Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.

We’re there last Friday for a small celebration with family and friends and chose the buffet menu for 15 people. The staff couldn’t have been more accommodating and reserved us a small area of the downstairs. Having undergone a recent refurbishment and new owners and...management The Crown is well worth a visit. The decor, ambience are all excellent and the staff couldn’t have done any more. The food was spot on, delicious and good value for money. If local or visiting Poole I would highly recommend visiting for a stay, a drink and something to eat. Thank you for a wonderful afternoon and evening.More

Fabulous Hotel competitively priced. This newly renovated hotel is a fabulous venue. The hotel rooms are beautiful (Though the beds could be bigger) Centrally located for everything. The rates are great value , no inhouse chef so breakfasts unavailable but when kitchens up and running...Im sure the rates will increase. No parking but they kindly found us a space . We have stayed in the next door venue the Chambers which is also a great find (alot more as self contained flats) Biscuits and coffee / tea in room. The bar is lovely and their sister venue next door is The Guildhall which is a fish restaurant. You get 10% discount but the prices are ridiculous and out of reach to the average customer !More

Lovely food but portions really small would have preferred to pay more for a more substantial meal. Menu also very limited

This was our local pub during our visit to Poole, The staff were friendly, the atmosphere was comfortable, and we called in several times for a drink before and after meals. Lydia was really helpful when we needed to know about restaurants, taxis etc.

Popped in for a quick drink at the weekend. The pub is furnished really well, is comfortable and relaxing. The lady who served us was really helpful and the kids were offered sweets and there are treats for dogs. Definitely worth a visit.

We have been waiting for The Crown to open since the summer when we could see refurbishments where taking place. Called in last week and not only does it look great outside but inside it is fabulous. Welcoming, comfortable and fascinating decor. We can't wait...for the restaurant to open later on. We shall definitely be regulars once the coffee machine arrives!More

We recently used the Crown Hotel for a small reception after our wedding at the Guildhall in Poole. Very convenient, being less than a two minute slow walk away from the Guildhall. The bar has recently been refurbished to a very high standard and is...very comfortable. The Crown put on a buffet for us, sorted out the champagne and cut up the cake. I can only say the buffet was a credit to them, a very high standard, everyone was impressed. The staff could not do enough. Thank you for helping make the day special.More

Of places that claim to be dog friendly his is the least dog friendly hotel that I have ever stayed at. To charge £15 extra for having a dog and then not have an area for guests to eat with dogs in either the bar...or restaurant is unacceptable in my view. We were told that dogs are allowed to accompany us on the terrace and that we could eat there but the weather was not good and the booths were too cramped to accommodate our party of six. Had I read the website in more detail I would also have spotted that we were expected to put our dog in a cage when we left her in the room which we had to do for breakfast. The hotel rooms are extremely dated, dingy brown and worn furniture. The one star is for the staff who were mostly very friendly.More

Absolutely terrible experience, didn't even stay.. Walked in got offered a table by a lovely lady, so all was good. Hadn't even sat down and from the kitchen you heard f*****g and s**t, its not on the f*****g menu. Had my 2 children with me,...who where absolutely mortified. We left before we even had the chance to sit down and try the food. Extremely unprofessional think you should look into a new chef! Won't be going back in a hurry that's for sure.More

We came here on a Friday and a Saturday night with our wine club. The restaurant is cosy and accommodated around 28 of us. The menu was an absolute delight. It featured all my personal favourites like scallops, monkfish, steak and chips and parfait. We...had 7 courses each night which were all presented to the highest standard. The service was spot on keeping the dishes moving, clearing our plates and pouring more wine! The staff seemed really happy to be doing their job which was just lovely. Thank you for 2 truly great meals.More
