Popped in for lunch, saw they did a two course pensioners meal for £6.75. I had crab and prawn cocktail, followed by Fish and Chips. Y husband had homemade tomato and basil soup followed by Gammon, Egg and Chips. Very good value. Service was quick and efficient. Food was very good, will definitely come back.

Before leaving this review I read a few of the most recent ones and can't understand (unless staffing has changed) what other reviewers are on about! 3 adults, a 4year old and a dog all welcomed warmly! Sat outside as beautiful sunny day. Ordered 2 fish&chips, a giant burger & kids chicken 'teddies'. All served within a very reasonable amount... More

We stopped in this pub for a late lunch/early dinner after getting off the Brownsea Island ferry. It was quiet so that suited us fine. The food was okay but it wasn't anything to write home about. The gammon, egg and chips looked great though the chips could have done with just a couple minutes more cooking. Lasagne had a... More

Went for supper having sailed to Poole in December. Very disappointing. Friendly enough, but the food was awful. We won't be going there again.

The Lord Nelson is on Poole quay and is easily found. I had a cool glass of larger to wash down an excellent large portion of Fish, Chips and Peas. The staff were friendly and prompt.

We saw a couple of good bands in here December 2016 and being of an older age it was good to get a seat. We also popped in one afternoon on our way back to the hotel and it was not very welcoming. It depends what you want with this pub.

The pub itself is lovely, very old building and welcoming. The food on the other hand was disgusting. The prawns were over cooked and tasteless and the margarine was spread so thick on the bread it was all you could taste. However, they happily changed it for another sandwich. This was even worse, the grated cheese was dry and hard....it... More

We are three volunteers who opened Chestnut Nursery on 30th Dec. We closed at 2 p.m. we thought it would be lovely to have lunch on the quay together but were disappointed that many of the pubs finished food by 2.30 p.m. We landed on the Lord Nelson really fancied the Fish and chips but they had sold out so... Came her for first time for my birthday back in June and got the surprise of afternoon band something we love as not really late night people. Decided to have a treat over Christmas break so came New Year's Day for bath race which was excellent and another afternoon of great live music. It was extremely busy but lively and... More
