendly pub environment. Can't wait for the encore visit!More

This was our 3rd time visiting the Poole Arms this time it was for hubbies birthday lunch We had booked a table for 1pm, it's always best to book as it is very popular so gets busy. Yet again we had a wonderful meal. For...starters it was Scallops with black Pudding for hubby and Cod Cheeks for me, Followed by Pan fried Haddock fillet with lemon & Parsley butter, New potato's and fresh veg. I had the Seafood Casserole and I added a drop of cream to it...well what can I say but absolutely delicious. It usually takes us an hour to drive from home but this time two hours due to road works but it was well worth it....looking forward to our next visit 😊😉More

5 Star Service at the Poole Arms this evening. No Chips Children or Canines excepting Guide and Support dogs. I enjoyed the Sardines followed by the Haddock Pot. Perfect for a cool grey Dorset evening. Thank you.

We popped into the Poole Arms to find most of the tables reserved as it’s a popular find. We approached the bar to order drinks and enquired about food, the lady behind the bar explained that most tables were booked but we could have the...one which was booked later, giving us an hour and a half. I fancied crab so ordered a bagette and my husband a ploughman’s. The service was excellent, the food superbMore

Fantastic sea food pub restaurant. Traditional pub. Attentive staff and the food was absolutely amazing. Scallops for starters followed by sea food stew that was full of a great variety of fish and sea food at a very reasonable price for the portion and quality....Recommend booking.More

Always a good vibe in this pub, no loud music or kids running around the place. Really good food & great service. Lots of other pubs on or around the quay to choose from but I would always come back to the Poole Arms (even...with the quirky gents loo!)More

Very accommodating, friendly and attentive service coupled with the most extensive fish menu we’ve ever seen. The haddock was amazing so fresh and tasty, well presented and seasoned.
